I have been a 928 user for several years. New Balance has done a disservice for those of us with foot problems. The 928 v2 is NOT the same as the original 928. I bought the new v2 from a New Balance shoe store. After 5 weeks I was in pain. I have orthotics from my podiatrist and the v2 did not give the support needed for the orthotics to work for support. I purchased two of the original 928's from Zappos - thankfully. Don't know what I will do when they are worn out. Have some time but what's next? New Balance should NEVER have changed the construction of the original 928. I have spoken to NB customer service and they tell me it is the same - not so!. People who have problems with their feet know better. We rely on the company to keep up the same product especially when many people rave about it. My feet were hurting, my knees were hurting and my hip was hurting with the new v2. Buyers be aware!!

As the owner of Kathy's Deli, I am on my feet a lot especially when we are catering weddings and other big events. I have worn New Balance 928's for years and before that I wore the 812's. The original 928's are the best thing for my feet that I have ever found. When I ordered my normal size in the 928v2, I never dreamed that they wouldn't fit! Much to my dismay, I couldn't even get the shoe on my foot. I then ordered my size in 2E instead of 2D and was able to get the shoe on, but I'm not happy with the lack of comfort. The changes are evident when you look at the two shoes side by side. Why were the changes made? It certainly didn't improve anything. Please bring back the original 928's! I usually wear a white pair everyday for working in the deli and a black pair for catering.

I thought some of the negative reviews were too harsh until I bought a pair of these shoes. I have been wearing 928s for s couple years and was very happy with their extreme comfort and durability. I have flat feet as well as arthritis in my feet and ankles and the 928s were an answer to a prayer. The new 928v2s are not comfortable and seem to lack cushioning. The material of the insoles makes my feet burn whereas the old 928s never caused any burning sensation. The new model is definitely not worth their hefty price tag unless New Balance goes back to the original 928s. I assume the new model was cheaper to make because there is less leather and stitching on the shoes.

I have not had a chance to where them for a long period of time, but they fit nicely. However, the design change is so disappointing. The previous design enabled me to wear them without orthotics. I had recommended them to several people and all were very happy. Hoping these support and hold up as well.

I have a previous version of the 928 --- great shoe, very comfortable. I have a wide foot and high instep. Sadly, the 928v2 felt narrow. I ordered the shoe in the same width as my old 928. They changed the style of the shoe placing a banding across the side and over the top of the foot. When you look at the top of the shoe you can see the narrowing which happens to fall right around the big joint of the little toe. I am returning this pair as the extensive walking I need to do will cause swelling and the shoe too tight. This style also felt a little rigid in the sole.

I love the shoes, but the right shoe is definitely defective. Inside stitching at the first lacing hole is lumpy and will never be comfortable. Left shoe is perfect.

Purchased 928 ver 2 from zappos and tried on at new balance store. NO WAY ARE THESE ANYWHERE THE SAME SUPPORT WALKER as previous 928 of which I have had 926, 927 & 928 over the years. These are made cheaper with a tight vamp that does not correlate with the wide toe box- an obvious design flaw. Poor insole. Shorter heel box so orthotics don't fit in as well. Overall trying to skimp on construction. Shame on you New Balance for stooping below your company mantra.

Since the NB928 has been replaced by the NB928V2, I am unable to wear this shoe. It is made different and hurts the top of my foot. I actually had a bruise on my foot because I kept thinking that I just needed to break it it. I finally realized that it was not for me. I had worn the NB928 for years because they worked for my inserts and foot problems. I am searching for a shoe that will work for me now.

I have severe pronation, flat feet, and am dealing with posterior tibial tendonitis with my left foot. The podiatrist prescribed custom full-length orthotics and recommended New Balance 928 as a "temporary shoe" while I work on treating my painful tendonitis. I have only been wearing these shoes for a few days with my orthotics but I felt relief the first day I wore them. The orthotics fit in them perfectly (removed the insole), although I had given my podiatrist the insole before he made the orthotics so that he could make sure the orthotics would fit in this shoe. I am in my early 30's and prior to being diagnosed with tendonitis, I typically wore "cute" dress shoes to work, but those days are now over! These shoes are pretty heavy, and not particularly attractive or stylish but they're a lot better looking than other options for stability shoes with motion control. I got these in plain black to wear to work, and they don't stand out too much as long as I wear black pants. The darker color also helps diminish how clunky they look. Overall, they seem to be helping with my feet issues. The tongue does seem sort of short and can be uncomfortable sometimes. If you are familiar with the original 928, this newer version (928v2) is narrower in width than the original. I recommend you order the same shoe size in this version, but do go up one width size; I fit a 6.5 B (Standard) in the original 928 and a 6.5 D (Wide) in this version (928v2). I do have slightly wide feet. I cannot comment more on the differences between the original and this newer version since I only tried on the original version and did not purchase them since the store did not have the color I wanted.

This shoe is narrow through the middle. Arch is uncomfortable, and the shoe has a high area opposite the arch. Very uncomfortable.

The 928v2 walking shoe is comfortable, but not as supporting as the 927. Wish New Balance did not change. "if it aint broke, don't try to fix it"

This shoe makes a huge difference in my ability to walk and my pain level with my osteoarthritic knee. I had reached a point where a short walk was terribly painful. Many other orthopedic shoes that I had tried did not help. I did go up 1/2 size from my measured size. This, combined with a wide width instead of a medium, gives me lots of wiggle room in the toe box, great arch support, and comfortable, non-restrictive fit. The shoe is breathable and has room for my thicker diabetic socks. The thick, substantial sole really absorbs shock well and makes me feel more secure on uneven pavement. I can walk much further now and have much less pain. Great shoe. Please keep it available always!

I like v2 much better then v1. They made the soul smooth, so you don't rock back and forth like you did in v1. The boot box is wide and deep. I wear my orthotics in them and they fit. I am very happy that they improved the 928 because I really didn't like the 928 v1, when they first changed from the 927.

I love these shoes. They offer great airflow. They fit true to size and are nice and wide. I still have to wear my arch support, but would have to in any shoe.

I am someone who did NOT like the old 928's. They were uncomfortable in several ways. These new 928 V2's, on the other hand are fabulous. I wear custom orthotics but it even appears that the footbed has been uppgraded to be cushier. These are less clunky that the former version too. I have them in white & black and wear them everyday -- I am still recovering from major foot surgery on both feet and these are the only shoes I can wear right now. I wore a 10 1/2 4E in the former version. Now I'm wearing an 11 2E. They are probably a little long but I love them anyway. The toe box is nice & wide, the heel drop is just the way I like it, and the hint of a forefoot rocker sole really works for me. Thanks, New Balance -- you saved my life!

I bought the shoes as a gift and the recipient initially gave me the wrong size. Not to worry. I contacted Zappos and was given instructions on how to return the shoes. I did and the correct pair arrived within 2 days. Everyone is happy!

Very happy with this shoe and support. With plantar fasciitis and two surgeries on one foot, this shoe is really helping me. I am now Abe to walk and stand a bit longer than prior to when I had these shoes.

I am a woman with large feet, shoe size 12. Most sites only offer this size in a wide width, my feet are narrow. New Balance offers my size and I have only purchased New Balance tennis shoes for many years. They're made of leather here in the USA and the fit is great.

These are absolutely perfect for my feet. I have wide feet and bunions and these shoes are excellent. There is plenty of room in the toe box and great support. I ordered three other similar shoes and knew the New Balance were keepers the minute I put them on. My orthotic inserts fit perfectly.

This shoe fits great and is very comfortable. I had ordered the 813 prior to this and it was too short and stiff and uncomfortable. I wear custom orthotics and was able to easily slip them in and wear the shoes right away. Kudos to Zappos for great customer service with the return and re-order.

I have collapsed arches and severe pronation. This shoe will not cure my problems, but is the best shoe I have found to deal with them, using my own orthotics.
