Once were Great, but not anymore. Used to be anyone could wear these: thick feet, bony feet (mine) and everything in between. I have these boots from 2 years ago, they have beautiful thick leather, excellent arch support, nice colors, are absurdly comfortable, and had a million 5 star reviews (which I was initially skeptical of given the heel height). Everything is the same now, except for the width of the top half of the boot. These worked for so many people because they were cut in such a way that us skinny heel & ankle ladies could really cinch them down and get a good snug fit, yet everyone else could also wear them in comfort. Now they are waaaaay too loose on top, leather gaping everywhere, not possible to tie them tight enough. Look closely at the video... see how the boots are all floppy around the ankle on the model, as if it's super cute and trendy to wear them that way? You can't wear heels this high if they aren't securely anchored to your foot, you just end up with a twisted ankle. So those of you with thick ankles: fill these shoes-- don't pass them up! They are sturdy, sexy, waterproof, get good traction in snow, comfortable, and the arch support is incredible, better than all my Danskos, Naots, and other euro comfort shoes.

I have taken my time to write a review on these shoes in order to provide excellent feedback. I am a graduate program coordinator so I walk around a great deal depending on the graduate program event and these shoes are absolutely one of my favorites to wear. I can breakdown my review into the following sections: Overall- The boots feel like a dream and are so pulchritudinous in style. I get complimented every time I wear them and am pretty sure I hear my feet singing "je vous remercie" every time I wear them. These boots had me at her name, Joan of Arctic Wedge, not only because it is important to support other strong women in the sisterhood of strength and femininity, but because there is something divine in a fine wedge boot. Comfort: These boots are so simple to slip on and go about the day and are like walking in comfortable slippers. My large flat feet adore them and I can't emphasize enough their comfort; their is no pinching or tightness anywhere- these feel like custom made shoes. Style: The style is on fleek; however, one thing to be aware of that took 3 calls and 2 returns is that the Joan of Arctic Wedge is distressed. My first pair had a black mark and the second and third had scratches on them. Please let me quantify and say that I'm a huge fan of distressed items, but since the description did not mention the shoes being distressed and it took the third customer service rep from Zappos to get someone with product knowledge on the line, I was not aware that all the distressing was intentional. Zappos legendary customer service was wonderful as ever so suffice it to say that these shoes are gorgeous and part of the look is the distressing so don't be alarmed if they arrive with marks on them. Also, as much of a fangirl as I am of these boots and recommend them, please be aware of the boot's one style limitation (heresy to state, I know). A lady may get away with them on a more casual day at work, but the style is not business professional.

I arrived home to find my beloved Zappos box on my doorstep. After wearing a different boot (3” chunky heel) all day, I immediately tried on the contents of my box and was transported to boot heaven! These boots accommodate my high instep, high arch and wide foot. The sole has a cushy feeling that I love. Walking is pure comfort and ease. Just because my foot has some extraordinary features, don’t let it sway you from buying these fabulous boots! I will be ordering another pair in a different color!!!

I've had these for about 10 months now. I live in the Colorado Rockies, so I can say that they're perfect for really cold weather, stable on ice and snow. Never had snow leak in, or been in pain after using them all day. I wear them with jeans and work pants. LOVE THEM! Worth every penny!

I have wider feet than most so it only felt narrow on my left foot and only the top of the boot. I used shoe stretchers (with thick socks) and they are perfect. Also inserted some gel support since I plan to be walking a lot in these on my trip overseas. They are such a beautiful looking boot. They go with any outfit. Will update my review after my trip to see how they hold up to rain, snow and lots of walking.

I was so excited to buy these because a friend of mine highly recommended them. I will say that they are super comfortable and look fantastic. I wore them all day with lots of walking to a football game. By the end of the day my feet hurt but I had worn these wedge heels for hours of standing on my feet! The drawback? They were SO SLIPPERY when they met water on the ladies' room floor and in the stadium halls. They might be meant for rain, but beware once you get inside. I almost killed myself when I slipped and fell. I've hesitated to wear them since, but wonder if the soles weren't worn down enough not to be slippery on wet indoor surfaces. I'm not ruling them out completely - yet - but BEWARE

These are a stylish lifesaver! They are warm and waterproof but not bulky. They are super cute and I can stand or walk in them all day with no problem!

I absolutely love these boots! Very warm, comfortable, and super stylish! I have been using them in the rain and they are great. I also have a wider foot and my feet are very happy in these boots.

I adore this boot so much that I bought one pair in brown and the other in black! I have yet to find a boot I like better that can hold up to some weather and wear, yet look good and provide enough comfort for me to wear all day long. I work as a photographer outdoors and indoors, on my feet with heavy equipment all day... this boot provides the right amount of ruggedness so I can shoot anywhere I want, but also style so I still look good doing it ;)

I bought these boots for a ski trip and loved them. They're incredibly comfortable walking around, but as a past reviewer commented, they're slippery on slushy sidewalks. I didn't have a problem wearing thick socks but prefer to wear a silk sock for more comfort. I wear them all the time in chilly weather.

when I saw them I had to order them "just to see" - they were so expensive, I never thought I would keep them. But once I tried them on I had to keep them because they were so comfortable, and oh so pretty. For the whole winter, I didn't want to wear anything else, because they were just so comfortable - sturdy in snow and rain, cushioned enough to walk in for hours. At the time I would have given them a six out of five because I was so so so so happy. BUT, they didn't hold up well. True, I wore them 4-5 times a week for a few months, but they still lost their shape and got a little dumpy looking faster than I thought they should have, especially given how expensive they are!!! By winter's end they looked just a bit too worn to go to work, slightly misshapen, and crinkly all along the shaft. They were always a bit on the casual side, but when they were new they could pass -- now they look like used work boots, and that's not a good look for them. Still comfortable though.

I have owned these boots for two full years and they are by far my favorite go-to boot in the fall-winter-spring. They are waterproof and my feet have never felt wet in them. Every time I wear them I get compliments when I am out and about town. Other people who own a pair of these boots often stop me to tell me they have them too and share their love for them. This past winter I wore these virtually every day - even in snow - and never had wet feet. They are comfortable to walk in for longer distances. I plan to purchase another pair this fall! Perfect for midwest fall and winter seasons. LOVE THESE BOOTS!!

Amazingly comfortable shoes! Wore these on a date and walked all around the zoo in them. No ankle rolling, super grippy bottom treads. Didn't even feel like I had heels on. Gorgeous soft brown leather, amazing color. Love these, they're my new favorite shoes.

I’d wanted these shoes for several years, but didn’t know if I could justify the price. Well, they went on sale, I bought them, and I LOVE them! Very high quality and comfortable. I did size down half a size like I normally do for Sorel, and they fit well.

When I first seen this boot I wanted it along with 3 other different kind.. I put the boot on and it felt so comfortable.. I can't wait to try them out this weekend out with my son for his bday..

I finally bought these after looking at them for a year. Worth the wait- I just wish I’d bought them sooner!! I bought my ‘normal’ size (even thou I need the Sorel Lea wedge Inwear 1/2 size up) and will wear with normal socks. I have the laces tied very loose to slip on and off easier and they stay on my feet great, very similar to the Lea wedge fit. They are definitely a wear-all-day boot!
