Cool weather to frigid the Proton is legit. It takes up little bulk when layered and is incredibly warm in the windiest for cold blasts.

I've had this for a couple of years and I love it. It's my go-to midlayer for skiing on colder days (above a baselayer and below a shell), and it keeps me warm but not hot. Wearing it over a tshirt in 40-55 degree weather also keeps my comfortable. I also use it for touring in place of a down puffy if I know it's not going to be extremely cold, and it handles light rain or snow better than my down jackets. I chose to get the Proton LT instead of the Atom LT. Maybe in the future I'd also want an Atom but the Proton has been great. Hood is awesome and adjustable, definitely glad I got the hoodie instead of the jacket. 6', 165 lbs, size S is great for a closer fit and it's roomy enough for a baselayer underneath. If I also had a fleece underneath it would start to get tight.

Took on a week long trip. Was comfortable from 25f to 70f (with high winds). Stayed warm when standing still and didn't overheat while hiking with a heavy pack. 6'3" 210 large was comfortable and fit nicely under a heavy coat if needed

I had proton AR and FL before, and just bought this one for camping. Great jacket and fits well.

The Proton LT Hoody really presented its potential and versatility through my several passes through the Khumbu Icefalls this past season on Everest. The variations in both terrain and temperature during an alpine start up or a fast descent racing the rising sun made the hoody an excellent layering component as well as incredible as a stand alone piece. Its fit was excellent to layer under an additional puffy during breaks or colder starts, but it was warm enough to also go with just a base layer beneath it. Great sized hood that easily fits over my helmet (an issue a lot of hoody's can overlook). Without a wash too over two months the fabric held up and didn't look like it had been through it which is a testament to its durability and construction. Will always be in my kit for future climbs and now home for casual coffee runs as well.

I bought this jacket a few months ago for my dad and he absolutely loves it. It works for various occasions (jogging, city walk, etc) and weather conditions (windy, rainy..). Definitely, a nice jacket to wear for spring, fall, and warm winter. I'll buy this again for my brother :)

I own many pieces of Arc'teryx gear and this is my favourite coat. Fit and pocket placement are great. Only wish is that the material was more abrasion resistant, I would like to see a Proton AR model!

Great midlayer. Despite being non wind resistant it retains warmth with a next to skin merino baselayer alone, no perspiration on long haunts. The stretch is minimal but acceptable for outerwear. The fit is exceptional, ample room in the shoulder, upper arm and chest area and tailors towards the waist. Material is soft and comfortable both outer and lining. I believe this is essential outdoor wear for 3 season use. I am 37" chest 30" waist and 150lbs in size small it's perfect. I tried the xs but the length and width at the waist was too small and rode up on active use

Super comfortable, breathable, lightweight etc. Basically everything it's advertised as. The proton deserves title as most popular over the atom.

This is one of my favorite Arc'teryx jackets for cold conditions (20-25F) in moderate activity. This insulated hoodie has what could be considered a "climber's cut": longer arms, gusseted armpits, broad shoulders, somewhat trim body. I purchased a large and realized it was a tad too big, especially the shoulders and hem. But after using it as an outer layer for ice climbing I do feel like it was the right size for my needs as I can add more layers underneath and still be comfortable. I would size down if using as a mid layer. The chest pocket is large and very handy. I find myself using it more than the side pockets.

The fit of this jacket is perfection, plus it seems like they often make it in more fun colors than the other hoodie styles. I especially love the jackets with two colors mixed together, so sick!

Awesome jacket that's warm enough for cold weather hiking, walking the dog, or dining outside without being bulky. I would recommend sizing up as it is a trim fit. I'm normally a L but had to exchange for an XL to nail it.

This is my everyday jacket. I live in Colorado, and during the cold months this jacket is the perfect lightweight insulation for the elements. It's comfortable, versatile, and attractive. I would recommend to anyone in a dry environment like mine.

I bought this jacket around 6 months ago and it's been awesome. It's super breathable so it works great as a liner but I've also been using it as a light jacket for weather around -5C to 15C

For me this jacket replaced a 10 year old Atom LT & it has been an improvement for me because it is so nice to be able to leave it on through a range of conditions. During aerobic activities it moves moisture very well (so much that it becomes visible on the exterior fabric). I have used it for half a year in a dry cold winter, as well as a damp fall & spring as a shell between 0 to -15degC with increasing lower layers & as a mid to low layer with a softshell & various other layers above & below. The medium fit is spot on for me (178cm78kg100cm chest). It feels very comfortable & the quality is noticeable. I enjoy the trim cut that is flexible. The zipper works well & stays up. I appreciate the stability in the neck/chin guard. It has shown little signs of wear. Competitive & worthwhile investment for me.

The Protom LT is a very slim fitting jacket but still allows for a good amount of movement.. However, I would recommend going a size up for comfort. It has been very warm yet lightweight which allows it to be easily packable. It does a good job blocking out the wind while still being very breathable. I have worn it with only a t-shirt layer when the temperature was below 30 and did not feel cold. If you can only own one jacket, this is it.

This is my do all jacket... Plenty rugged enough to have on as my outer layer while maintaining some body heat, and venting what's left... Throw my shell over it when the wind or rain picks up and I'm still capable of moving freely. Love this jacket! Got the pheniox in medium and the trim for is perfect...

I've had this jacket for almost 2 years now, with about 500 days of use. Highly breathable lightweight wind-stopper when I'm ski touring and then keeps me warm under a shell when resort skiing (the hood fits perfect over my ski helmet on windy days). I also use this for every day activities, hiking and light climbing. I've washed it many times and it still performs and looks like new. A great investment for active people!
