I agree, with previous comments, they never should have changed, at first I thought my foot had changed. Right now I am having problems finding shoes wide enough at the toes.

Just read the review from another customer. She is right - I just thought it was me. The top lace area of the right shoe seems defective. It is lumpy and cut into my ankle.

Definitely more narrow than the original 928. I bought my regular size in a wide width, and so far it is ok. The arch support isn't quite as good.

Plenty of room and support. My orthotic fits well, however difficult to remove because of the deep footbed and stiff leather. Shoe seems to break down after about six months, but I think that is relatively normal for a shoe I wear daily.

When I first wore the shoes, (I bought the Wide this time) the out- side part of my feet hurt, and it rubbed the inside of my ankle. I thought I was going to have to return the shoes. Then, I put in the orthotics that my podiatrist had made for me years ago, which were in my older 928's, and the problem went away. I have flat feet, and now with the orthotics in, all is well. I am so delighted as I have not been able to wear tennis shoes for some time, due to them being uncomfortable.

Didn't fit like the previous version, especially the left foot. It has been my go-to shoe for a long time but I may go to the 640 now for price and comfort.

I was a little hesitant to order these walking shoes based on the reviews, however I have always been satisfied with NB given my size 11N feet! Glad I ordered. There seems to be a forward backward rocking motion when walking which is intentional I suspect and made my legs feel energized. The only complaint I have is the middle of the road arch support but then again, I have high arches. These hug my feet and bring a smile to my face!

This shoe is not like the original shoe that I have been wearing. A little stiff for my feed.

I have to wear motion control shoes all the time and found the original 928 clunky and awful to wear with a dress. Although, these are not what I prefer to wear with a dress or skirt they are more feminine looking than the original. The heel is not as high, the collar is not so wide, and they don't make my foot look wider than they are. The lower heel prevents unwanted pressure on the ball of my foot.

While I am not overjoyed with the material, I am happy with the fit and comfort that these shoes provide. I tried various all black shoes from inexpensive to over the budget and these are by far the best for the money. Another important factor is the support and cushioned top-of-heel. They are not the most fashionable shoes on the block but they are worth the comfort and support!

What a shame! The leather was soft and comfortable and the toe width was excellent, but the area that is raised around the ankles seems to be cut too high and cut into my ankles. Could be just my individual problem. If I insert an insole to raise my foot, it will not give me enough toe room. I am so sad to return them.

I have worn 928's for years. I wear an orthotic. They are a half size smaller than originals, pricey and not as comfortable. Don't think I will buy them again.

I have worn 928s for YEARS. This V2 (version 2) is really narrow. I went to a New Balance store and was able to purchase a V3 and the salesperson confirmed w/me that the V2 ran narrow, and the V3 was more like the original 928. The 928V3 are great; not so much the 928V2. Avoid V2.

Add my voice to the chorus saying "Hey New Balance, the old design was better. It was more comfortable." If I had not worn the old design then I would think these shoes were ok, not with excellent support but good enough. I give these shoes the grade of B* on their own and C+ when compared to the old style. They are staples in my wardrobe and I'll buy a new pair when this pair wears out.

New design of these shoes is terrible. Where is the cushion? The angle of the toe box rides on the side of my big toes. If I go up another half size they are too big. The leather is stiff! This purchase was one huge and expensive mistake!

New Balace changed its style for the 928. It is considerably smaller in size. Do not do what I did and wear the shoe assuming it was the same fit. Couldn't return it after wearing it for a few hours and finding it hurting. So I reordered a 1/2 size larger only to find them still too short. Disappointing and expensive.

I have purchased many NB 928s. It has been "my shoe" for many years. This one looks different and feels different. It does not fit my foot well: the foot bed feels wrong, the heel is lower on my ankle, not snug, it has less cushion, and it's got less paneling, making it less comfortable. It is not worth the price for me any more. I will be returning it.

These are quite different from the old 928s. The toe box has gone from round to pointed. Looks better, but for those of us wearing size 4E it is clearly not as roomy and comfortable.

This is an update to my last review on this shoe. I ordered it in medium width, as the narrow was too narrow across the toe box, even though I have worn the 928 for years in a 10.5 2A. I walked right out of the medium width, so I will return them. So, obviously this shoe is not going to work for me. I wore an old pair of Brooks Addiction Walkers today, for 11 hours, mostly on my feet, and they felt great. Yesterday I wore a newer pair of the old style 928's, and I had foot and back pain all day. New Balance has changed their technology, and they just lost me as a loyal customer. I am going back to Brooks.

I started with the 926 New Balance, then moved on with the 927 and the 928. For a brief period of time, I wore the Brooks Addiction Walker and liked how light they felt and how they fit, but the New Balance provided more stability. I have been wearing white 928's 99% of the time, as I am on my feet about 10 hours a day as a teacher. Then I found out that the regular 928's were no longer available and order the 928v2. I ordered my usual size, 10.5 Narrow, but they are difficult to get tied across the instep. I wore them once to the gym, and they seem OK, but they are cut lower than the regular 928's and don't seem as stable. I just ordered them in a medium width, to see if that is better. At the moment, I have an old pair of Brooks Addiction Walkers on. I may have to go back to the Brooks. Why does New Balance insist on changing styles that are already perfect? I want my old 928's back!

The 928v2 is not an improvement, please bring back the prior version of this shoe. V2 seems to be much more narrow in the same size I ordered before, and the new insoles are less comfortable and pull my socks down into the shoes. This shoe does not fit the same as the prior version at all. I do like the pebble finish of the outside of the shoe.

The ww928v2 (hook and loop) is noticeably tighter than the 928 from 2014, particularly around the ankle and instep. This may be due to "motion control." I'll walk around indoors and see if I can live with it, or maybe return for the maximum width. Note for people who want more colors: The men's version is a size or two bigger than women's in the same size, otherwise nearly identical, and some styles have more colors. If you need more colors, it's worth a try. I once accidentally ordered men's shoes in New Balance, and they were nice and roomy. You may have to do some trial and error to find the size and width that works for you. (If you like everything about a shoe except the ties, a shoe repair shop may be able to convert tied shoes to hook and loop.)
