Nice shoe to look at, but why such a narrow toe end? Trying them on was a very tight squeeze, couldn't wait to remove them. I now shop by rounded toe profile as my first consideration. BTW, I am tall and skinny with average with feet...

This is my final New Balance. Older models used to last for years. But something about the current materials and construction puts these things on death's door out of the box. I just started wearing it this month and the lace has sawed through the leather of the one of the holes. This has been a recurring problem with the brand.

The shoe was very cheaply made and built it had a narrow toe box on it which is not what they told me when I called earlier to new balance. So I returned it end of story and what I think about it

There is an absolute problem with width. These shoes are not a 4E! I have bought them before and they fit fine as far as width. These felt more like a D width! There is no excuse for a shoe that is advertised as a 4E to be so narrow. Shame on new balance!

Fit and feel were fine, but the stitching on the toe-box split after 2 months of use. These shoes were used only for tennis twice a week, and do not show wear elsewhere.

I have worn this shoe for years, but NB has obviously changed something. The toe box was excruciatingly narrow and after a walk, my feet were killing me. This seems to be a pattern for NB lately as there are tons of reviews saying that they have cheapened and ruined their shoes. You can add me to that list.

As a long time customer of NB, I am very disappointed in these. I bought them in June, started wearing them in July, and they were fine at first. Suddenly, at the beginning of August, something felt different and wrong. It's as if something inside, just ahead of the heels, has given out. First one foot, then the other a few days later, and the cut-out on the sole now acts like a suction cup on smooth surfaces! My feet feel lower at the heel, my feet hurt after a couple of hours, and sometimes my back aches. Yet, there is no visible wear on the outsole. A waste of money that I could barely afford.

I ordered two pairs of the exact same shoe, same size. One pair was perfect. On this pair, the left shoe was not long enough---the left shoe seemed to be an entirely different size. The left shoe did not fit, it was too short.

I have been buying and wearing New Balance shoes in a size 10 wide for over ten years with a great fit. Not these shoes. After just two short wearings (less than 2 hours) these shoes are too big and fit sloppy. Very disappointed. I wish I would have returned them as they are too sloppy on my feet and not comfortable to wear.

The construction looked poor. I could see the leftover glue around the sole. The Azorb pads were not shaped the same. The stiching was inconsistent. The assembly looked short. The leather side reinforcement was not cut the same from left to right. The vent holes were not through in some places and not consistent. Overall a poorly construted product.
I have purchased New Balance shoes for over 20 years. In the past the materials and construction were excellent. I hope this is not an indication of future quality.

I have been very pleased with a NB 608 in a 4E for years but it appears to no longer be available. This 623 looked to be a replacement, unfortunately it's not for me, way to narrow for a 4E and it appears to be more cheaply made.
