These are good walkers. I would not run in them. They are bulky, which gives great support, but aren't are lightweight as I would like for runner. I save these for walking and have been happy with them for that purpose.

This is my second pair. I wore the first ones all winter--I like the extra deep tread for uneven ground.

Shoes are very stiff, but surprisingly comfortable. I have wide feet, and the toebox is still very wide. Not sure what people are talking about saying they are narrow. Very rugged and sturdy, insoles are flat and useless, so I have replaces with an orthotic. Walked 5 miles in them the first day with no issues or blisters.

How come can’t find these gel kahana 8 in purple anymore. Looked every where.

I always order a size larger in running shoes. These still seemed small and NARROW! My foot runs narrow, but these shoes are actually tight. Good support, but feel "hard", not much give to them. Walked around family room and my feet were already beginning to hurt.

Good running shoe

I've generally been pretty happy with the Asics Gel series. I wasn't that happy with the fall 2018 offerings, though, so I re-bought this pair. Overall, these stand up to a lot of hard use--I walk about two miles most work days and go to the gym. These hold up to that kind of treatment for about 9 months (which, realistically, is not bad for what I do to them). One weird thing has affected both pairs of these I'e owned. For some reason, the fabric at the top of the collar frays through within the first three weeks, on the inside of the shoe. However, this is easily fixed with a fabric repair patch, and this doesn't seem to happen anywhere else.

I rotate 2-3 pairs of running shoes and liked these really well other than the laces were unbelievably short---barely long enough to tie, let alone double-knot. Would have given straight 5 stars for longer laces and the ability to tighten around my narrow heal with extra eyelet but just could not.

I love how these shoes look, but the heel is very narrow. I don't have wide feet, i use normal width, but it still hurts the back of my ankles.

I bought these to replace a pair of Asics Gel-Kahanas that I've been wearing for almost 10 years. The originals have been such a good fit for my long, narrow, flat feet. I've tried other brands and styles but this is the one for me. I think these will serve me well.

Just need to break these in, really love them!! Great looking too!!

I'm not sure how to evaluate the size because sizing has become very inconsistent, not just with Asics, but every shoe I buy. I used to be an 8, no varying. Now, I can be anywhere from 7.5 to 9 depending on the shoe. The last two pairs of Asics I got ran small--meaning I got an 8 and had to go up to 8.5. They were different styles of Asics. With these, I ordered the 8.5 figured Asics has changed sizing. Well, they are very long. However, they are also pretty narrow. I could barely get my foot in the shoe. Once I got them on, it wasn't so bad. I am not going to try the 8 because even if the length is ok, I think they are too narrow. Once my feet get warm and expand, I am afraid they will be too tight. I still like Asics. They give me good support and stability. I just wish it wasn't so hard to get the right size. Glad Zappos has an easy return policy.

Man! These felt tight and I ordered a half size larger than normal. I wear and 8 returning the 8 1/2 for a 9!

I really wanted to love these. I loved the color scheme on the Black/Island Blue/Pink Glow ones (it's nice to not have a white sole) but the cut out for my ankle bone was too high and rubbed my foot raw even when I tried a heel insert. The rest of the shoe was very comfortable, nice roomy toe-box and decent arch support.

I was looking for a stiffer-soled athletic shoe to wear at work (nursing, 8-10 hour days on my feet!), and this fit the bill for me. I've worn Asics running shoes for years, so I hoped these would be on par with previous good experiences -- so far they are, but I don't have any previous Kahana experience to compare them to. I have high arches and a narrower foot; I think those who have a wider foot might find this to be a snug fit in the forefoot & toebox. The heel cup seems to hold my foot well, too, which has been a problem for me in the past with other shoes; my variety of plantar fasciitis has been calming down since changing to these at work. There was a spot on the left shoe that rubbed uncomfortably until I found the right combination of laces tightness & tongue positioning, but hasn't been a problem since then. I liked them enough that I bought a second pair, but I haven't taken those out for a run. Soles look like they could handle a moderate trail, but I wouldn't take them out on a really rough course. Would appreciate colors other than combinations of gray, but it covers stains and marks well! I think these, like some of the other recent Asics, might be great for some but frustrating for others; I had no worries about trying them out thanks to Zappos' awesome shipping & returns!

I wanted to love this shoe, color was great, arch was pretty good, style really cute but the shoe made my heel roll out when I took a step. Instead of being flat or neutral the heel was too soft for my step.

As a long-time Asics user, I had never tried the Kahana shoe. I was looking for a shoe that I could wear in my circuit class and other aerobics classes at the gym. This shoe did not disappoint! It is both comfortable and has great arch support. The Island Blue version has nice coloring and wont show the dirt.

This shoe was about a half size small and run very narrow. It does have great arch support. They are very stiff and the bottoms are very slippery on tile floor.

This is my second pair of Kahanas and they're awesome. They run a bit narrow, which is perfect for me. I went on a rugged, 8 mile hike this first day and have no complaints. Excellent traction on mountain trails and rocky scrambles, but much less cumbersome than a hiking boot.

I like this pair of Asics much better than my last pair (ASICS GEL-Flux 3) because it has more arch support. I had a pair several years ago that were even better, but I cannot recall the name of those to search for them again. I have normal to high arches and use these running on roads, but I expect to use them for hiking as well.

People were not kidding about this being a snug fit. The width is on the narrow side, which works for me. The arch doesn't hit at the right spot for me (I can feel it way up in my forefoot and started hurting within 5 minutes of wearing), so I'll have to return.
