The new MW982v2 is noticably different from the old 928. Most important for me is that it's a bit narrower and quite uncomfortable for me. So I'm returning the 928v2. Luckily, I was able to find a pair of the old 928 at a local shoe store.

I have been buying previous versions of this shoe for more than 10 years. These are very different. They are MUCH narrower! I needed ones that were twice the normal width that I use. New Balance apparently changed the lasts for these. Why? The soles are very flat. These shoes are suitable for someone who walks flat-footed--lands with their entire foot at the same time and has very little flexion at the ball of their foot afterwards. They are not suitable for someone who walks heal-to-toe. And just to add: Pay attention to manufacturing quality. I had to re-order them twice because I was sent two different pairs that were defective. During my final call, the service rep said that they would check the shoes for defects prior to sending them to me. Zappos finally made everything right. But shouldn't they check before shipping anyway? The final exchange process was taking a very long time, so I called in to find out the status. This service rep was quite rude and short. If anyone should have been upset, shouldn't it have been me? I wasn't...until I spoke with her.

I've wore the original MW928 for quite some time now. The SL-2 last and 6E width was a perfect fit for me. So I figured that the MW928v2 was just an updated version and should fit the same. Boy was I wrong. The v2 isn't even close. It feels much narrower and the arch doesn't seem like it's in the same place. They were very uncomfortable for me.

Bring back the old MW982 for a width 6E it is too narrow. Very disappointed as this use to be a comfortable shoe.

These are far narrower than the previous version. I've always liked New Balance because they fit well and are comfortable, but these are not. I actually had to use a shoehorn to put one on, and my feet stuck out over the sides noticeably. I put a new sneaker sole-to-sole with an old one to see how big the difference was. The MW928v2 is about 1/2 inch narrower than the previous version to the naked eye. I'm not sure what to do now - I really wanted new sneakers but these do NOT work for me.

Absolutely this is 100% different than the old 928's - I have worn a 10.5 6E for the last 30 years, yet these felt like I was wearing 12 D's! They were very tight across the metatarsal and I was literally walking out of them due to the length. I don't know what New Balance did, but they SERIOUSLY screwed up on these!!! Unless you have narrow feet, STAY AWAY FROM THESE!

Excellent shoe overall. Proven to be waterproof in rain and puddles, but breathes well. I have plantar fasciitis, and the arch support has greatly minimized my pain. The only failing was with the insole. The brown fabric covering quickly came away from the soft blue padding at the edges. This revealed a small amount of glue, but did not affect the feel nor outer appearance of the shoe.

I had the same problem as the two previous reviews. I love the 982 but the 982vm runs a size smaller and narrower. Don't know if I will be able to to wear it long term.

This is my second shoe of this model (different color), and I ordered it because it is comfortable, light weight, and mostly because it's excellent support provides significant relief of heel pain from plantar fasciitis.

It is challenging to find a pair of shoes for my husband that is both stylish and comfortable with his very high arch. On a visit to his foot doctor she recommended this shoe so we thought we would try it out. So glad we did!!! My husband had week long "on your feet all day" convention for work and was virtually pain free! No foot or back issues which was a welcome change . Great shoes!

Comfortable shoe to wear when you want the comfort of an athletic shoe and aesthetic for business casual. I wear a 10 1/2 EE in other athletic New Balance shoes. After reading reviews for this shoe, I ordered them in an 11 EE and they fit great.

This is a great product and very comfortable. I have wide feet and this fits well. Support is good and I don't need to use my custom inserts.

This is my third pair of the 928V2. These shoes are comfortable and seem to hold up well. If you have foot problems this is the shoe you need. 928 v2's help with pain from arthritis in my big toe. Zappos is 40.00 less than my local shoe store.

Great shoe. I'm on my third or fourth pair. These shoes offer great support and wear well.

I have wide feet and this is the only show that fits me really well and is comfortable. My only wish is that NB would make it like a regular shoe instead of the "sneaker" look. Luckily the black color camouflages the sneaker look reasonably well for office use.

Others have commented about the width. I have A width in a dress shoe so I bought narrow. They fit me fine. I like the arch support.

Looking for a shoe that I can wear to work with khakis that is as comfortable as a sneaker.

I wore them in the house for two days with my full orthotics (original insoles removed) and seemed reasonably comfortable. Then I made the mistake of wearing them outside. Unfortunately by the time I came home after shopping my right foot was giving me pain I hadn't felt in a long time. When I took the shoe off it seemed the orthotic was not and would not sit flatly on the bed of the shoe. I probably should have ordered a wider shoe. Since I can easily wear C width I thought a D would be enough. now I have a shoe that is not returnable. So be very cautious. Now about ZAPPOS. They could not have been more courteous and their shipping been any faster. If you have done any business on line you must realize that they must rate in the top 97% for courteous, caring, and shipping categories.

Got these for my son. He says they are too tight. Is keeping the New Balance MX623v3 Other than that these look like serviceable shoes. As always, Zappos is great for letting us try on shoes and send back ones that don't work out.

I received the wrong sneakers (probably my fault) but Zappos was very nice about it and replaced them very quickly.

I got what I wanted (with some help from a Zappo's rep). Shoes came next day. Happy with shoes.

Moderate improvement over the 928 with better sole to toe attachment and full leather tongue. Overall super comfortable and supportive. I can easily log 2 hours walk/jog without causing any foot discomfort. As other reviews have noted, sizing does run snug, but I feel this is an intentional aspect of the shoe's construction designed to cradle and better support the foot during exercise.
