I had to return this shoe because it slipped off my heal when I walked. I liked the shoe but going back to my tried and true Brooks Ravenna.

Love the look of the shoe but not enough cushion/padding under the big toe area.

This is a beautiful shoe but the wide (D) is too narrow in this style shoe. And it is a half size to small. I wear Brooks all the time this is the first time this happens.

Sadly, the Ghost 9 has undergone a few but significant style changes. I've been wearing every Ghost from 4-9 and this is the first time I've had to return them. #1 You'll need to size up 1/2 size, #2 The tip of the shoe does not have mesh so your toes will hit the leather #3 The tongue is shorter and does not have a loop to keep it in place. I'm very displeased with about these changes. At first I thought it might be a mistake so I took mine to a running store to compare - nope, the same. They noted it as well, especially the sizing.

I've worn the Ghost 7 and 8 and loved them, buying several pairs. This new version has something uncomfortable going on with the toe, so while I might have been comfortable if I'd gone another half size up, I'm just returning and trying a new style.

Very disappointing. Not at all like the last version. The toe cover is larger and hits my toe hard. Plus, there is total lack of cushion vs. the older version.

Wtf Brooks? These are incredibly painful. My feet felt bruised and cramped after wearing them for 15 minutes in my house! I usually wear Brooks GTS 9.5 wide, and had to get 10 in Ghost. Really don't understand where the pain came from but they were horrible!

I have worn Brooks Ghost running shoes for years and the Ghost 9 is the first to be uncomfortable. These run very small. I already go up a half size in running shoes to keep plenty of room in the toe, but these I would have to go up a full size to be comfortable. Also, I feel that the ankle support is less than previous versions of this shoe. I'm disappointed in the fit and quality. They are already packed up and on their way back. I will purchase to the Ghost 8 again instead.

Sigh! Asics Gels Nimbus for 5-6 years. They totally eradicate any lower leg injuries. Wanted a change, they are heavy. Tried these great looking (translate: not a total rainbow of spray pant) shows. But no arch support compared to Asics Nimbus. Just started on treadmill, and my lower legs felt it after a few miles so have to return. Might be great shoe for another person but not enough arch support for me.

i require a narrow shoe with a good arch support. The arch was not comfortable at all in teh Brooks Ghost 9, they almost hurt as the arch was too far back, so i put my Dr scholl's arch supports in which I wear in a lot of shoes and that was ok BUT the toe of the shoe seems really curved up, almost too small. I ordered a size 12 women's which I always order but these were just not comfortable and i kept tripping. I am thinking one needs to order a size larger so the arch is in a better place and the toe does not curve up so much. They will go back. I also ordered The Brooks Addiction 12 OMG are they comfortable no inserts needed. i normally wore the Adrenaline GTS 14 which i loved but they changed the model and I got the 16s and they were ok, but the new model 17s no way... back they went. Addiction go check them out.

I will be returning these. The foot bed is different than the prior Ghost 7 and 8. It provides no arch support and has a very wide toe box. The color is also more of a fire engine red than a pink. Not my shoe.

I have worn the Brooks Ghost for years, through multiple versions, and have always loved them. I recently bought the Brooks Ghost 9 and unfortunately the new padded collar digs right into my Achilles' tendon. It's only on my left foot and I thought maybe they just needed to be broken in. I've worn them for multiple walk/runs/workouts in the last several weeks and I continue to have the problem. Sadly I have to change shoes.

This shoe was a not like the other 3 pairs of Ghost 9's that I already own. The arch support is in a slightly different place and my feet surely noticed.

I have been wearing the Brooks Ghost model for years. I have always had to order a 1/2 size larger in the shoe but it was fine. The Ghost 9 is so small all my toes hit the end. Order at least a 1/2 size larger and possibly a full size.

These looked pretty good but did not have enough support or cushioning. Felt very clunky and awkward.

I've worn Brooks Ghost for 5 years. The new Ghost 9s have unfortunate changes which make them unwearable. The widened toe box means my foot is sliding around in the shoe like crazy. It was really uncomfortable to wear. I went to a running store and was advised to try the Brooks Glycerin. Tried them on and they're a much better fit - feels similar to the Ghost 7s and 8s. So if the new Ghost toe box is way too wide but you love the easy heel-to-toe transition of Brooks (and the comfort), go for the Glycerin. No size difference for me (9 in both). Asics Cumulus felt "ok" - comfortable, adequate toe box size - but I missed the easy "rocking" motion provided by Brooks. New Balance new foam shoe was light and comfortable but the outside of the heel felt weird, like it was forcing me up onto my toes. Ended up with Glycerins and excited to try them on the treadmill tomorrow.

Kim H wrote a review on Sept 17th that I may as well just repeat! I've worn Ghost 8 and just loved them. Got the Ghost 9, felt great out of the box. Wore them and they pinch the middle of foot, no matter how I lace them. My foot cramps up! Everything Kim said happens to me. I don't get it as they're a perfect fit...until worn running. Painful! Shopped around for some Ghost 8s on sale and will return these.

I agree with the July 21st review: I am also a serious, high-mileage walker who feels that the Ghost 8 is an excellent shoe. But buy removing the notch at the heel, the shoe now rubs painfully on my achilles tendon. Brooks did this with the Glycerin a year or so ago and had nothing but complaints. Why they have done it now with the Ghost 9 is just beyond me. So, I now must find a new shoe.

What did you do to my favorite sneaker??? I loved Ghost sneakers and have been wearing them for years After receiving my newest pair I expected the same instant comfort but they are so different. They feel stiff/plastic and they squeeze the middle of my foot. When any weight is placed on my foot for more than a few minutes, the arch area cramps up. I have to stop walking and pick my foot off the ground to get relief. After an hour of wearing this pair I took these mini torture chambers off my feet and printed out my return receipt. I'm bummed! Now I have to search for another sneaker brand.
