I've been running in Salomon Speedcross shoes for years and cannot kick the habit. They are designed for trails but I use them to run on pavement. They give me great support, are lightweight, very comfortable and cushion the stress of pounding on pavement better than any other sneaker I've tried. The only problem, no fault of Salomon's, is that the heel tread wears down after a few months because they are designed to run on dirt, not pavement, so it's a costly habit of mine but after trying other top quality running sneakers, I always find myself lured back to the Speedcross. I especially like the models that are made of Goretex which protects your feet from getting drenched navigating around or through nasty puddles and rainy days. I ordered this particular pair around 8pm one evening and to my surprise, was delivered on my doorstep the following morning! Great product! Great service! Thank you Zappos!

This is my third pair of Salomon Speedcross 4 GTX. I am 52 years old. These shoes hold u. They have great traction. They are light weight and have great support. I have shin splints and knee issues- these shoes enable me to continue to do things I love outdoors like running, hiking, etc.

This is my second pair of Speedcross. I have long narrow feet and I swim in many running shoes. These fit very well. I was initially concerned about the lacing mechanism but ti works fine, even when the shoes are wet. If you get muddy, you'll need to clean off the laces near the slider area or things get gummed up - just common sense. The first pair lasted through a year of hiking in sand (Zion, Grand Canyon and other UT/AZ locations) as well as alpine zones. They're still going strong but I wear them often enough I wanted a backup pair in case one pair was wet from the day before. Highly recommend!

Love these for running on frozen icy roads that are otherwise scary to step on for fear of falling. Winter running shoe. Fits great.

I love the Solomon Speedcross for trail running. I run on steep, loose, dry surfaces and the grip is fantastic. No more slipping when descending and much easier to push off in loose, sandy conditions on the ascent. Trails are also rocky and technical in certain areas and these shoes handle it like a champ.

I am so happy with these shoes, They fit so well and do not stand out with outrageous colors. I get alot of comliments on them even when I travel abroad. They are great in the snow too. I shoveled 14 inches of snow for 2 hors and never got wet feet. The wind does not go through them either. I am ordering another pair. They run LARGE I always order at least one half size smaller....

I bought these shoes for urban tracking and agility with my dog. Both sports require me to walk in the morning grass with dew and I was getting my shoes too wet. And my other shoes did not have adequate traction. These shows have been perfect - after 1 1/2 months my feet are still dry in the wet grass and provide excellent traction. They are lightweight and comfortable. I wear inserts for Plantar Fasciitis. At first the fit with the inserts was a little tight in the toes but after a little time it was no longer an issue. Alternatively, the regular insoles can be removed and replaced with whatever you need to wear. I also took them on a recent trip to the Canadian Rockies. They were very comfortable for some very rocky and steep hiking. Additionally when it snowed unexpectedly my feet stayed dry. Also when the snow turned slushy on the downhill the traction was perfect.

I needed a shoe for the fall / winter cooler/ cold weather, I ordered the Speedcross 3 & the Speedcross 4 GTX. I liked both shoes but what won me over was the GTX extra's such as the comfort padding & soul. I walk 6 miles 5 days a week on black top & always wear runners. As the weather changed so did the hardness of the black top (I know it sounds funny to me too) but it is true. Black top is non giving in the summer months but the cooler weather brought a new meaning to that statement! At 1st these shoes felt heavy, my summer shoes are Brookes mess light weights. @ 1st I was not thrilled about the quick-lace but I'm adapting. I do know these shoe will keep your feet warm @ 37* & up w/warm Duo Dry socks, I will be finding out if they will do the same for colder weather as the temp continues to drop. So far I would recommend Speedcross 4 GTX.

This is my 8th pair of Speedcross shoes. I can’t imagine finding a better overall shoe for active outdoor lifestyle. Unfortunately, this pair is substantially smaller than the other styles. Where 12 is generally a perfect fit, this 12 is so small I can only wear them with the thinnest of socks and cannot tighten the laces at all or it crushes my feet. I tossed the box when they arrived because they look soooo good! And I never imagined they wouldn’t fit just like the other 7. My bad. I should have sent them back.

Although I really liked the way the shoe looked on my feet unfortunately for me the heel of this shoes was somewhat wider than other Salomon athletic shoes I've tried. However, the shoe over all feels really good on the foot and the toe box is nice and wide. I loved the fact that it had the extra deep protective rubber toe caps since the tip of my big toe curls slightly upward, and then the constant rubbing of my toenail (even when it's cut down to the quick) wears excessively on the surface of the sock and shoe over it. Needless to say, I wear through the big toe area on most shoes that aren't made of leather or have a large rubber toe guard. I know that's not why the manufacturer puts the toe guard on the shoes but in my case the guard works both ways. This shoe has the best toe guard of all of the Salomon athletic shoes and had the heel been tighter would have been a keeper without a doubt.

If you have narrow feet, stay away. The shoe is relatively comfortable (very stiff, but that is good for a trail shoe) and attractive. But, it definitely has a wide last.

These are cute shoes and I wear supportive flats all the time as I have significant leg, ankle and foot problems. I wear Hoka One One to the gym for their thick soles and support, also some Asics, Keen for hiking, Alegria for daily wear. I thought these would be good for walking. But they are too narrow and just uncomfortable. They are rigid and the soles are thick and ridid. I take 7.5 in shoes and 8 in gym shoes and i ordered an 8 but they were too long and narrow. Oh, well!

I have to return them for a half size bigger--they are short. But I love the strong snug support around the rest of the foot. They feel formidable.

It fells slightly larger but I have bought many of these shoes and do not want it smaller. I already am buying 1/2 size smaller.
