I had worn Levi's 512 Perfectly Slimming jeans for years, but since they have been discontinued, I contacted Levi's to ask what my best alternative would be. The 314 Slimming jeans was recommended as supposedly similar, and in fact, I was told that I would like these better. Unfortunately, this style is nothing close to the old 512 style, and is unwearable. This style is very large through the waist and hip, so they keep sliding down and I am constantly pulling them up. While both styles are made with stretch fabric, this pair screams it out so much that the material looks nothing like denim. They went in the trash. Now I am going to have to hunt through various retail stores to try on many different brand name jeans to hopefully find something I can wear. That is definitely not my favorite task.

I keep trying to find a pair of Levi's to replace my 315's to no avail. Not everyone wants mid-rise jeans. Trust me. I love the weight of these jeans but they don't work for me at all. Boo hiss.

These jeans are fabulous and worth every penny! As a lady with an hourglass shape, these fit like they were made just for me and they hold me firm in all the right places. The fabric is a very nice blend of "give and hold" that so many jeans lack these days. I'm 5'4" and 165 lbs and bought a size 12. I look slimmer in these than anything else I have in my closet right now. The mid-rise is perfect and the waist is totally comfortable with no gap.

Omg. Great pair of jeans. So comfortable you can forget you're even wearing pants. I love these jeans. Stretchy, supportive, and great fit. For my body at least, a better fit than NYDJ at half the price (sorry, NYDJ!).

Love these jeans. The material is nice and the fit really well.

I like the color, I like the fit, I like the length. What is it I don't like? The fabric collects everything! Every bit of pet hair, every bit of lint, every bit of everything sticks to the fabric!

I have several pairs of Levi's 314 in this size but the ones in "blue" were way too big! They are going back.

I have really liked the pair of shaping straight Levi's I got in store but I need 34 length which is hard to find so I turned to Zappos. I have ordered several pairs and the sizing is very off. I wear 27/28 waist and these would not go over my thighs. I have returned all 3 pairs. Outside of that, the jeans are incredibly comfortable and ultra flattering. It's a shame they didn't come close to fitting.

Very comfortable. Not too low, not too high. Nice shape without being baggy or super skinny. So wish they came in a shorter inseam and more color options.

I wasn't sure about sizing, so I ordered a 29/32 and 30/32 in the faded and blue colored 314s. Unfortunately they are all going back. None of them were 32 length. At most they were 30 length. Also too much stretch in the waist. I know they will slide down. Still searching. I am going to try size 28 and hope their 32" lengths are indeed 32". Thanks for trying Zappos.

Bought two pairs of the exact same size in Worn Blue and Willow Glen. The Willow Glen fit great and the Worn Blue were significantly too tight. I put them flat on the bed to make sure I wasn't imagining it, but the darker pair was almost two inches smaller in the waist. Now I don't know what size to order. Otherwise, the fabric is soft, and the fit (on the lighter pair) is great. The pockets are unnecessarily short and won't hold your phone in the front. Why can't jeans makers understand that women need pockets too?

I LOVE these jeans! They are comparable to the 512's which I couldn't find. They are not the heavy stiff jean fabric but look like jeans and are mostly cotton but have enough spandex to suck everything in nice and tight; love handles and lumps GONE. I usually wear a 6 and so I ordered a 28 but it was a little more snug than I wanted. I am ordering two more pair but 29 instead. I am 5'5 and ordered a 30 inseam which was perfect but now they are out. It is worth hemming because they are so good. But maybe after I wash them, they will be shorter. At a 30 inseam, they were still a couple inches from the floor

I could see a hole in these without even opening the plastic bag!

These are very utilitarian jeans. I work in the garden with them. In my opinion, they are true to size. I'd buy them in a size down to wear with ankle boots for casual gatherings. I like the price point especially since the quality is even better.

I LOVE these jeans. Love that they are not skinny at then ankle but not wide. Love the color. They are a nice light blue. I am 5'4", stocky, 149 lb and the 28x32 is tight on me but fits. I wanted them tight so they would STAY UP without a belt. The stretch is perfect. Even though I bought down a size they are comfy. NOTE-I bought them in black and dark blue too, but those would not button so fit differs between the different fabrics. I was bummed. I wanted them in black and they did not have 30's.

These jeans are my new favorites- not too low, great dark blue color. The denim is very soft, I have them in white, light and dark blue. I'm a size 10, only 5' 2" and the 30x30 fit me like a glove- immediately comfortable. I highly recommend these jeans.

These were very high quality, soft fabric. They seemed like $200 jeans. They ran true to size--I am usually a 12, and the 31 fit great. I also liked the straight leg--skinny-ish, but not super skinny. However, they weren't what I was looking for--the fit on the thighs, butt, and stomach was a bit too jegging-like.

Love the way these jeans fit! Can be worn casual or for date night. The stretchy material never lost shape or felt loose as the night went on. Bought another pair the next day in a different color

Thanks to everyone who said they are the replacement for the 512's. I wouldn't have known to try them. The 27" fit great, but I decided to return for a 28. I am 5'4, 120 lbs. The 27 fit like a glove, but I think I want them a tad looser. The fabric is very stretchy and comfortable but otherwise a thick denim. Great jeans!

Count me among the 314 converts! Usually "shaping" jeans feel like girdles. These do not. Impressed with how the fabric doesn't get baggy and stretch out even though it's extremely comfortable. Wish there was a dark version w/o contrasting stitching. Out of the 6 pairs ordered, these were the only keepers. Going to wear them for a few weeks and might come back for more.

Ordered these in the dark wash too, which I preferred. This wash has a slight mom jeans quality. Fit and comfort was good though.

Meh. They're ok. The "blue" fabric doesn't feel like denim at all; it's very stretchy and lightweight. And the color looks like a fake cartoon "denim" color. I have short legs and a long torso and wear a size 8/10. On me, the size 30, 30 inseam was just long enough to wear with flats, but most people would probably need the 32 inseam. For those of us with crazy long torsos, the waist stops an inch or two below the belly button.
