I purchased the 813, and had to return them because of being defective in the inside seam, plus they were larger then expected. So I came back to the 982 which this is my 3rd pair of this particular model. Holy cow, they have changed them. My other two pair fit like a glove. I wear a wide because of an arch support, and no way can I get the arch support in them, plus they are very stiff which my other 982s always have had great support but not stiff. Since I returned the 813 I am going to keep these because I am not big on buying and returning, but I can guarantee that I will no longer get these. Next time I will go to my local sport store, try them on then order them from Zappos. I love Zappos' customer service!

I ordered size 9 2E, but am returning them. It was too tight across the top, by the lowest eyelet (shoelace hole).

Read reviews and ordered a 1/2 size bigger then normal. Heal way too lose fitting, width was great. went back to regular size, too narrow and too short. These shoes are not true to any size.....Arch support in the wrong place...

The redesign has turned a sturdy shoe with excellent support into a soft. squishy shoe that has no stability. I used to order two pairs of these shoes every ten or twelve months for many years, and now and looking for a replacement. Very disappointing.

Looking at Addiction Walker, but its pointed toebox forces a longer size, so not sur.

As a long time New Balance fan I'm sad to say I'm really disappointed in these shoes. They are not an improvement over the original 928, and do an overall poor job in their place. They seem to have less cushion, and what is there broke down quickly.

I have worn the 928's for several years and had no problem with fit. I just received the 928v2 and they do not fit very disappointed.

New Balance changed the 928, which, in my opinion and that of many others, was a wonderful and supportive shoe for those of us who have foot and leg problems. In fact, last year I was seeing a physical therapist for months regarding terrible knee pain I was having. I bought a pair of 928s because my feet hurt after walking a while (I live in NYC and have to walk to and from the subway every day, etc.) and the knee pain was instantly gone. I could not believe it and neither could my physical therapist. Despite their very un-hip look, I wore the shoes almost exclusively for a year and they were wonderful. I wanted to replace them because they were worn down a year later, but New Balance has changed the model to 928v2. I read many reviews that said they were less comfortable, less supportive and just a real let down compared to the old model. But I was desperate and decided to try them. Sadly, I have to agree with the other reviewers. These shoes are not as good as the original 928s. I'm so bummed, because I wore mine around the house for a while, trying to get used to them. And finally I realized that unless I went for a big walk, I wouldn't really know if they would be good or not. So, I have walked in them outside and I really don't like them. I can't explain it, except to say they are not as comfortable or padded, or supportive. Apparently, people have called New Balance to complain, but they just say, no, it's the same shoe. It's really not. So, if you LOVED the 928s, you might really regret buying these. Of course, everyone is different, so if you're desperate, it's worth a go. I'm hoping to find a better shoe for me, but I'm quite sad I wasted $135 on shoes that I really dislike, just because some idiot decided to change it up. For those of us who depend upon these sturdy-type shoes, we have very few options for something that helps us to walk better and without pain. Now, there is one less.

I have worn 928's for years and I wear them out before buying new ones. My foot doctor always said that NB was a great shoe. I felt that way till I recently bought the grey NB 928v2. Crappy shoe. Does not break in like the original 928. It feels narrower across the top of my feet and looser in the heel. My heel slides when I walk and makes a noise. No amount of powder keeps it quiet. The heel of the shoe is not forming to the heel of my foot like it use too. The size I ordered is fine but the shoe itself is horrible. I will never buy NB walkers again. I am shoe shopping for a different brand and by the way will cost me more. I see the difference from the original to the v2. Ironically, last fall I bought the leather/canvas walker and did not have the problems I am having with version v2. I don't care what NB says, it is different or why would it have to be labeled V2? Brooks is better than V2. Next try is Drews.

I bought these a few months ago and didn't try them on as I assumed they would be comfortable. Unfortunately, they are not. They run a little short in length and very hard underfoot. I am returning them... They aren't as comfortable as this style was in the past. I'm very disappointed and will order a different New Balance style. I always wear New Balance.

I was very happy with the 928 so finally tried the v2 even tho the reviews had made me wonder. They were right, the version 2 is way different, too bad they had to change it, the 928 was great stability and fit and worked with my orthotics needed for degraded joints.

I have been a New Balance lady since foot surgery in 2001. I have never had problems but now all these V2's are not fitting correctly and are very uncomfortable. Am on my third pair trying to get one I can walk in. Used to be I could buy the same type each time with no problem. I hope New Balance is paying attention.

I have been wearing 928s for years and this new v2 is very different. It feels much more narrow and the foot bed feels different, maybe placement of the arch is different or something like that. But they are very different than the previous version and so are uncomfortable for me.

Bring back the original 928! No new versions needed. I see others complaints are well-founded, but seeing is believing. My orthotics were cut to fit the 928.
Runs almost a full size smaller than the original. The toe box is narrower and pointier. Sleek is nice, but my big toe still needs its space.

I have worn this shoe for years and was very happy with it, but the design change is pronounced. The toe box is much smaller and the shoe no longer fits me. I won't be wearing New Balance any more. So disappointing and frustrating. I recommend Brooks Ariel as an alternative.

I had been wearing the 928 and the last time I purchase the sneakers I was shipped the 928v2. I noticed they seemed a little smaller than the past shoes and also noticed that the orthotics did not seem to fit as well and actually caused the shoe to squeak when I walked. Since I have been wearing them my knees started to hurt and my ankle would feel sore and swell up. The support in these shoes is not the same as the 928. I was on line looking to purchase another pair when I read the reviews and realized it may me the 928v2. I went back to the old pair and my knees feel better and the ankle does not swell. I agree with other users of the 928v2 that these shoes were poorly constructed. After reading other reviews I realized that the problems I am having could be caused by the shoes not providing the required support. I will not purchase another pair of these sneakers. I think New Balance has betrayed our trust in them to provide a good product time after time. I am in search of a new shoe.

If you have loved the 928, do not buy the 928v2. Horrible, uncomfortable. The sure is nothing like the 928.

Being a school cook, worn 928 for years. Need orthotics, very flat footed. Even with my orthotics in the 928v2, very little support. Best word to describe the 928v2-yuck! Not the same as the original 928. Very disappointed. Bring back the 928. Lucky I found velcro-928 to get me thru this year. Do not know what I am going to do when they wear out.

I agree with others who say that this re-designed shoe does not at all fit like the previous version. It was uncomfortable on my foot from the moment that I tried it on. It felt tight across the ball of my foot, where I have bunions, and this was the 4E extra extra wide, so I had no wider shoe to try. I wish that New Balance would stop redesigning shoes that people buy based on their comfort! I was fortunate that the first redesign a couple of years ago still worked for me. This time, however, it does not.

I've also depended on my 928's for support and as pain-free walking as I could find. I wear them for dress shoes, as well, that's how important they are to me. Every other shoe causes pain. But the new 928v's are a disaster (tried them on in a local store). Sloppy ( a SUPER deep, wide toe box with a weirdly pointed toe). Simply won't work. I wrote New Balance and got a generic, "Thank you, we pay attention to all comments". What are the chances they'll make the old 928 again? I'm not hopeful. I'm actually quite concerned about what I"ll wear when my pairs wear out

The 928v2 is a big disappointment. It is not the same as the original 928. The sneaker is tighter and my orthotics do not fit this new model. So disappointed in New Balance.

I tried two pairs of these and in both the right show was defective. There was a piece of hard material at the bottom of the tongue near the first lace (at the bottom, not the top). It rubbed the top of my foot so hard that my foot bruised and I was in pain for a week. I went to a local New balance store where lo and behold the shoe was just fine. The salesman said Zappos and Amazon will buy defective shoes. Not 100% of the time but they do. I will buy them locally from now on. I actually didn't know I could. Kudos to Zappos for the easy exchange and return.

I generally do not write reviews but must help others. I did not pay attention to other reviewers and deeply regret buying this shoe. I have been a loyal buyer of a version of this shoe, known as New Balance 926, 927, 928 since 2007. I have probably bought 8-10 pair for very sensitive feet. I insert my orthotics and walk away happy. Previously, these were the shoes that I couldn't wait to put on after my "church shoes" or uncomfortable dressy shoes. Not this time. Not the same shoe. V.2 is very uncomfortable, rigid, and runs small. Whatever they did to change things up doesn't work. Actually this shoe is painful and I have made a very expensive mistake. Same orthotic, same socks, shoe makes me miserable. I walked outside before I fully realized my mistake. A person can't always tell much inside on carpets. Why don't they leave a good thing alone. Change isn't always better!
