As a long time Gel Kayano fan I bought these expecting the same sort of fit as earlier models. That was not the case. The toe box is much snugger and made this model unsuitable for me. They appear to be well made, etc. but if you 're looking for the fit you've gotten used to from earlier versions this is not the shoe for you. Good news is that the Gel Kayano 24's have gone back to the traditional sizing.

Poorly designed shoe. I have really narrow feet, and even for me the toe box was way too tight. You cannot move your toes at all and it's extremely uncomfortable. It does have a lot of cushioning, but that doesn't do any good if your foot is completely compressed. Didn't have very good arch support either.

I ordered shoes and they feel okay to walk around in but not for extended running- my toes don't have enough space - caused blood blister on end of right front toe

The Kayano 23 is WAY too stiff for anybody under 220lbs. I'm 6' 170lbs and could not get this version to work. Felt like it had no usable cushioning. My foot would not pronate properly and would cause a slap or thunk. I'm usually a quiet runner. Not with this shoe. A shockwave would travel up each leg, causing fatigue and pain. This is the first version of the Kayano that Asics totally messed up. Also, the faster I ran, the worse the shoe worked. I put on a 50lb weight vest, making my weight 220lbs. The shoe began to kind of work, but only barely. I you are a very heavy person and you run really slow, this may be the perfect shoe for you. All others, stay away from this shoe even at a sales price.
I'd also recommend:
Kayano 21 or 22. Gt 2000 4 or 5

I used to run in GT-2000 and decided to order a pair of Kayanos when the new GT-2000 sizing changed. To be save I increased the size by a half size and the width to a 2E. The shoe was still too narrow and small.

I have been an Asics loyalist for years - until now. Very disappointed! I bought these Kayano 23's in a 2A narrow width and was happy with the glove-like fit for my narrow feet BUT the heels have changed so there is more space between the tongue/heel area that even with lace-locking these shoes dont hug the heel. Also not a smooth heel to toe transition and it felt like the shoe "slaps" the ground with the inflexible midfoot. The light new fabric on the top also didnt hold against even a mild -17 C winter weather. I ended up buying an older asics model from 2014 back with the snugger heels. I wanted to love these Kayanos so bad. New asics shoe models may not work for me anymore after 13+ years of all Asics. My all time favorites were GT 2000 2's - but even trying the new GT 2000 5's still have the new heel problem. :(

I have always bought Asics. I currently have 5 pairs, all 11.5. I bought this new pair and was very disappointed that they are too tight. Yet the same size. I will return for a 12. I hope they are not too big.

As an experienced runner (35 years, 25+ marathons, up to 85 miles per week) I have run in virtually every Kayano since the 8s and loved most every one. Not so with the 23. I'm not sure if it's the reconfigured gel or perhaps the new FlyteFoam, but I found the ride so hard as to be completely unacceptablegone is the Kayano's characteristically plush ride. Like others, I also had problems with fit. I've got a small foot8 or 8.5 in a dress shoe and very narrow. I've never had a moment's trouble slipping into a Kayano size 9.5, but suddenly I'm finding the forefoot cramped. The size 10, on the other hand, feels too big to reasonably consider. I will give them credit for the redesigned upper which moves nicely with the foot, but my compliments have to end there. If you're new to the Kayano, you might not realize what you're missing, but as a long-time, loyal fan of this shoe, I found the 23 extremely disappointing and hope that Asics brings back the Kayano that we all know and love.

I've been running in the Kayano for almost 20 years, and with the exception of one or two versions where they switched to asymmetrical lacing, thought each was a vast improvement on the others. I'm an experienced runner and marathoner who runs high mileage, so I'd like to think I know this shoe, and I'll tell you, the cushioning on the 23 is just horrible. Maybe it's the new foam they're using. I don't know, but the shoe just has no give. I also agree that the toe box is far too narrow. I have a small straight foot, and I can't even fit into the shoe. I hope Asics will take notice and bring back the Kayano's great ride and fit.

I have been wearing the Kayano for several years starting with the19. The 23 has a totally different feel. I now am scuffing my heels as I run and my feet and calves are tight after a run, even short mileage. The fit is also a lot tighter in the box. If Asics is going to change a shoe it should also change the name. This is not the Kayano that I am used to and loved!

I ordered these online, love the color...they are to narrow for me. Asics use to be the only shoes that worked for my feet; haven't found a pair that work for me to date. Sadly I will be returning these .
