I was so disappointed in these shoes. The first pair of Merrill sandals I bought lasted me 5 years!! They were dirty but they held up through hikes in Utah and quick trips to the grocery store. Every summer for 5 years. These started tearing and fell apart at the end of the very first summer. The second summer, they became unwearable. I don’t know if Merrill changed factories or what, but what a difference. Both were the same sandal style and same price. It’s just awful that the second pair hardly lasted and the first pair was amazing.

Would not recommend. As other reviewers mentioned, I owned the prior all-leather version of these shoes and they lasted me for ~5 years, one of which was spent in a monsoony, tropical country where the old shoes were my daily footwear. The quality difference in this pair is actually shocking. First bad sign: walking ~2 miles in a city on a rainy day. Velcro in the back kept coming undone. Can't even recommend these for city wear. The terrible stuff started when I brought these on a 9 day hiking and rafting trip. Velcro came undone so often that I had to duct tape the back shut. Threads starting coming lose on day 2. By the end, people were shocked when I told them the shoes were new because they looked so terrible. Can't use for walking in a paved city, definitely can't use for outdoor wear. In other words, these shoes are useless and expensive, so do not buy them. Merrell, you have officailly converted me to Chacos for my outdoor sandal brand.
