Wore this up the Scottish Highlands a few times. Great jacket. Light and practical. Warm and good water repellent shell. Jacket allows good movement and Chest pocket very good size. Great versatility and very practical

Unbelievable warmth and breathability. The fabric doesn't seem like it would stand up to abuse but other reviews have said it holds up well. I haven't checked it yet. The gray is darker in person than the picture but I'm actually happy about that.

Having a medium weight insulating layer that's got good wind proofing, has some water resistance, and fits well with an adjustable hood & pockets in all the right places is mission critical, and the Proton LT Hoody nails it for me. On top of that it looks good and I get compliments on it. Five stars.

First of all if you're using this in the Bay Area for high output activities this ain't it, if it's to kickback then yes it's cozy. It's very warm and you'd probably over heat in a high output activity with this on. This is my kick back and relax jacket for cold days. It's thin, light & extremely warm, especially for its weight and handles 40/50 F weather like nothing. Not for the rain, if you're dealing with rain throw a hardshell over this and you'll be good. If you're going be doing high output activities at 20 degrees or colder this will keep you warm, reviews say this let's wind in like crazy but I've read it's good up to 20 MPH winds, just so you know. Slim fit so make sure to read up on the measurements if you're on the bigger side like me, hehe it's only motivating me to lose weight so it's a better fit. I'm 5ft 7inches and weigh 195 and got a large. Ya I should size up but I don't like long sleeves and I should be losing weight instead.

Fits well and is a little warmer than the atom lt. highly recommend if you are looking for more warmth than the lt but aren't ready to upgrade to the atom sv.

Used it backpacking in Guadalupe mts in the cold weather (low 15 f) and it's an excellent mid-layer and it's comfortable.

The Atom LT does not even stand a chance next to this bad boy. So much warmer. So much more breathable. More durable too. Perfect for backcountry skiing in cold weather as a standalone or under a shell. Arc'teryx better never stop making this product... or else...

I'm 6'3" and 205 pounds. The size xl fits perfectly. So comfortable that I splurged and purchased another one in a different color.

I purchased this jacket when it first came out, as well as the AR and FL variants, and it is still one of my most-used mid-layers during the normal ski season. Here's my system:
- Lightweight base layer (wool, never ever ever synthetic)
- Proton LT on-piste, Proton FL off-piste, Proton AR on exceptionally cold days
- Rush jacket and/or Gamma LT
99/100 times, the Proton LT is proper piece for resort skiing and, since I ski pretty hard, I tend to unzip it before I start a descent; I suspect you will not need to do this if you're not charging the mountain. Regardless, the jacket breathes well enough that it doesn't become soaked in sweat and does a great job of keeping me warm at the base and on the lift ride up.

I've had the proton LT for over two year now and it's by far my favorite jacket to take on rock climbing trips. For anywhere above freezing temperature it covered the bases for warmth, weight, and breathability on its own. The durability's surprisingly good too. I wouldn't recommend beach whaling with this, but regular smears on the rock with my arms turned out fine.
After two years, it has gotten a little looser but otherwise performs just as well as it used to. I think it'll still go for quite a while. Overall, awesome jacket that'll probably last you a long time as long as you wash it regularly with the tech wear detergents.

I use this jacket all the time, for running for biking, for walking, hiking. you name it. It is pretty comfortable, and I really like the cuffs and the chest pocket. Keep in mind that this jacket is meant to have great airflow so it may not be as warm as the atom LT. So if you are thinking of getting a great piece that will allow you to be active without overheating and yet keep you protected you need to have one.

I love this piece for hiking and skiing. It offers great warmth and breathability and packs down well. Slightly trimmer fit than an Atom LT.

This coat was billed as being more breathable than the Atom LT, and it is, in the right way. The Atom LT is lighter and more snuggly. I find myself still wearing my Atom LT long after I have returned home. However, the fleece side panels on the Atom allow chilly winds to slip in even under a hardshell on some occasions. This is fine when you are in moderate weather, but when you are pushing the warmth capabilities of the Atom LT it can be an issue. The Proton on the other hand does not have this issue. The chilly winds are kept at bay but, remarkably, it is just as breathable during heavy exertion as the Atom LT. The longer hem also helps keep put the wind. The Proton is my preferred mid layer for skiing. The weather resistance of the Proton LT stretch its capabilities further than the Atom LT while maintaining the ability to be worn during high output activities. But... the Atom LT disappears when you wear it and is so comfortable. You probably need to buy both.

There is so much good to say about this jacket, specifically its versatility. It is light, warm and comfortable. A standard fit, it has room for layering without being baggy. Even with a layer underneath it, it fits well under rain jackets -- better than the Atom LT does which has just a bit more insulation.
Sadly, I see the revised version has eliminated a feature I really liked, and curiously unique to the Arcteryx line: a lot of pockets. My version has two chest zipper pockets in addition to hand pockets and why Arcteryx decided to eliminate one is puzzling and frankly disappointing. Its not as if pockets get in the way, and having a number of them increases the utility of the jacket. Why, I wonder, does arcteryx have a thing against pockets? This is still a great jacket, but see if you can find old stock with the double chest pockets.

I've now had this jacket for over a year now. And I love it now as much then! Not to warm for mild conditions. But warm enough for for colder days! Wear it to work in and I also wear out to dinner. The face fabric is much tougher than the atom lt. One thing I would like to see is the stitched logo added to the next revision! Overall great piece. Very glad I purchased. Will buy another.

I've had my Proton LT since late summer and it's been my goto jacket for so many things;
quick errands to the store
wear it to and from the gym
walking about the neighbourhood
...and while those are all great uses for the jacket, the real bang for my buck is cold weather running.
For two weeks now I've been running in sub -20C weather. This morning's 9km run was -21... -27C including windchill and the jacket continues to perform incredibly well - better than I imagined it would.
I'm new to Arc'teryx and was a little skeptical about wearing a jacket like this during cold runs. I have no problem generating heat and I thought I would actually overheat but I didn't. It flexes and breathes incredibly well.
For context, I layered my upper body with;
long-sleeve lululemon running shirt
Motus AR Zip Neck
Proton LT hoody
Arc'teryx LEAF balaclava
RHO LTW Beanie
Venta Mittens
I was both comfortable and warm. The moisture transfer worked perfectly, and while the jacket was a bit damp by the end of my run, it was dry within the hour.
Note: Under the Proton LT is my Salomon Active 8 running vest - I ran 9k with 500ml of hydration in the bladder. I would zip down the jacket long enough to grab a drink. No freezing issues.
I can't say enough about the Proton LT. Very comfortable and perfectly for sub -15C weather. Such a great jacket.
Stats:
Height: 5' 11
Weight: 233 lbs
Chest: 47.5" - I wear an XL Proton
Waist: 35" - I wear L bottoms in everything Arc'teryx

I bought this a year and a half ago and am absolutely in love with it. It is my go to jacket with an weather 55 degrees and below. I've used this in basically every environment, on long backpacking trips and climbing and has withstood it all, 100% worth it.
