I will need to re-rate this once owned longer. My 5 year old wore this twice for all of 30 minutes each time. To go on and off the bus ride to school. Nothing rigorous and no playing. Yet s hole wore into the outter shell in those 2 short wears. The north face is making it right and I am hopeful that hole was a fluke. Both the outter jacket and inside fleece are thinner than jackets with the same, making them more comfortable to wear without sacrificing warmth.

Love the colors, got the orange. But that was it. The fleece lining comes out the sleeve when putting the jacket on, the shoulder width needs to be gusseted for comfort and mobility. We went into the store and tried on with a sweatshirt. The next size up was big on me! So it was not an option AT ALL! But the sleeves are so long on this. Isn't proportion to the coat. Will hesitate to buy NF again for a child.

Not sure this jacket is ready for freezing temperatures. It is a light weight jacket, and there is no labeling or advertising information I can find that indicates what temperature the coat is rated at. For $140, this may not be a good value if it has to be layered with other clothes for freezing temperatures.

This is the second Triclimate jacket I have purchased for my son. The first one was so great - he wore the fleece every day and then would add the shell for camping and snow skiing. It held up very well. He just grew out of it, so I ordered the same jacket in XL. He is 13 and about 5'6" with a slim build. The fit was great, but the fleece was thinner and it didn't have pockets. He immediately said he didn't want it without pockets so I returned it.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
The name of this "triclimate" jacket is totally misleading. There is nothing "three seasons" about this jacket at all. It consists of a mid-weight rain jacket with a removable inner fleece. Unless you live in Florida or in a similar warm weather climate, you won't be wearing this jacket in the winter.

I did not buy this directly from TNF, but got it at Rocky Mountain Trail. I've noticed NF has been trimming little things off of the boy's lines of products that are crucial to the product. In this case, there are no hand pockets with zippers in the fleece jacket. What's the point of a lightweight fleece jacket that you can't put your hands inside to keep warm? Fatal flaw. It essentially makes the third option of this jacket useless, as it's already quit thin, and without a place to warm your hands, it's staying in the closet. Look elsewhere or pay more.

We bought this jacket for my 13 yr old son. We wanted to get him a North Face because he's old enough to spend decent money on a good product. He choose green as its his favorite color. We liked the idea of 2 pieces that fit together giving him options. When we received it we were disappointed in how thin and unsubstantial this product was. Both layers felt inferior and cheap.!plus the size just fit him he would barely get a year out of it. This product was no good enough for NYC winters! We immediately went to our local NF store and exchanged it for a bigger size and better jacket.

I buy North Face Jackets every year for my kids ages 11 & 12. I bought this one for my 12 year old and he wore it one time up skiing. Complete failure. There was water droplets on the INSIDE of his sleeves!!! Worst jacket ever. I had to give him my jacket because this was wet all the way thru. Cut my ski day short. Yes, its cute. So if you're looking for a lightweight winter jacket then this is for you. But don't plan to be skiing in it or be in freezing temps.
