I have very wide feet and the toe box was too narrow.

It is obvious these shoes are accepted by consumers. It appears most shoe makers have employed bait and switch. They are making huge profits by making shoes not worth 1/6th their price. They are running their companies into the ground and don't care. Whoever brings the old style and quality back will get all the business. They think we are suckers.

I had to return these shoes immediately. The right shoe had a flaw in the interior lining. There was excess fabric draping down from the inside of the shoe over the top of the foot. It had a "pucker" of material inside. This is the second pair of New Balance I have ordered from Zappos that were defective like this.

Here is another case of inconsistent sizing. Same size as I typically purchase, same size as the shoes that I needed to replace (different model, as the model I was wearing are no longer offered). They don't fit. I've worn them to play 4 or 5 times, I need to remove them immediate after each game, as my feet actually hurt. I was hoping it was a break in period, but I'm not seeing improvement. The hot stamped New Balance logo on the interior started lifting off after the first wear. Probably poetic justice that the first defect is the poorly applied company name. I'm probably going to have to take the hit, and replace these shoes after only a few wears.

I returned it as they were too short and my toe was at the front of the shoe.

I ordered the 12.5 EE which I wear in other NB shoes and the NB 1006 was too narrow across the forefoot and mid foot. I am returning it.

I'm very upset with New Balance. I've had many pairs of New Balance through the years. Why is it that now I am no longer a "D" width? D width is too narrow and EE is too wide. Also, I wore a size 10 with orthotics. Now I'm suddenly an 11! What is going on?

Unlike other New Balance 4E shoes, this one was painfully narrow on my foot.

I had the 1005 shoe and it was perfect 10 2E. But wore it out so bought 1006. Not the same shoe at all. Have worn it 4-5 times trying to break it in but can't get through one set without having to switch back to my worn out 1005. You know when something ain't broke why fix it. Bring back the 1005.

I have always been happy with NB 806 for both clay and hard surface. The webiste info convinced me to get the 1006. I wear a 4E. Shoes are very tight in the front and very loose in the heel. To my mind, given past experience with NB sizing, this narrow-wide thing is them not my foot.

I'll keep this short and simple: After the first week of general walking, not even playing tennis, cracks formed in the thin plastic toe cap. Those cracks are now much larger and my desire to buy shoes from someone else in the future is growing rapidly. Toe, arch, and instep are narrow (had to go 4E to fit the arch/instep) so I wish you luck finding a shoe that fits properly.

Durable and sturdy, but very uncomfortable. too much arch support and zero padding on the forefoot. Hoping NB will design a more durable 996 or LAV!

When I step on left shoe it makes a pop. I've owned four pairs of these previous without any problem. Will be returning for exchange. Used to wear the 1296 model for a decade. Bring it back, it's a much better shoe.

The lack of sizes and colors is now being talked about on the pickleball courts. Hope you ramp up providing a neutral wide shoe!

I purchased the 1006 and the 806 at the same time -- because I had read that New Balance has been narrowing their toe boxes over the years. Sure enough, the 1006's have a narrow box, even when compared to the 806's purchased simultaneously. I do not understand this marketing strategy. New Balance has a built in consumer base that NEED (as opposed to want) wide shoes and yet they have have made the commissive act of narrowing their product such that they alienate this built in consumer base. They are certainly free to do so. However, we all have a choice--and I am choosing to vote with my dollars and go elsewhere--even if it means spending five times as much on custom made court shoes. So, Mr./Ms. New Balance, if you are still reading, I suggest you re-think this strategy--or, alternatively--offer a custom fabrication service for those with hard to fit feet. We would gladly pay big bucks for such a service.

Unfortunately the 4e court shoes i purchased and have returned are the same size toe box as the 2 E wide that I also returned. Even though NB assures us that they will honor the returns I am still waiting for the refunds. Its disappointing that the designs have diminished the wide toe box feature that I have used and relied on over the years.

My feet were killing me even with purchasing the inserts. The 806 with the inserts worked well for me. No more 806 and they changed manufacturers of the inserts. The 1006 doesn't have the same support as the 806. I bought them online and returned them to the store without a problem.

Wanted to return the shoes as they did not fit well. Was informed by the website that I could return them at a New Balance shoe store and so I tried doing that. Was told by the shoe store that they do not do that there. So, mailed them back to New Balance. Just want people to know that the website is misleading or that the shoe stores don't know that they're supposed to take the shoes back at the store.

I was hoping this wide 4E would stretch out but it did not. The shoe narrows too quickly and makes the shoe unstable. I was looking for a #1540 with a tennis sole. I have been using the #1540 for several years. It looks like the MC806 might be the next try for a 14 -4E.

These shoes were very very narrow.. These shoes were so narrow that my big toe ended up on the right side of the shoe and my pinky toe was on the left.. and that was my right foot! HAHAHA!! The tongue was nice though..

I was hoping that these shoes would work and the reviews of being too narrow were wrong. I was wrong and the reviews were correct. The 4E are nowhere near being 4E - maybe 2E at best. New Balance consistency and quality is getting worse by every revision. Shoes I have worn for years are no longer wearable with each subsequent revision.

I would never buy this product again!!! I'm presently wearing a 1006 size 10.5 4e. I bought an 11 4e and I can't even get my foot in the sneaker. What did you do. I'm returning them right after New Year.
