It was time to replace an older pair of Merrell hiking shoes, and I settled on these. Maybe it's not a good idea to buy a pair of shoes and take them out for a 6 mile hike without breaking them in, but that's exactly what I did. They're lightweight and were fairly breathable on a hot and muggy day, comfortable (no hot spots or blisters), and had good traction on the trail on a variety of terrain. I purchased a half size larger because my feet tend to swell when I'm walking long distances, and it gives my toes a little more wiggle room. I'm really happy with these and looking forward to logging lots of trail miles with them.

Love these. I read so many reviews on so many hiking shoes before purchasing these. They fit perfectly and I love the way you don't look like you're wearing hiking shoes. I took them out of the box and immediately hiked an intermediate 4+ mile hike in Colorado with a 1000 foot increase in elevation. I did not have to break them in at all and they gave me great support and grip on the rocky trail. I also wore them out for pizza and beer after (this is why I hike) and I didn't feel out of place wearing these. I wish I had purchased these months ago. Great purchase.

i work in an ad agency in LA, so i can basically where what most folks would call "hiking clothes" – and i bought these for work. i usually where keen hiking shoes, so for me, these seem very lightweight. i like them because they're very comfortable, but also, i really like the style of the shoe. it's a bit of "flash", but not too much!

I love the color and style of the Merrill Siren Edge. I get many compliments on them. After reading other reviews I went 1/2 size up and it fits me well. I do have narrow feet so width was no issue for me but might be tight for a wider foot. I am on my feet 8 hours a shift and these give me good support and are comfortable. They can be squeaky sometimes which others have commented. I don't know if it's the insole that causes that but it's minor. If I worked in a library it might be bothersome but I do not. As always Zappos delivery was swift and I was able to use my reward points as additional savings on my Merrill's.

I've bought Merrells before (2 pairs in recent years--Siren 2 Sport, most recently) and wear them daily to work, in addition to hiking...it's Seattle after all! I have loved them. However, when these Merrells arrived in the mail, I opened them up and they looked extremely cheap; they've gone to stickers on the sides, apparently, rather than cloth detailing. (See photo.) Anyway, they fit just fine, though the arch support for me was a little too far forward and I'd have needed to change the insoles. Not insurmountable; I've needed that before for all my Merrells. Unfortunately, the style was a deal-breaker for me, and I sent them back. I bought a pair of Oboz instead. Maybe in 2 years I'll give you another shot, Merrell....

These would be great shoes, except that they’re covered with what resemble iron on details. I’ve always loved Merriell shoes for their quality. The sole and comfort are great, but the decals on the upper seem like they’ll peel off in no time with regular use. I’m returning them for that reason.

I have put many, many miles on these shoes in the last two years and can't say enough about how glad I am to have found them! I will say I hate wearing them indoors or on pavement, but absolutely love them for outdoors!!! The tread grip is perfect for dirt, gravel, and grass. They are supportive and have great arch support, which is a deal breaker for me. I have wide toes and narrow heals, and these shoes have never given me blisters or hurt my feet, and I take long trail walks. Plenty of tow room. My foot stays in place since the arch support is spot on. They are not super cushion-ie, but are very supportive. They protect your feet from roots and sharp gravel. They have held up well for the last two years even with several machine washings. I plan to order another pair as soon as these start to show wear.

Love this shoe for trail walking. The bottom has a good amount of grip, there is EXCELLENT ARCH SUPPORT, and the toe width is very accommodating. They are perfect if you are looking for support on the trail. You may not be happy if flexible, cushy cushy is what you are looking for. When these wear out i will definitely be ordering these again. I have been wearing them often for 2 years and they have held up well. I have even put them in the washing machine. Merrell, please don't stop making the Siren Edge.

The Merrell Siren Edge is a beautiful shoe. They're so attractive and athletic looking. The shoes fit perfectly and were totally comfortable right out of the box. They're competitively priced and well worth the money. Purchase them and you won't be disappointed.

I purchased these in April of this year for hiking. I REALLY wanted to like my first pair of brand new hiking shoes, but these just didn’t fit as well as I liked. I’ve had many foot issues with plantar fasciitis, 10 toenail removals on one toe alone and surgery on my pinky toe. With all that, these shoes just didn’t cut it for me for hiking. Hoping my next pair of shoes work out better.

I LOVE THESE SHOES THIS IS MY 4TH PAIR, LOVE THE LOOK AND THEY NEVER HURT YOUR FEET RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.... I GO HIKING , WALKING AND JUST EVERY DAY WEAR I ALSO HAVE 4 PAIR OF THE SIREN SPORT AND DO FIND THEY HURT MY LITTLE TOE IF I DON'T WEAR A THICK SOCK... I HAVE NOT HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH MY SIREN EDGE LIKE OTHERS SO I RECOMMEND TRYING THEM... (MAYBE MERRELL HAD A BAD BATCH OF MATERIAL)

I have two pair of these and love them. I am 86 and have wimpy feet so need orthotics. I slip them under the insole of the Edge and can walk all day. I like the style. They make my size 9s look small. Please continue to make these so I can invest later in another color.

super comfortable but I returned and ordered a half size up (a 9 up to a 9.5) and, the 9.5 is perfect. I've never worn a 9.5 before but this one works

OMG -- I love these shoes! I was afraid to order since I have a narrow foot and struggle finding shoes to fit (especially without trying them on) BUT they came and I wore them immediately on a 3 mile hike and they were perfect! I did buy shoe insert for a little more cushioning and now they are my favorite shoe ever! I followed the guidelines for a true fit (I was wearing a 9N tennis shoe) and ordered an 8 1/2 and they were perfect. HIGHLY recommend!

Great shoe right out of the box. Good arch support. I went half a size up so I could wear a thicker sock. I ordered 3 - one in my size and one a half size up. Preferred the half size up and the black ones over the gray. I will likely put a different insole in, but the insole it comes with is fine. Great looking shoe.I won't have a problem going from the hiking trail into town wearing these. I bought the black with the purple edging.

Tried out today on a 4 mile hike in the Sierras and love them. Just the right amount of support for my 67 year old narrow, flat, overpronating feet. Love the rounded toe for wiggle room. I usually wear 8.5 in running and hiking shoes (tho 7.5 in street shoes) and these fit. They are relatively lightweight also. Finding shoes that work for my feet is difficult and I am happy to have found these.

I usually wear a size 8, but my previous Merrills were feeling too tight in the toe area, so I ordered these new ones in an 8.5 and the fit is perfect. I wore them all day yesterday, with no break-in period, and they felt great! I plan to use these for travel.

My daughter says these are the most comfortable shoes she owns. We bought them for hiking travels but she liked them so much she wore them every day once she got them. They perform well for every day but also provided support and comfort even on a 10 mile strenuous hike through the Leaping Tiger Gorge. She likes them so much that I bought a pair for myself!

I love these shoes! I wore them when I went to Hawaii and did a lot of the hiking trails, including Manoa Falls, Diamond Head Crater, and Koko Crater Trail. I had no problems with the shoes for any of those hikes. It was particularly useful in Manoa Falls, where the trail is wet and muddy and you're walking on potentially slippery rocks or wooden planks. I actually commented on these shoes as my friend and I were doing the trail because, at first, I was saying that I just got a pair of hiking shoes in case any trails I did were muddy (I didn't want to get my running shoes dirty or gross) and then, as we got further along the trail, it became apparent to me how useful these shoes were for that particular hike. The area we were walking in was muddy and you could see people holding onto a wall to avoid slipping, but in that same area I never slipped or felt like I was gonna slip. I believe it's because the shoes were really made for hiking. When you look at the bottom of the shoe, the grooves are really deep, so even if the area you're in is muddy or wet, you're still going to have a lot of the groove left to grip onto rocks/whatever surface you're walking on. Also, these shoes are really comfortable. I usually wear a 6.5 but felt like the 7 fit a lot nicer. I have flat and fairly wide feet, so if you're like me and normally go between two sizes, I'd definitely recommend getting the larger size!

Very supportive shoe when I add my medical orthotics. Otherwise, they have moderate arch support. They fit well around my somewhat narrow heel. Very comfortable, colorful with a nice design. This is my second pair. They proved to be worthwhile even though the design is not totally sewn. They held up for quite a long time. Enjoying the feel! Merrell shoes are one of the best brands I use for plantar fasciitis. They normally have excellent arch but these are fine with my inserts. All around a great comfortable shoe! P.S. Also good for walking on the sidewalk besides in the woods.

I ordered these shoes for a trip to Canada where there would be a lot of hiking and walking. These shoes exceeded my expectations. In areas where my friends were slipping, I had excellent grip. These don't say waterproof but I wonder if they are? I was the only one with dry feet after walking around in unexpected snow. Personally, I didn't LOVE the looks but they definitely kept my feet dry, and comfortable. I recommend.

My second pair of these shoes. Right out of the box and on my feet for perfect comfort. The first pair took me all over Greece, Australia and New Zealand. Now I’m ready for Scandinavia.
