I didn't want to like these boots bcuz I feel the price is outrageous. However these handcrafted boots are like nothing else you've ever had. The quality of the materials and craftsmanship is nothing like any boots made in china. Superior fit and softness for days. Natural materials mold to the shape of your foot, giving individual fit. I have a normal job and the price for these is steep. I didn't want to like them but I love them and I now have 3 pair of la canadienne boots

So here's what happens; we tell ourselves it's too expensive, we could find something just as good, something we'd be happy with, and herein lies the pattern of thinking we should expect less and economize...but in truth what happens is if we pass on the very thing we love, we tend to spend twice as much attempting to purchase its equal, feeling regret when we cannot find it again, and spending hours scouring the internet searching for what we passed on. Like Christian Dior said; "Don't buy much, but be sure what you buy is good." This boot is worth the money. It's soft, and comfortable with ample room in the toe box, the calf is accommodating for a larger circumference, and right out of the box it's just perfect. I am usually a size 10.5-11. I purchased the size 11 and am delighted with it. I can wear a light or heavy sock, and the boots really fit beautifully. The color is a mushroom color. So chic. You could wear these in any kind of weather. The sole is well designed to add good grip in snowy, rainy, muddy, or icy conditions. I intend to wear these in warmer weather too. So, if you're on the fence, and you're scrolling through the reviews just hoping to find that one review that will justify you passing on these boots, this isn't the one. I say; if you can swing it, buy them. Get one right pair, and get rid of the idea of finding it's cheaper alternative. Life is too short to settle.

These boots were incredibly comfortable, beautifully made and great for a shorter girl since they weren't too tall or over the knee. (I'm 5'0") At this price point I wanted them to be perfect. I didn't care for the zipper on the outside of the leg. Just a personal preference. At 300$ I might have kept them but it bugged me enough that at 525$ I'll continue looking.

I have very small calves and have always had a very difficult time finding knee-high boots that my legs don't swim in. These are still a bit loose around my legs, but not too bad. I love the height and the soft outer material. I only wish there was more cushion in the footbed. It's a bit hard and doesn't offer such great arch support. But other than that, these boots are stylish and warm. Even though they're a bit pricey, I'm keeping them because I rarely find boots that have small calf openings like these!!!

Just buy these boots! Once you try them on, the price is SO very worth it! The execution is phenomenal. The comfort, basic style, WATERPROOF, insulated! Exceptional quality. You really can tell by how much thought and care La Canadienne takes in creating a versatile and life long product. These will be with me for years. Just get them already!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these boots! Casual yet stylish, super comfortable and warm! The leather and lining around the legs keeps me toasty, but not sweaty. I've worn them with skinny jeans, leggings and dresses and they look great with all three. The toe box is rounded and gives me plenty of room to wear thicker socks. I also love that they're waterproof. I ordered my usual size and they're perfect. A bit pricey but you do get what you pay for. I have another pair of La Canadienne boots that are 10 years old and I'm still wearing them.

I was eyeing this boot for a long tme and finally made the plunge. Love the color stone. Goes with everything. I love the lug sole and the contrast of the color of the heel against the boots. I am not in love with the zipper on the lateral side, but I love the boot so much I will just deal with it. It turned out to not be a deal breaker for me. My calves are not the slimmest, so I have been wearing them inside the house to make sure that I would eventually be able to zip them all the way up. So far, so good. They're snug, but definitely stretch. At times I have had to purchase a 'wide calf' in a boot. I'm actually shocked that I made them work. Now I even got them zipped up over leggings. You just have to have patience. While watching TV and sitting, I would just zip them up in small increments at a time over 4-5 days. I'm so happy with them. I love La Canadienne. By far the most comfortable brand I have ever worn. I also have the 'Camilla,' which I would call the short version. I can't keep both, so I most likely will return those.

I love these boots,! Sadly, they are too close to a pair I already own, so I'm sending them back. However, these are top notch quality. The fit around the calf is a bit tight, which I don't usually have an issue with. But I think that's because of the great lining inside. I can tell that these would be warm and comfy in lots of cold weather.
If you're looking for a pair of boots that will last you years and years, these are definitely the ones!

I kid you not, I have been eyeing these boots for over a decade. I even ordered them once, and returned them, because I couldn't justify the expense. Then recently, a very sensible review here pushed me to purchase (and keep!) a pair of the Cecile boot in light brown. The reviewer reminded me that I have probably spent gobs more money on a cheaper imitation, rather than on what I really want. Why have 5 things you like "pretty good," rather than that ONE thing you LOVE. You get what you pay for, and that's a fact, Jack! This was a careful and deliberate purchase, and at last, I will get to walk around in these well-made, attractive, classy/classic boots! I plan to wear them this coming Colorado fall, winter, and spring with skirts (short and long), skinny jeans, leggings, dresses... The neutral (light truffle-like) color will go with pretty much any color, bright or muted or dark or patterned. It felt so good to finally unpack these boots, and to give myself the gift of quality and fashion. I have already been going through my closet and consigning or giving away those boots that I "just like." Hello, boots that I love! May you serve me for years, and may I purchase some of your siblings at some point, and make room in my closet for less and better.
On a more-detailed note, I usually wear a 9, sometimes an 8.5. I decided to get the 8.5, as I'd like to wear the boots with thinner tights in the winter. If you wear thicker socks, don't size down like I did. I haven't worn the boots for any length of time, but they appear to provide adequate support. I may insert a slender cushioned orthotic, since I walk a lot to and from work. On another note, I would say that these boots are sturdy, rather than sleek. That is, they have a thickness to them, not a slender look. But they do not gape at the calves (I have "normal-size" calves, neither slender nor large). I like the look of my legs in the boots. The suede is substantial and beautiful-looking. The heels are blocky, with tread on the sole. True: the zipper is at the outside of the boot. But in fact, I think that will be good for me, and will avoid the problem of zippers rubbing together while walking. I can't wait until it gets cool enough to wear these boots!

I have four pair of La Canadienne boots, all in brown. I decided it was time for a pair of black boots, and after a year of searching, this is the one I've settled on. At first, I thought the zipper on the side was a little "showy" for my understated hippie style, but I've gotten to like it. Honestly, it's functionally not the best design -- the first time (okay, three times) I crossed my legs I shredded my nylons, and it's a genuinely tricky balancing act to be undoing the zipper with a purse on my shoulder and a grocery bag in my hand. The fit is hard and supportive-- not soft like a comfort shoe, but I bought a $12 pair of insoles + thin wool socks, and I'm happy. The all-terrain sole and waterproof factor initially won me over to La Canadienne, and the round toe on this pair plus the warmth of the high boot on a cold day is keeping me in the fold. I love that I can wear these from the office to the hiking trail. Just the right boots for me.

This is my 3rd pair of La Canadienne. Yes, they are pricey, but worth every penny. My first two pair I bought in 2009, I am just now replacing them. Year over year, they actually cost less than buying a new pair every two years or so. They are absolutely beautiful and comfortable!

Super cute boots and very well-made, which is my experience with La Canadienne. Bought my first pair several years ago and they simply can't be beat. I've ordered and returned a few pairs these past few weeks as I've been searching for the perfect boots for walking all over London in December and I've settled on Pax rather than Cecile, primarily because of the heel. For some reason, the Cecile doesn't feel as padded and shock absorbent in the heel as the Pax, and this is really my sole deciding factor (haha, a pun), plus I can't afford to buy more than one pair. Additionally, my calves are fairly small and the Pax provides a somewhat more snug fit, although, if it weren't for the heel issue, I would have been hard-pressed to decide between the two pairs. Decisions, decisions. Overall, if you're able to spend the money, La Canadienne makes GREAT boots and Zappos makes trying on the different style a possibility. (:

Blondo. Not quite as comfy but totally waterproof and definitely more affordable.

These are beautiful, but for over $500.00, they should be perfect. The hem at the top of one boot was misaligned, so it’s lifting up/coming undone. Unfortunately I didn’t notice until after I had worn them, otherwise, I would have returned them. For this price point, I expected better craftsmanship.

I love the look of these babies. Nothing high-falutin' about them and just enough tailoring for me. Beautifully made and kind of my 70's era dream aesthetic. Alas, they seem to run a little long for me, so they went back. I'm going to try a smaller size. Fingers crossed that the smaller size works for my foot.

I really wanted to keep these boots, but unfortunately, they are being returned. I read reviews, and no one had the problem I did. The zipper slouched and rubbed on my outside ankle bone. The fit was wonderful in the boot itself, but my right ankle did not like that zipper! Like usual, Zappos was great with the return. Thank you, Zappos!

I was looking for a flat sturdy boot with warmth for a trip to Colorado to ski. These did not disappoint. They are beautiful out of the box and on. Zipper is high quality and these have generous room to wear leggings or skinny jeans under. I feel the price is a bit high, but I cashed in some Amex point to offset that a bit. My other pair of LaCanadienne's are still as gorgeous as the day I bought them, so I will stand behind this brand and it's attention to quality.

I have been looking for the perfect suede lug sole boot for a while and thought these were it. The shape of the toe is great, but the width of the shaft was so wide, it looked like a slouch boot on me! I'm 6' tall and athletically built, so I was surprised but that, even made sure I wasn't sent "wide calf" by mistake. Sadly they are getting packed up and sent back, and my search continues...

Why is the zipper on the outside?! Unfortunately, they fit great, but with the zipper being on the outside(weird) I will destroy my tights when I cross my legs with the zipper.

I owned the same La Canadienne boots except the zipper was on the inside of the leg shaft versus the outer side. The boots gave 9 (!) winters of incredible comfort, style and service. They split in both soles earlier this month. They owed me nothing and I basically had worn them out. Very sadly I threw them out. I was very happy to find these boots which are almost identical! Same size fits like a glove (but comfortably) all over again. I found my original pair on super sale on Black Friday but this time around I bought at full price knowing how well these boots are made and how many years they can last!

These boots are delicious. It took a couple tries to get the correct size, but I am super happy and say they fit to size. The leather is instantly soft and comfy and the style is beautiful. I would normally not spend this much on boots but I think these are worth I! I am a size 7.5 with med-wide feet. The zipper on the outside is clever, but does catch on things so have to be careful what leggings you wear or don't cross your legs.

I originally ordered a size 7, which was a half size too big. I ordered a 6.5, but unfortunately received size 7 boots in a box marked 6.5, so am sending the replacements back too... :(
