I love these! I have been going through slippers for years trying to find something warm, comfortable and without that darned hard rubber sole on the bottom of the slipper. I wear these around the house and I don't want a slipper that is a shoe. Curling up on the couch with those shoe soled slippers is like wearing my street shoes and then I kick them off defeating the purpose of wearing them to keep my feet warm! These are perfect! They have a very flexible, rubberized sole on the bottom for protection and skid resistance. So if I do step out onto the back porch to let the dogs in or out, I have some protection. I bought a size 38 and they fit perfectly, even with a sock. I usually wear 7.5 and these fit fine. I wasn't looking for any arch support but the moderate support in these is a welcome addition. I don't find them too narrow or wide. They're a bit pricey but I had a discount from points earned so that helped. But I really would consider buying them again at full price because they are exactly what I have been trying to find for years!

I have already written a favorable review for these slippers, but am submitting a revision. Everything about my first review remains the same, but after only 4-5 months of wear, my toes wore holes in the boiled wool on the top of BOTH slippers. For this price, I think slippers should last/wear A LOT longer. And while this is not the reason I returned them, my picture illustrates how the wool attracts and collects lint, pet hair, or just anything else - minor, but annoying - but requires constant maintenance.

Verrrrry disappointed. Happily bought this expensive slipper after reading rave reviews about fit and support. Wool has holes on top and bottom tread worn through, too, after inside-only use. I did not run a marathon in these, just normal household wear.

I normally wear an 8EE and a size 40 worked great for me. The insoles are felted wool over a molded rubber and they are awesome! This is my 4th try at finding a slipper/ houseshoe and the search is over!

Happy to have found a close back slipper warm, light and comfortable with great non marking non skid soles and on top of that nice looking. I will get another pair.

I loved these slippers and they fit great for about a month. I bought my usual size - 38. Now they have stretched out to feel 2 sizes bigger. I have an extra inch of room front-to-back and they trip me up going down the stairs. I'd like to order another pair in a smaller size, but they are so expensive I'm not sure what to do. It's a lot of money, but tripping and falling down the stairs isn't a great choice either. Other than that, they look nice and keep my feet warm. They show no wear after 1-2 months. The insole is removable, so you can replace it with your own if you want. The one that comes with the slippers has a nice wool footbed. It feels a little hard at first (not cushy) but I got used to it and appreciate the arch support. The bottom of the slippers keeps me from sliding around on the wood floors and doesn't leave marks. The soles probably aren't meant to go outside, but they're good for inside and perhaps a quick trip onto the porch.

These slippers were great for a few months until holes appeared in the toes. These are expensive slippers that should have lasted more than the few months I wore them.

I love these! I wear them all the time in the house now, a tad scratchy but definitely wearable without socks. I forget I have them on with socks. I can’t say how well they’ll hold up over time because I’ve only had them a few weeks but so far I’m very pleased! Best house shoes I’ve ever had.

I love these slippers. They are warm and as another reviewer said, they have a sole that will protect your feet if you step outdoors but they aren’t shoes. My pair is several years old and I have no holes in the toe area. They are wearing down on the sole but I would expect this over years of wear.

GREAT SLIPPERS! These are warm and cute. They have very good support and can be worn with cozy socks. Support is better than Birkenstock slippers. I wear a 7.5 and the 38 was comfortably roomy, not too small. VERY PLEASED! I am very pleased!

I was looking for a "house shoe" slipper. Have had uggs, wanted a different look. These are great, fit like a breathable glove, vibrant color that goes with jeans or pjs. I don't think they were intended for outdoor use, but have used them. Also purchased a second pair, I love them.

I really like these, other than the fact that they don't have a very feminine look about them. The fit is great and there is some arch support. The bottom is rubberized, but not hard or stiff. They've been my 'go to' house-shoes for the winter. I put them through the wash a couple of times; the first time they came out very nice...the 2nd time though, I think maybe the fabric (wool) wore a little thin. Odd, because the thinness is one of the attributes. Then, I sometimes wouldn't put the back of them on, and wear them like a slide. But that area now has worn thin, with holes. I would have liked it better if the wool didn't somehow wear thin. But instead of buying another pair, I think I'll get out the darning egg and attempt sewing them up. Can't see the price times two for one season's use. How about some other colors, but not muted! It seems the great majority of this brand uses muted colors, not clear shades. Black would be cool. A black, slip-on and/or slide would be awesome. One other thing...the bottom has worn thin too (see pics)...and it was constantly picking up crumbs and flipping them into the slippers. I can't tell you how many times I took them off to shake crumbs out! But still...they're my go to's...just like an old worn pair of...well, you know.

These are wonderful slippers. Keep my feet warm but not hot. Easy to get in to and out of. I usually have the heel stepped down so I just slip into them. I go out in the rain to take the dog out and my feet stay toasty. Pure wool…..

Two years ago, I had to change up my house-slipper game after getting Plantar Fasciitis. I tried four different brands before settling on these and love them! Honestly I have to admit I'm a bit perplexed on the reviews showing holes in the toe area after a few months. We have a "No Shoes" house so there's super high mileage on my Giesswein Gretchen's (especially now during Covid) and I don't even have "thinning" in the big toe area of my slippers. Full disclosure: I probably have slightly above average foot hygiene since the Plantar Fasciitis and I do like to keep my toe nails short.

I hate to take them off. Seriously. I wear my merino wool socks and my slippers all day long (I'm in cold weather PA). A bonus is that the inner sole can be easily pulled off and these babies can be washed. The rubber sole allows me to zip to the car or some place in the yard without issue. I almost wore them to the grocery store--I forgot they were slippers. Buy 'em. You won't be sorry.

These are as wonderful as described. I wanted something that was comfortable & supportive but let me feel like I was barefoot - which is my preferred way to be in the house. I've had 2 foot surgeries and a broken bone and arthritis, so my feet "are difficult to please." I just got these today and am so thrilled that I may order another pair to wear outside. They are expensive but it's worth it if they don't end up just sitting in my closet.

I bought these in black a couple of years ago. They have held up so well that I decided to get them in gray. I really like these. They have more arch support than most slippers and are very comfortable. I wish they had more colors in this style as I prefer traditional shoes rather than backless slides.

Ultra comfy and cozy - just what I was looking for. Warm, with a slight arch support - yet light-weight. These are defintiely a slipper - not a shoe - but the flexible rubber sole makes them sturdier and allows me to step outside.

Very comfy with gentle arch support. I like feeling that I am wearing soft slippers and not shoes in the house, so thin, flexible rubber sole is perfect.

I have long narrow feet and, since these don't come in the half sizes, the gift had to be returned for a full half size larger than I usually wear. And now they are a little wide. That said, I love the quality of the material, the arch support, and the washability so much, I don't mind a little sloppiness in the width.

I have Plantar Fasciitis so needed a more supportive slipper. I’ve tried quite a few but don’t like the heavier, more structured slippers. I’m of the belief that slippers are supposed to be comfy. And I heartedly dislike the fleece slippers that look like you’re wearing a sheep on each foot (although I'm sure they feel quite nice). The Giesswein Gretchen are my perfect solve so far. Admittedly I was worried about wool being itchy since I don’t wear socks with my slippers but that doesn’t seem to be a problem. BUT they do run large I think and are a bit on the roomy side. I wear a size 5.5 usually and ordered a size 5. If they stretch out, they will be too big. I’m not walking out of them and they do feel comfortable right now. I do wish they came in more colors, not sure I would have picked this Oatmeal color among others, but it’s pleasant enough and not an eyesore. One ding I would give it is one arch support is a tiny bit lower than the other. I know it’s not my foot arch since I putted out the inners and compared them. It’s kinda annoying but hey, that’s life. All in all, it’s a great slipper and I’m happy I can stop looking and kick back my non-skid heels.

These slippers were just what I wanted to wear around the house. They fit perfectly and they're very comfortable. Also, the non-slip sole is great. I always buy Giesswein slippers because I can count on a good fit, comfort, and long wear.
