I was excited to get these boots and enjoyed how they were fur lined and warm as well as comfortable. I felt sturdy on the ice when walking on it. They were larger than expected, maybe meant for wear with thicker socks.

I love the gripping that you get on ice. I realize these are for hiking or walking on frozen ground but I need that type of traction for ice covered parking lots. Wish you made your lined slip on Merrill's willthis type of gripping for us seniors.

I bought these because I was overdue for new boots. They are comfortable for me, I have wide feet with a high arch. Plus they are so cute. They worked well on icy surfaces, no slipping at all kept my feet warm and dry.

I tried to give these boots five stars, but it wouldn't let me click on the fifth star, so FIVE STARS here! They are warm, super comfortable, and really keep me from sliding. I love them!!!!

We hiked in about six inches of slushy snow last weekend. I did slip quite often. But my feet stayed warm and dry.

I purchased these boots to wear while I hike Kilimanjaro in a few months. I tested them about on snowy terrain in California. Just like my regular Merrell hiking boots I quickly fell in love with them. They are pretty roomy which I wasn't expecting but if you wear a thick sock, and tighten them up these are absolutely perfect. I have a wider foot which is one of the reasons I always buy Merrell boots for hiking and backpacking as no other brands seems to give me the room I need. These boots are also incredibly warm and I love the fur lining on the top. They have places to attach gaiters as well. I haven't been on ice yet with them but the traction seemed great on snow.

Walk in park and bought to prevent slipping on ice but have not had them long to confirm.

Christmas gift for friend and she loves them. Says they are very comfortable and warm and doesn't have any issue with them being 'heavy', they aren't. She says they grip very well and she more comfortable walking around outside with these. Only issue she's mentioned, is the grip on the soles isn't as effective on uneven ground, the shoes slip a bit but not enough to worry her.

The shoe is too bulky & heavy. In The picture it is slimmer. Traction is supposed to be good but with ice i still slipped a bit though I didn't fall. I used this in iceland recently & walked up the hill it feels like i have weights in my ankle climbing up the hill.

Met my expectations for use on ice, but because they fit smaller than expected, I can't wear winter weight socks with them (size 11 - so can't 'upsize'). My walking shoes keep my feet warmer than the boots do. This is based on today's temp of -20 C. If you live somewhere that doesn't get all that cold... or if you can order a half size up so you have room for heavier socks, you should be happy.

Still waiting for that first snow but these
Babies look good and are comfy. A little on the heavy side but it is a real boot.

I purchases these boots last winter because of the claim of great traction on wet ice. Well, they do not have any better traction than any other boots I have owned. I still feel like I am going to slip and slide when I am walking outside in the snow and ice. Otherwise, they are mostly comfortable, but fit narrow in the toe area. Generally disappointed.

These boots fit well, and were very comfortable, almost like slippers! I was hoping for a sturdy pair of boots for walking in the snow/ice with my very active dog, and I'm disappointed that they don't have the support I need.

Cute practical boots/shoes. If you like stylish, heavy style boots that rub a bit near the ankle. Very well made. If I lived in Canada I might have kept them out of necessity.

I love the look and style of this shoe. Sadly it was not a comfortable fit for me. The boot was too high above my ankle and when I walked the boot collar kept hitting the back of my lower leg. Also my heel was moving around inside the boot. The boot also felt bulky. I returned them.

I was looking for a boot that can handle snowshoe clip in the back - this boot does NOT have a snowshoe clip shelf on the heel. It was difficult to tell from the photos (it looked like it did have the heel ledge) & the descriptions of boots on Zappos are not consistent with whether they have this feature. Also, the shaft is a bit on the low side. I didn't even bother to try them on.

I've had those boots for now 3 winters. They are okay. I don't love them, but I don't hate them. I bought them the first year they came out.
They are fine to use to walk around town (if the sidewalks have been shoveled). Snow somehow easily gets inside the boot as the back is lower than it looks. My feet can get quite wet. Even in walks with 2-3inches of snow on a park or trail snow somehow gets in. Any temperature colder than -5/-10C and they won't hold up. In temperatures close to freezing 0C, they will keep my feet good fir about 30-45min then I'll start getting cold. I've never been warm in these boots. Overtime (after the first winter) it seems like they lose their "ice grip". Overall the boot works fine and is still in good shape, so is the sole even after 3 years (which is what I expect from Merrell and they deliver). I don't take my boots after a snowfall when the sidewalks aren't clear or for hikes. They are strickly for clear pathsin town.
If I had a few suggestions for the boots it would be the following:
1. Make it a bit higher on the back. It's too easy for snow to get trapped in there, melt and then wet your feet. So cold!
2. Keep the material of the sole as is. It holds up and still looks good aftet 3 winters. Although the "ice grip" was lost within the first winter. The material of the boot is great too.
3. Comfort is good, but the boot should be warmer. I shouldn't have my feet cold and my toes freezing within 30min when it's barely below freezing.
Overall an okay boot. Not for my lifestyle much. The boot and sole are still good, so it would have a few more seasons, which is great and what I expect of Merrell. Although I will be looking for something else. I'll not in "awe" for what I thought this would be. Would probably be fine fine for people living where there is little to no snow, some rain, and temperatures fairly mild all winter. Use it in town. Not so much for hikes/adventures.

The tongue is only gusseted a short way up the foot on these. I'm returning them because it looks pretty clear that the second I stepped into a slushy puddle they would start to will with icy cold water. They're really more of a big, showy shoe than a real boot.

Not bad. Theu definatly don't grip on ice like they described. But they are okay. Comfortable and the right size , but I wouldn't h leave spent as much as I did with the results I got.

Cute however highly doubtful that the sole would be effective on true icy conditions. Returned for that reason.

I had a different experience than another reviewer who thought these boots were too large. For me the boot was too small/narrow especially since I have Merrill ankle-high hiking boot that is comfortable and with room for toes with bunion. Both size 10M. The boots were tight across the ball of the foot and not much wiggle room. I tried them on with hiking socks, which is what I would wear with boots. I liked the style and Arctic Grip, so disappointed to send them back.

I was disappointed in the traction on this show. I took as my only boot on a trip to Canada. I slipped on the ice several times. I cannot recommend this boot for traction. It was warm and waterproof but not what I was looking for.
