I have used this model (and predecessor model numbers) for many years. This is the first time that I am dissatisfied. The tongue ripped rendering the shoe unwearable after several weeks.

I find the NB 990s (mess upper) that i've had so long really great! The store here in Alabama doesn't sell them with a leather upper - as if no one travels to other climates or doesn't go out for a walk at night. That was annoying. So I tried this different shoe, being all leather. I put my orthotics in. They hurt my arches after 1 hr of standing. They just don't have enough cushioning in the heel. Wide enough, though. Even after 1 week of not wearing them, and in my good sneakers again, my arch still bothers me, it got flared up from just one hour in these shoes (I have plantar fascitis and achilles tendonitis-lucky are you who don't...). I know NB makes some great shoes but not this one. Maybe only if you have no foot problems.

I just hate to see a good company with a great product go bad. I've had 4 pairs of 928s 2E width and this new pair won't go on my feet, just not made the same. I will try a 6E now because they are so narrow. Don't know about arch support yet, can't get them on.

If you want to buy this shoe, I suggest that you be careful. There are two different shoes in the Zappos catalog that have the same number, MW928v2. One of them has a full leather upper and the other does not. I wanted the full leather upper shoe but was sent the other one. I wrote a message to Zappos about this but they did not respond.

Do not buy any New Balance the quality has slowly went down hill.Have worn them for years but the past 5 pairs have been garbage. Fell apart in a few wears etc. Also they say they are 6e wrong the last 2 pairs ordered were more like 4e (probably save a couple of cents a unit). Never buying NB again. Would of given a 0 but was no box for it.

I'm very disappointed in this new version of the shoe I've worn for years. I normally wear an 8 4E but read the reviews that said the new version runs narrow and ordered the 6E to be sure. It is too narrow.

I bought these for my husband. He is a New Balance junkie but these are not working at all. There is stitching along the top and it is very uncomfortable for his 2E feet. He is going to try a shoe stretcher since he has been wearing them.
