I have tried A LOT of coats this year and was hoping this one would fit the bill. First off, I'm pear shaped so I'm a medium on top and large on bottom. That makes shopping for long coats and dresses incredibly hard. Nothing is designed to fit my body ever. I saw that this ran large on people and thought the medium might work. Out of the box, it did! However, I wore it around my house a little and realized quickly there are a few things about this that would not work. 1. It's a straight silhouette, so there's not really a defined waist which made it gap around the middle for me. 2. The pockets are on top of the stomach area, so if you use them for anything, it makes your stomach look bigger than it is. 3. The hand pockets are too small. I can fit my hands and nothing else. I like to at least be able to carry my phone, bus pass and a pair of gloves. That said, if it fits you, it would be very comfy and warm. It's a great alternative to down for the freezing weather and the hood stays up on it's own!

After reading the reviews I decided to order this coat in a medium. When I received the coat it was way too big on me. I'm 5'8", 135 lbs. I had to return it and unfortunately did not exchange it for a small because they did not have it in a small.

I've been having a very hard time finding the perfect insulated waterproof coat. This is a high quality coat, but the pockets are in an awkward location and also aren't deep enough for me. I also feel like the hemline is a bit strange looking.

I really liked the coat but it was to tight around my arms and shoulders.

I purchased this jacket a few months ago for winters in Ohio. I just moved here from California and needed a quality jacket that would keep me warm and dry, and last a few years. So far the jacket has been perfect in every way, execpt for the hood. I began having problems with the detachable hood. Occasionally I would hear one or two of the clips un-clip just going about my daily routine. I do wear a backpack frequently for my profession which would cause the hood to un-chip, but it also would un-clip if I pulled it too hard by the hood. Recently, the hood detached completely without me realizing and it is now lost. I asked if I could purchase another hood, since the hoods seem to come off too easily to not be able to purchase a replacement, and I was told that they do not sell hoods by themselves. So I am pretty much out of luck. I can buy a new one and then have one with a hood and one without, or I can go somewhere else and find a quality jacket that does not have an unbuckle-able hood and is stylish. I do always regard North Face products with high esteem and I am sad to say but this product has ended up a bit disappointing.

I wanted to love this jacket so badly, but it just didn't work for my body type. 5'11 and 155#, athletic and slim. It was way too narrow in the shoulders - I couldn't lift my arms past parallel to the ground without the whole jacket coming up with it, and it looked like I was wearing a tent. I almost kept it because I wanted it to be right, but it just wasn't a good fit on me. Super warm, though, and the sleeves are a good length for the monkeys among us.

I'm 19 years old, 5'4" and 130lbs.. The website told me I would be a size small if I wanted it to fit tight, so that's what I ordered. When it finally arrived, I was very dissapointed in the small and how big and loose it was. Now I have to return it and hope the XS isn't too big. The small fit really wide around waste and butt, leaving too much extra room for it not to be a tight fit like how I wanted...

I kept this jacket mostly because I needed to wear it around long enough to decide if I should send it back or not. And I needed to wait for colder weather to judge how it would stand up in the elements. First of all, as another review stated, the hand and breast pocket zippers are child size. I got so frustrated with them getting buried in the seams that I went online and ordered 3 zipper pulls. Problem solved. North Face, please do everyone a favor and add this minor detail. Next complaint would the fabric. The description said it had some stretch to it. But by no "stretch" of the imagination does this fabric have any added mobility. I am 6'2" and ordered an XL because of sleeve length. With an undershirt and sweater on, the sleeves barely make it to my wrist bones. I do understand that these coats are not tailored for tall women, but sizing up typically alleviates that issue. The coat is a little snug across the shoulder blades and because the fabric does not give, the sleeves ride up. Alongside that, there are cuffs hemmed in but they are also not very long and do little for wind/cold protection. because the sleeves are tapered from shoulder to wrist, I cannot even fit my hand up inside the sleeve to pull down my shirt sleeves that are all scrunched up my my elbow. What I will say is that the jacket itself has a nice flattering shape to it, is water and wind repellent, and sits at just the right place on my thighs. If it had longer sleeves, STRETCH to the fabric, and zipper pulls for the baby zipppers, I would have given this a 5 star review.

The jacket is comfortable, Ironically enough haven't used in the rain yet (the week I received the jacket, the sun decided to come out). The main thing that bugs me is that the zippers are so TINY! I feel like putting a paper clip on the zippers so that I could open/close the pockets. The back of the jacket is longer than the front which keeps my bum warm, the sleeves are a bit long (the cut is different: shorter by the thumb, longer by the pinky). I ordered it in Medium Grey (thought it looked a little darker than the picture) but the ridiculously small zippers is why I am giving it 3 stars...

In comparison to a discontinued Northface jacket I had for 5 years I was disappointed with this jacket but because this was most similar to the old one I decided to keep it and just deal. However, this week there has been a huge storm where I live and the hood on this jacket is absolutely infuriating. It is attached to the coat by a line of 5 snap buttons (1 of which is faulty and doesn't even snap). If I pick the jacket up by the hood, it detaches. If I pull the hood up too hard or too fast, it detaches. There are 20mph winds and heavy rain today and my hood detached in the middle of it three times in the course of running errands this morning. I'd return it but my child got paint on it. I will probably just donate it. Pros are that it is warm and I'd say somewhat flattering. It's not hugely bulky but definitely bulkier than I wanted.
