I was very disappointed in this version of the Gel-Nimbus. The overall length is 1/8" shorter than the previous version and the toe box is much narrower. These two modifications force me to wear thinner socks than I like to wear. I don't mind when they improve the materials used and cushioning but I don't understand why they mess with the sizing. Please tone down the colors.

This is the same size I always order, but these were too small/tight. In reading other reviews, I see others are complaining that Asics have started making their shoes narrower. Not liking it!

Awkward toe box - way to much taper leading to very pointy toes!

I should have heeded the feedback and ordered a half size larger. The toe box is definitely smaller with this model. I have worn this type of ASICS running shoes for almost 10 years and can't believe there was so much difference with this shoe as compared to previous years. I used them for 3 months and the shoes have not loosened up.

These seem to probably be fine shoes, but they're not the running shoes for me. I had to return them because they were really crunching my toes in the toe box, in spite of the fact that I purchased the size that has always fit perfectly. It's not just that theses shoes are narrower: they also seem to be shorter and differently shaped?
I've been wearing Asics running shoes exclusively for almost twenty years and have loved them. It was great to be able to just order online and know they'd fit just right and perform perfectly. Now I have to start all over again and put time into finding a brand and a size that work well for me. I wish they hadn't done this re-sizing!

These are my first pair of Asics Gel-Nimbus 18. When I put them on they seemed to fit perfectly. Went on a 4 mile power walk to break them in and 2 miles into it my right foot ball area was burning so bad I didn't think I was going to make it back! Not impressed at all! I need a neutral shoe with good cushioning. I recently bought a pair of Brooks that are awesome and no foot pain whatsoever. I saw great reviews on the Asics and wanted another pair to alternate with. So, now I'm stuck with these shoes and can't wear them because the lack of cushioning.

Asics what have you done to the Gel Nimbus? I have owned several pair, they were my go to shoe for comfort and support. Not anymore, very disappointed.

I'm not sure exactly what the problem with these were, but they were the most uncomfortable shoe I have ever worn. I bought this because I was looking for a shoe that would be more supportive and comfortable. I attempted to break them in for two weeks with little success. Within one mile of walking, the three small toes on my left foot would start throbbing and do so on and off for the remainder for the walk. Farther into my walk, my left calf would also start throbbing. I went back to my $40 pair of Champion shoes with not much support a couple days ago, and there was absolutely no sign of the problem I was having with the Nimbus. The shoes were adorable, and I really wanted them to work. My heal also kept coming out the back of the shoe. I went into an Asics store today to find a better fitting shoe and someone suggested a shoe that was more firm. I went with the Dynaflyte. Hopefully, those work better.

I have worn this model shoe for 6 years. Always in gray palette. Ordered these because that color not available. I took one run in them and it was as if the bottom of my feet had an allergic reaction to the shoe material (wearing my regular socks), my feet felt like they were burning. And they were red when I took shoes off. Very weird. Will try another pair.

This is my second pair of Asics Gel sneaks and they are definitely going back. I ordered my usual 13W (D) and they are terribly narrow in the toe box. I'm currently wearing them at work with no actual exercise, and this is even painful. I can't wait to get home to take these off.

Very comfortable but not very durable. After only 2 1/2 months of moderate activity I can already see my toe through the top of the shoe. Also appears to be a very soft tread wearing away fairly easily.

Ohh! What have you done to my Asics! I have always worn the Nimbus for my 10.5 sized feet with high arches and have absolutely loved them. I have always gone up a size to an 11 Nimbus sized shoe just to have a touch more toe wiggle room and then used the additional lace hole to "lock my laces" so the shoe doesn't have laces dragging or becoming undone as I go on my daily 4 mile walk. Never, never ever had a problem with my super comfy Nimbus shoe....until this version. My toes are scrunched! It's like some &$#* corporate guy at Asics said "let's save 50 cents a shoe and cut the toe room down on an angle towards the little toe." Well, Mr Asics Corporate guy, I can't go up to an 11.5 if my normal size is a10.5. Locking laces or not, it will not work. I already go up to what was a perfect fit an 11 shoe before you screwed it up! All other aspects of the shoe are great..super cushy, great heal clutch, good design, but they changed the toe area (reduced area). I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone intelligent over at Asics will see the error of their ways and the next version will go back to the previous versions of my Nimbus and give all of us back our roomy toe area, if not, it breaks my heart but Asics will force this long time customer to start looking for another shoe brand!

I ordered these as they were rated as being excellent for foot pain. I always wear a 6 1/2 D. These were MUCH too narrow. I thought I might just try a larger size, but doubt that would have helped, so they are going back. Disappointing. Back to New Balance which offers a Wide width that is really a wide.

These were tight on my wide feet. I usually wear a D, but these in D seemed tighter than I like.

I love the look of these shoes and want to love them entirely! However, it seems Asics has changed the fit of the Gel Nimbus 18. I have worn Asics Gel-Nimbus shoes for years. I buy 2 pairs a year for working out. I have to say I am truly disappointed with the updated Gel Nimbus 18. The toe area is way narrower than previous models. I made the mistake of assuming the shoes would fit out the box as my other pairs have in the past. I use an Abeo cushion insert inside of the shoes as I have plantar fascitis. I threw away the original footbed that came with the shoes without testing the shoes first. I discovered the new fit during my first work out. I have only wore these a handful of times but they make my toes go numb. Unfortunately I can't return them due to my mistake of throwing out the original Asics footbed. Lesson learned to make sure shoes are comfortable before discarding anyting. Expensive lesson and very disappointed. Looking for another brand now.

After wearing these around the house for a solid 90 minutes, I'm posting an updated review. I ordered these in 9D because I have a somewhat wide toe area and narrow ankles and reviewers said the shoes run small. I wanted to love these because I'm sick of how much slippage I get with NB wides. Note: my feet measure a smidge bigger than a size 8.
Unfortunately, ASICS no longer seems to understand the concept of wide sneakers and these are narrower than regular sneakers from other companies I've worn. Plus, these sneakers also are a full size smaller than they should be. It's inconceivable that a size 9 does not fit a foot that measures approx. size 8.
The sneakers have a good cushy feel for those with narrow feet. But that's about where it ends. I tried to get used to how snug they were, but even with the laces at their loosest, they were too narrow. I am returning these and very disappointed.

I'm an avid Nimbus fan, I've owned at least 5 versions thus far and this version 18 is a huge disappointment. The toe box is much narrower than previous versions, so much so that I experienced major numbness and have had to quit wearing them. Average runs are between 3-6miles and I can't make it to the two mile mark without major discomfort. Wish I could return these but alas I have worn them.

I received an earlier shipment of Asics Gel-Nimbus 18 in narrow width and the fit was great. However, when I reordered the same size about 8 months later, the fit has changed. The footbed doesn't have as much padding, the length was shorter, arch support is almost non-existent & the toe box seems narrower. The Gel-Nimbus has been a great shoe for my narrow foot over the years but unfortunately the changes in this model won't allow me to keep it.

I don't know what is going on with the sizing, but if this continues I will not be buying ASICS. They have been my favorite shoe for many years.

I ordered 7.5 but somehow I ended up with wide. Anyway, it pinches on the arch -- perhaps because it's wide. I am not loving the fit at all. I wore Nimbus since 9. I love Nimbus 16 so I may have to look for that.
I'd also recommend:

I am typically an 8 1/2, but know to order up a half size with Asics. The toe box is very slanted -hits the toe next to my pinky toe (my feet are normal, nothing unusual in slope of toes). Also, the rear support at Achilles comes up much too high for me -got a severe blister by second day of 4 mile run. Style is wonderful, cushioning/arch support is great, but the tight toe box and high back might kill this shoe for me.

The sole bends entirely at any point in the last of the shoe. This means it is a very cushy shoe with no, and I do mean no, support; not just arch support, but support throughout the soles. Some people may like this, but I find the shoe feels terrific for about five minutes and then leaves my feet aching from the lack of support. It fits as described (so long as you know to order a full size larger than you wear in regular street shoes) and I appreciate that Asics makes shoes in narrow widths. Been a loyal customer of Asics for decades.

So these shoes were fabulously comfy out of the box. I have plantar fascitis and decided to splurge on super comfy shoes to try to mend my feet.
However, after about 2 months of owning these they've started to fall apart. The fabric behind the top of my heel has disintegrated and now there's a big hole and the fluffy behind the fabric is constantly balling up and coming off. A patch along the top edge by the laces has worn away. The fabric right above my big toe has worn away and there is now a hole.
I bought these in March and it is now September. I feel as if $150 shoes should last a lot longer than that.
I bought a pair of Gel-Cumulus ($89?) in May of 2015 and I replaced them in March when I bought there and they were much better condition than my new ones are.
Very disappointed. If you splurge on expensive shoes you expect quality and some longevity.

Confused. I have worn this shoe for more years than I can count. This is the first year that they don't fit. I think it may be related to the new shape of the toe. For me, there was no extra room for my big toe--basically none. I always purchase one size larger than my dress shoes which leaves plenty of room for my toes. Not for this year. My toe hits the front of the shoe. Considered ordering a half size larger--but I think the heel would be too large. (I normally wear a 6.5 and order a 7.5 in a sneaker.) Ordering a size 8 is counterintuitive to me. Makes me sad--as this has been my go to sneaker for many, many years. Not sure what brand I'm going to try. Overall rating 2 stars because of the length being short. However, plenty of cushion and the colors are great.
