The boots are exceptionally comfortable, and that is why I have bought 4 pairs, and keep coming back. They are light and waterproof at first up to the tongue. I hike and work in my boots all day, usually off-trail in the backcountry doing conservation work. The biggest negative for me is the loss of waterproofness after the first month or so. They are also not very durable. The lug pattern grips very well but wears out after several months, and you slide around. The stitching holds up, but the sole delaminates and wears out. I gave it 4 stars because they are comfortable and light, but I put them through a lot and they are probably geared more towards the average trail user.....I'll be willing to buy boots more frequently if it means I get more comfortable shoes on my feet.

I bought these shoes for a hiking trip to a national park. I could not recommend them enough, they are very comfortable to walk around in and have amazing shoe grip for climbing rocks. The only issues I had with the shoe were the breathability and waterproofing. Walking around in the shoes for a while leads to the shoe getting a little hot so I would recommend using these shoes in colder weather. For the waterproofing, the tongue of the shoe is not waterproof so stepping into deeper water leads to the shoe getting soaked. But if the shoe's tongue is above the water, the shoe is completely waterproof.

Super comfortable boot, light weight. Wore them hiking in Several California National parks. Good traction. Held well on steep rocks as well as sand. Waterproof all the way up. (Turns out if you step in water deeper than the boot your feet will still get wet!) Only knock at all is they don't breathe super well. I expect that from a waterproof boot, but these were a little 'warmer' than usual. I hiked in everything from snow to 75* desert.. the 70's were pushing it for warmth. I wouldn't wanna hike in these if the temp was in the upper 70's or 80's.... Overall a great boot so far though.

For the price, these boots are comfortable, have good traction with good build quality. I think that the synthetic leather is a bit obvious in these, but again, for the price they're great. Just don't expect them to last much longer than 2 years. I've already noticed some degrading of the materials after six months with my other pair (same model, different size).

Reasonably comfortable boot, mostly used as a daily shoe. I do find they tend to wear out after about 5 months though.

This was my first purchase of a Columbia hiking boot and will not be my last. The shoe fits very well with little break-in required for my feet wearing medium weight wool blend socks. I purchased the Newton Ridge Plus II Waterproof boot for dog walking and general exercise walking on streets. The shoes are waterproof in wet grass and have good traction on wet grass and both wet and dry roads. The shoes are very comfortable overall and are stylish with color accents and shoe laces. I think these shoes are a great value and I highly recommend them.

This is my 5th pair of these boots. They are fantastic. The fit is perfect and they are comfortable right out of the box. The tread grips well and the waterproof feature works great. Ive hiked and walked in the rain and snow (packed snow mountain trails) in temperatures as low as 5 degree and with a good pair of wool socks my feet have always stayed warm and dry. They arent insulated so I think standing or not moving much in the cold would be different.

These boots are perfect. Waterproof, comfortable, as long as you get some good inserts, and great for light/moderate hiking. I mainly use them for disc golf because of the support and grip given by the m. I bought my first pair 3 years ago and they finally leaked this past spring. The color options are appropriate as well. Nothing too flashy, but tasteful enough to go to dinner/date as well.

Hey I love the shoe, but I hoped there would be care and maintenance instructions in the box. Alast, they were not. I'm hard on shoes and like to help make them last. Help?

As soon as I got them, I took for average 10 miles/day for 3 day long weekend. I hiked through different kinds of terrains - rocky, muddy, slippery, stream crossings, etc. and they held well. My only issue is that the laces come undone often.

I have yet to actually take them on a hike, but in everyday use they are extremely comfortable and ive been able to walk through a foot of snow no problem. The break in period was also nearly nonexistent. The tread is a bit squishy so they are probably best suited for wet or muddy trails, but overall they look and feel good. One issue ive seen is that there is a small amount of separation of the sole from the rest of the shoe, but so far it hasnt caused any problems.

I bought these as a replacement for an old pair of boots that were no longer waterproof. Great boot for the price, very comfortable, supportive, good quality, and looks great. The one con is that I did not go with the 14W. I have flat feet, which widens their footprint and expanded the bottom of the boot. The stitching on the sides of the boot just behind the toes expanded but did not come apart and it was only noticeable if you looked closely. I believe though, that the small amount of expansion rendered the boots no longer completely waterproof. So if you have a wide foot, order the wide size, as they will still seem perfectly fine and comfortable but the integrity of the boot may lower due to excess strain.

Good price and reasonably good shoe. I got them for urban walking around when it is raining. The price was right and they came very quickly.

Solid construction. Good looking. I like the rubber sole for its superior traction. But two improvements can still be made: 1. The base (sole) should be made a little wider than the top. 2. Make the shoes breathable.

The shoes looked sturdy. When I tried them on they fit a little too loose. Not a half size bigger, just loose. Also, they were more stiff than I am comfortable wearing. I am still interested in Columbia brand shoes, just not this style.

Stylish urban hiker for groomed trails. Sole is adequate for day hikes but too pliable for multiday off trail scrambling. Would not wear these over rocky terrain- not tough enough. Fit well but tongue needs to be 1/2= inch longer/taller to better protect ankle from laces when fully laced. Good for backyard partys & messy urban weather. My older Columbia boots (same style) have lasted 25 years by re-gluing soles when needed, but they seem a little bit tougher than this new model. Time will tell....
