One thing i would change is when you don't have the hood on the collar sticks up really high and gets in the way, so you have to try and fold it down every time you put the jacket on.

I used this full jacket to snowboard in big bear but when i was done i could easily use the inside as a casual jacket for dinner.

I have had a several North Face Jackets for the past 20 years. They have always been the Mountain light. This year I needed a new jacket and really liked the look of the Clement. Good color choices and most of all, lots of pockets and features. The feel of the material inside and out is great. It is the perfect coat with one notable exception, the mid section is way too tight. Like another reviewer, I don't have a big stomach, but it is very tight, and only tight in the mid-section. The sleeve length is a little long, but I can deal with that by tightening the velcro cuffs.
I wish there was a similar coat with the same features as this with the fit of the Mountain Light. .

Upon removing the shell, I discovered that the liner was installed in reverse. The logo and pockets are inside and the tags on the outside. In order to wear liner properly, you need to turn it right side in. I feel that this design defeats the purpose of a 3 in 1. Who would want to remove both jacket and liner, only to reverse liner to put it back on-especially in cold weather

I found the same as the first review. I have a number of Northface medium jackets that all fit comfortably loose. This one is so narrow I can hardly wear a tee shirt under. Also, the sleeves are much longer than any others I have. I was a bit disappointed in the craftsmanship as well. I had some stitching with loops hanging out as well as some white insulation puffs coming out of the seam. I hope this is not a new direction for Northface

Seems well made. I usually order large in things. The sleeves and chest were great in both of these for fit...the abdomen, not so much. I don't have that big of a stomach, but even sucking in as far as I could, I can't imagine wearing much else other than a tshirt under this without feeling really constricted. Sending it back for one of the more relaxed fit jackets. Overall, it seemed to be well made though...if it fit, it would have been almost perfect.

I bought this for snowboarding. I'm 5'4" and 130lbs but size small was too big for me. I normally buy XS but Small is the smallest available size.

TNF lightweight zippers are utterly trash. Also, had to take the liner to a tailor to correct an insufficient stitching on a pocket. Overall a beautiful product, but the liner is an obvious afterthought, and not intended for wear by itself.

Overall, this is a good jacket. It keeps me warm at night at below 0 Celsius (32 F) with only a thin t-shirt under it. The pockets keep my hands warm without gloves. It has good design to keep the inner jacket in place.
The inner jacket fits me well with size S, more like slim-fit, but the shell jacket feels bulky, and its sleeves feel a bit too long for me. It would be a 5 star jacket if the inner jacket didn't show so much stain from my skin, around the collar and the sleeves near my wrists. I hope TNF will use a different material rather than nylon for the inner jacket.

Great coat and style but it runs wide. There's a lot of coat here in terms of material, which adds to the warmth, but if using for things other than snowboarding and skiing it might be too much. Love that it has fleece lined pockets!

I live in Minnesota, it gets cold here. When this jacket gets cold, the shell almost sounds like plastic tinfoil as you crunch it together. Extremely annoying. Also, please just the 2 way zippers to EVERY outdoor jacket/coat PLEASE With out it, it's hard to sit with out the whole thing riding up while you try and drive. Please just make them like the old Mountain Guide from the 90's to early 2k.

I want to like this jacket. The fit is good. Removable hood is fantastic--that's the main reason I bought it.
The problem is that it's NOT waterproof on the mountain. The main material is indeed waterproof, but unfortunately, the zippers are not and let in a significant amount of moisture into the pockets. I put my phone and my wallet in each of the chest pockets, and even on a powder day, they are soaked at the end of the day.
If I had known this beforehand, I never would have purchased. No idea why Northface would design a 'waterproof' jacket that allows you tech and valuables to get all wet. If they had simply put waterproof zippers on the coat, there would be no issues. Very disappointed in retrospect.

nice jacket. But one day snowboarding and everything is wet. My phone, my wallet, the inside liner , the whole thing was soaked. too bad because it fits ice and its a good looking coat but do not expect it to keep you dry.
Also, the zippers are where they saved cost. awkward and keep jamming. also, why would zippers close going up?? never did get that one.

I just bought the Clement jacket. I thought it fit well (both the inner and outer jackets) but I've found some things that cause me to return it. 1. I can't button the powder skirt without unzipping the liner or pulling the snaps down to clasp below it which pushes some of the liner up in the front creating a bulge - and not in a good place. 2. The zip-in lining must be completely removed and turned inside out to be worn separately. Seriously NorthFace? Didn't anyone test this out? The whole point is to unzip the outer jacket, toss it in your locker and look fashionable in you inner liner. I have take the whole thing apart, stand in the cold, then put the cold side again my body and try not to look I'm freezing while I do it. Brilliant. I hope this review serves as a warning to others. Don't buy this if you think it's an easy changeover or that you can use the powder skirt when it is fully assembled.

I needed a new good warm jacket for everyday use as my older one started wearing so I decided to "invest" a good amount of money for this one having in mind the good brand name. The fact that is 3 in 1 making it even better.
Unfortunately, this jacket is not warm at all! In a not so cold day (-1, -2 C) it's ok. But when it's cold outside and you're not wearing 5 more layers, this thing cannot keep you warm at all!
Waterproofing is good but the main functionality for me is how warm it's keeping me and at that field it's getting 0 so (unfortunately), one star overall is the best I can give.

I received the coat, and quality-wise it looked good, if thin. Very thin. Given the experiences I've had with thermoball-filled coats in the last couple of years, the sparsity of the liner left me concerned. Sadly, those reservations were borne out within a couple of evenings' tests, in 45+ degree temperatures, with the coat over a t-shirt only. My shoulders and upper arms quickly lost warmth, to the point that they were noticeably feeling cooler within 5-10 minutes.
This is not the performance one expects from North Face products, based on reputation. This coat is being returned.
