I wanted to love these because I really need a waterproof sneaker with good grip. But they unfortunately did not work for me. Size: It took several orders, and returns to finally get the correct size. I’m usually a 7.5/8 in women’s shoes. The 8 was huge and the 7.5 I probably could have managed with but was still big and I felt like the toe area had excessive bend when I walked. I eventually ended up with a size 7 that fit best, which is bizarre because I am never a size 7! So the sizing is way off on the Solomon’s. The width is also. My foot is average to narrow width and these hugged my foot. They were slightly uncomfortably narrow. If you have wide feet these are not for you. I would even say they may be uncomfortable for anyone who doesn’t have narrow feet. Comfort: At first I thought they were so comfortable when I first started walking! I was happy I finally found that ruggged shoe!! But then..... after a few hours not only were they no longer comfortable they were insanely painful. I’m on my feet all day and walking on uneven terrain. The soles are very hard on these sneakers. Almost feels like you are walking with soccer cleats on, if you know that feeling. The pain was so bad my feet ached the entire night after I took them off and I had pain in my right hamstring/sciatic nerve area for two days following. I am young and in shape, and never ever had a shoe physically effect me in this way. Product Function: from the little bit I was able to try them, my feet stayed 100% dry! No other shoe, boot or sneaker was able to do that in constant wet dewy grass for me before. So I think the Gortex really is great. I’m not sure if it would hold up long term but definitely did for the little bit I tried wearing them. The grip was great, I felt sure footed the entire time. The easy lace system is okay. I could take it or leave it. I felt like it was harder to find the happy medium tightness with them. It made it too tight or too loose for me. And once you pulled the part and made it tight. It had an awkward extra lace just flapping around. There wasn’t anywhere to stick the lace into so it didn’t snag on anything. Only place was behind the tongue and it was uncomfortable feeling that. Overall: I think they are most likely functional and good for a short hike. I do not think I would want to go hiking for miles with these and I think it is going to be mostly uncomfortable for the average person.

I’ve owned a half dozen pairs of the Salomon Speedcross and truly love the style and durability for running trails in PA terrain. This was my first GTX purchase and my least favorite shoe. It feels like the sizing is off versus buying the same size for years. And the water proof outer layer (as opposed to water resistant w other shoe) makes for a poor fit to the foot. It’s just not breaking in the way that the other shoes did previously. I’ll continue to buy this brand but not the GTX.

The picture is misleading in color. For the black pair it shows the stripe as a sliver/grayish color but in reality the stripe is an aqua/blue/gray color. The silver would have been much better. Salomons have been comfortable for me in the past but this style isn’t so great for my high arched feet. They feel more narrow. And the material for the tongue is not wide enough. I got these as a Christmas gift, I hope I can still exchange them.

Had to return bc they were SO tight on my feet - I did exchange for a 1/2 size larger ...so to be continued - these don't work out I might try the X Ultra GTX

I have 4 pair of the Speedcross shoes. This pair does not feel the same. They are narrower and not as comfy.
