At last I have found a bedroom slipper that has everything I have looked for. It slips on easily and gently hugs your heel, so no flopping or too tight a grip. I have a narrow foot and these were neither too wide nor too narrow. My sandals and closed toe shoes are Finn Comfort size 38 (in the Finn Comfort I can accommodate the width with the Velcro closures and/or socks. I was concerned the wool might be scratchy to my very sensitive skin, but it is soft and inside seams are smooth. I like the flexibility of the coated sole and the light support of the removable insert.

These shoes are made very well. I love the color blended. I also like the tread on the sole of the shoe. I wear orthonics and the inside foot-bed is too firm with my orthonics. I feel the end of the half orthonics under the middle of my foot and it does not feel good. I guess I need memory foam so the orthonic blends into the lining and no discomfort. If I didn't wear orthonics it would be good, maybe a bit too wide. It doesn't have much arch support but it is a slipper. Without orthonics the comfort would be a 5 star.

Oh wow, I just love these slippers! I tried at least 5 pair before landing on these and I am so glad I did. They are soft, comfortable and have solid support. They are excellent quality and love them so much! I have had them for about 2+ weeks and they continue to amaze!

I'm a size 11-1/2 on one foot and was hoping for the best as these only go up to 11...but unfortunately they are too short but otherwise super comfy

I LOVE THE GIESSWEIN GRETCHEN SLIPPERS, LITTLE PRICEY FOR SLIPPERS BUT I HAVE PLANTARS FACITIS WITH BONE SPURS IN LEFT HEEL & THEY ARE COMFORTABLE. HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FIRST PAIR & ZAPPOS TOOK CARE OF IT RIGHT AWAY. I DO BELEIVE I AM GOING TO BE A LOYAL CUSTOMER TO ZAPPOS & MY GRETCHEN SLIPPERS, THEY DO GET A LITTLE WARM ON A HOT DAY BUT THAT'S THE WOOL, JUST TAKE THEM OFF FOR A LITTLE WHILE THEN PUT THEM BACK ON.

Very comfortable slipper. Lots of room where the toes are. I love it and would highly recommend. I normally wear size 37 for running shoes, and 36 for sandals. I ordered 37 for this slipper and my heel was coming off when I walked, so it was a bit big, but with socks it fit well.

I've been wearing these for about a month now, and I love them! These replace a pair of Giesswein Andaus, which were a couple of years old, and had developed holes where the big toes go.
(They also had begun to smell badly on the interior, after 2+ straight years of being very well behaved.)
The Andau got me addicted to a closed back slipper, which just feels more secure while padding around the house, and adds at least a psychological addition of warmth. The extra tug it takes to slip them on is worth it.
I wear a size 7.5 dress shoe, so I wasn't sure which size to get (and was weary of poking holes through the front again), so I ordered both a 38 and and a 39, and tried them out. The 38 was snug, but uncomfortable with socks; the 39 is slightly roomy without socks, and absolutely perfect with.
I kept the size 39, and sent the 38 back.
After developing plantar fasciitis in 2012, I now crave constant support. The insole that comes with these slippers has a very good arch, and I find it is supportive enough for me. Should you so desire, these insoles can be removed, and you can slip your own in.
Love my new slippers! Heartily and happily recommend.

Love, love!! Warm, cozy, easy on and off. As someone else said you can wear them on the couch or curled up by the fire. Other slippers feel like shoes.

My Wife loves these slippers. They are very form-fitting to an individuals' feet because of the material that the upper is made of. They are very light and machine-washable without sacrificing durability.

COMFY, COZY AND TOO CUTE FOR WORDS. Echoing another reviewer's sentiment, it is really hard to find a house slipper these days that isn't actually a shoe. I don't want slippers to wear to the grocery store, I want slippers to wear around the house. I was so happy find these adorable slippers that come with the added bonus of arch support while still having a flexible sole that isn't thick and clunky. I don't normally spend this much money for house slippers, but if it's what it takes to have a real slipper worthy of curling up on the loveseat in, well sign me up. I normally wear a 7 or 7.5 shoe, and this slipper in size 38 fits perfectly, even with a medium-weight socks. For me, there's nothing not to like in the cute slipper.

Love the warm but not hot wool, the looks, the arch support, the comfort, but the 38 was a bit short. I'll be trying the 39. (I usually wear a 7 1/2 and in most European slippers/shoes can size down to a 38.)

I LOVE these slippers! I usually buy Haflinger (not made in Germany anymore) but the style/color I wanted wasn't available and I'm so glad. I wear an 11 women and bought 42/11 and the fit is perfect. Excellent arch support and I have heal pain and planters issues. My feet do not sweat and I like that these are washable. They have a slight rubber bottom so I can run outside for this & that without worrying about slipping. Worth the $$ and these are STILL made in Austria AND they are an Environmentally friendly company.

I wear a 9.5 or 40. I ordered the slipper in a 9, but though comfortable, it was a bit short. I thought I would wear out the toe quickly, so I exchanged the 9 for a 10. My foot slides around in them a little, but I loved the overall comfort and perfectly placed arch support. The slippers fit well with a sock, so I've kept them and am glad that I did.

The slippers were comfortable and well-constructed. I decided that I prefer black to go with my mostly black yoga pants so I decided to return them. I would have kept them if they had black.

The wool felt a tiny bit scratchy, but it probably would have softened with wear, and the slippers had a little more support than my 14-year-old Haflingers. I wanted something with a back to help hold the slipper on my feet, but this was so loose that my heel came out and I ended up walking on the back. I don't think a smaller size would work.

I tried 4 different styles of Giessweins...these seemed shorter (1/2 smaller than marked) than the others in the same size. Also because there isn't much structure to the top, they looked floppy/wide on my feet.

Recently learned that I am now a 10 wide, have a bone spur on my right heel, and may also have plantar fasciitis and a falling arch on that foot. I had to pretty much donate all of my shoes and start looking for more support. I decided to try to find slippers first, and found that these keep my feet warm and dry but comfortable, provide moderate arch support, and the black wool upper looks great with everything. Nonskid, non-marking outer sole a plus. A closed back and removable washable insole means I can later replace it with a custom orthotic. I've had them almost a month and they have yet to stretch out or cause me to trip or stumble on stairs. These are my house shoes, not just slippers. If I need to ease the bone spur more, I can switch to a more supportive shoe. I wish I could have had them at a lower price, but they seem to be well made--in Austria, not China, and that makes me feel better about the cost.

The arch support is pretty good though I had hoped it would be a little bit better. The insoles are removal so if you wanted to put in your own custom orthotics, you can. They are actually quite warm and sometimes my feet get kind of sweaty, so I need to take them off and switch to another pair of slippers or flip-flops. I like the fact that they have a closed heel. I tried another style of Giesswein slippers but because of the open back, I could not get a proper fit.

These are cute and practical. Removable insole is great for those interested in a flat footbed (barefoot style) but the option of arch support when you want it. Nicely wide toe box (again helpful to barefoot-style shoe adherents) but not so wide as to look like clown shoes. I only wish the purple had been available in my size.

I prefer to allow my feet to move naturally. After wearing these around the house for two days, the thick, molded insole started to cause pain and cramping. I removed them, and now they're much more my speed, but too roomy. If you like a big, molded arch, you'll like these. If not, plan to buy a size down so they're not too big after you remove the insoles. Without the insoles there's really no padding, but again, I don't mind, my feet are used to contact with the ground.

Disappointed—ordered as replacement for my beloved “spitals” which you did not have in my size. Gretchens fit totally differently, arch support was less, overall nothing like the Spitals I’ve been able to get in the past. So sad. ?
