These are nice shoes. I used to love the Salomon 3D, had 3 pairs that fit my wide toes and narrow heels perfectly. But they've changed the last, now they pinch my toes. I tried a larger size, they were too big everywhere except the toes --- still pinched a bit there. With regret, I am returning them.

I'm definitely not a wide, but I'm on the wide-side of medium. Too, I expect modern shoes to allow for toe splay for cryin' out loud! While the XA Pro 3D definitely are not as narrow as the Speedcross, they are somewhat narrow-ish in the toe box. I wanted to keep them because, while heavier than a true runner, they're pretty well cushioned and warm (good for fall, winter, spring in Northern Michigan). But they had to go - toes are just too tight in forced movements.

I really like this look of the shoes, easy to securely my shoes with quick lace system, and waterproof. My biggest disappointment about this shoes is that they are not very comfortable especially on my heel. I work at the customer service job where I stand on my feet 8 hour a day, at the end of the day my heel is somewhat in pain due to pressure on my heel. I ended up buying Dr Sholl's insoles to replace original insoles that came with the shoes which it helped a lot after I switched out with Dr Sholl's insoles. In short, these shoes seen to lack of any rearfoot cushioning which seen replacing with aftermarket insoles is a must if you want any comfort on your feet.

I buy these shoes for the Gore-Tex and all the comments about the toe box changes are accurate- it’s much more compact. This is my 4th pair of XA Pro GTX (because the bottoms wear out 3x faster than any other shoe made) and will probably be my last. Only tried them one more time because of catching them at 33% off.
