I use this jacket for brisk days walking around the city, or by itself for spring skiing. I have used it on colder days on the mountain but you obviously need a mid-layer. The colors could be a bit more cheery but otherwise the fabric and stretch and warm cant be beat. Highly recommend

Great jacket ! Just the right weight and feel. Awesome for out on the trail and terrific range of motion. I own two of these and probably will own three soon !

I use this jacket everyday on my commute to work. On colder days it can be worn with an insulating layer. Multiple zip pockets are also a great feature.

Got my new Gamma MX hoody in December 2020 and quickly realized it's as awesome (and in some ways better) than my beloved 2010 Gamma MX jacket! Got the hoody for increased utility (now I leave the hardshell at home when light rain is likely). Have a couple dozen outings on the new one, and can vouch... it's still rugged (doesn't show scrapes and light grinds)... still stretchy (doesn't overly-inhibit shoulder/arm movement)... still warm-ish (light 'loft' inside separates you from cold air/wind outside)... still weather-worthy (sheds light rain & snow)... and still very breathable (just doesn't clam up in most activities). Most notable changes... the new one has sealed seams (for less seapage in heavy cloud bursts, and maybe tougher)... different cuffs (less bulky now, but not as comfortable under gloves)... no zipper garages on the lower hand pockets (kinda miss those, but haven't had any problems w/o 'em)... no left shoulder pocket (kinda miss that too, but definitely not a crucial feature)... and smaller/lighter zippers (if they last as long as those on my older model, I'm OK w/smaller/lighter/more-packable). So... still the best softshell available after all these years (and still lovin' the twin chest pockets that keep my phone and wallet out of my pants)!!!

My business has been doing curbside service for the last year which means I spend a large part of my day standing outside talking to clients. I bought this jacket to be warm, weatherproof, and versatile. It has delivered. Only wearing a t-shirt under it, I'm comfortable from 35-55 degrees F. A light down underneath takes the comfort level into the teens. Works great in light rain. Works great against the wind. I also hike and bike in it and love the fit and all the external pockets.

I have mine for 3 years now, i use it from fall to spring, long hikes and MTB during winter. fit is perfect that has enough room for layers or fleece shirt. i wore it on my 50th birthday on the summit of mount Tammany NJ (Delaware water gap) blowing out my birthday candle in the mountain.

I bought this after I realized how much I miss my old Arc'teryx Epsilon jacket I sold. Not the same as the Epsilon but close enough with added features like the chest pocket which holds my Veilance wallet perfectly. Looks wonderful and the fit and feel is spot on. Looks amazing as a base layer with the Therme jacket.

As a pretty slim guy, I have a lot of trouble finding jackets that fit well and look good, and that I don't have to cinch shut at the bottom to achieve enough of a cut to retain warmth. This jacket was a little out of my price range, but I have friends that swear by this jacket, and frequently use it for early/late winter and spring skiing with limited base layers. I've found that it's not only great for activewear, it's totally sufficient as an everyday jacket- and warm enough for quick walks outside even in single digit temperatures. The biggest selling point for me is that it easily looks better than any mixed shell jacket I've owned before and fits my body type perfectly (yet I think it has enough give to comfortably fit average built people too, even with somewhat broad shoulders). I find the medium perfect, and I'm 6'1. Plus, the logo is stitched on with this model- last year's had an iron-on- and it looks great! Definitely worth the investment!

I bought this for low to medium output activity in mixed rain/snow conditions. Adds warmth but quite breathable. Lots of pockets, find the chest pockets convenient and fit my iphone max well. Trim fit and looks fantastic. I'm 6'0" and was 190 upon purchasing a large, great fit at the time but lost 10 lbs and now more of a relaxed fit and wish I had a medium.

I've had this jacket about three weeks can safely say it's my new goto ice climbing jacket. Heavier duty, and warmer than my Gamma LT, making it better for ice climbing and colder temps in general. Harness & helmet compatable with comfy liner and just enough pockets.

I recently bought the Gamma MX and now have done two hikes. The first hike this coat actually turned out to be a bit overkill. I went for a hike this morning and the coat was perfect. I added a fleece layer under part way and kept at just the right temp. I also have been wearing the coat around town and have loved it for this as well. This has become my go to coat for everything.

I usually wait at least a year before writing a review, so note that I just bought this jacket a couple days ago.
I have spent the days since buying it outside pruning trees, slightly cold out (32-45), sun, clouds, rain.
This jacket is amazing. The fit is phenomenal. Its ability to handle the weather changes comfortably is astounding.
Durable. The outer material is the best feeling stuff I own, rugged but light.
Helmet compatible, which I don't like. The hood is oversized. I am an arborist, so it is likely that I wear a climbing helmet more than you, and I wish that this jacket was not helmet compatible. Small burden to bear for the best jacket ever made. Arcteryx, there has to be more people spending more time in this jacket NOT wearing a helmet, so....I wish that it was an option rather than your go to design. And no I don't want to give up a hood.

I bought a Gamma MX hoody maybe 8 years ago. It's gone all over the world with me. It's not for ski days, but it's perfect once it hits about 42 degrees. Windy, rainy, blustery days, hiking, even cycling, this has gone everywhere with me. I think it still has a couple more years of life in it. If you're going to get a spring/fall/packable/versatile jacket, you can't make a better choice

Bought the revised version as soon as it was released this year. Love the updated feel and materials of the 2020 version. It is noticeable warmer and the new fit allows for better layering of sweaters or base layers underneath it. The face fabric feels higher quality.

Very impressed with the fit and the adjustments for fitting for the hood. This is quality product as per previous Arcteryx coats we have bought.

Just purchased my second Gamma MX as the first one lasted 15 years and though it is well loved it still holds up well. This is one of my favourite do anything jackets.

I have had my Gamma MX Hoody for what must be 10 years. I have worn this on the east coast skiing, hiking on the west coast, and anywhere in between. This jacket has held up and I am thinking of replacing the old one, and not because IT needs to be replaced, but because I put on a few pounds through COVID.

I've been wearing the Gamma line of pants for almost a year now, from the summer weight LT to the medium weight AR to the winter weight MX. Each performs well and fits me perfectly. They are cut to move and are durable and warm when warranted. I decided to add a Gamma MX Hoody to the mix, since the winter-weight MX pants worked so well for me. I haven't had a chance to test the jacket yet, as it's still warm here, but I'm excited to have it ready to go. I purchased an Atom LT Hoody at the same time, thinking I could layer the two when it gets super cold outside and I wasn't super active, and they do layer well. Not a ton of extra room when I have both on, but comfortable enough to move. I love having the options and also think the Gamma MX will work well on its own.
