These boots are everything I have heard online and more! :) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them! One word of caution is that they do take time to break in...as they initially are hard to get on and off. These boots do stretch, but they are true to size so they do not stretch a whole bunch. They are really comfortable once worn a few times & had time to stretch to your leg/foot. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for these boots. And they do not go on sale...hardly ever, so get these Melissa Button Frye boots today!

I love these boots. I didn't know which color to get, so I ordered the dark brown and the brown. I stuck with the brown. The dark brown was just too dark. But still a great boot! I ordered a 9.5 and it fit perfectly.

I have been on the search for a "perfect" pair of black riding boots for quite a while and I have finally found them in the Frye Melissa boots - extended calf. I tried several designer boots and they would just not zip up. I ordered these thinking the same thing, but I have plenty of room to tuck in my skinny jeans. These boots are super comfortable & the perfect height (I am 5'8") that I wanted. Today is my first day wearing them and I have received a ton of compliments. I am going to New York City next week for Christmas & I can't wait to rock these!

After fitting on many different boots in various stores, I finally decided to give these a go after reading the reviews, and am glad I did. This is a simple classic style which you can pull on and feel comfortable in, without looking like you're trying too hard. I have already had several people stop to ask where I got them. Agree with other reviewers that the gorgeous leather feel and smell are a bonus. I got the 'dark brown soft vintage' leather. What I'm happiest about though is the ankle fit. Some of the other boots I tried previously looked good in store, but while walking in them at home, frustratingly had the tendency to looking 'bulgy' around the ankles, perhaps because my legs and ankles are thin. These however kept their shape and looks like they will continue to do so. As far as size and comfort, my usual size is between 6-7 so debated between 6, 6.5 and 7. 7 was way too big and I finally kept the 6.5 to use with socks and a thin insole. They haven't stretched out much so I'm glad I stuck with them. I wouldn't say they are cushy since the sole is leather, but certainly comfortable enough to walk around in for say 4 hours without discomfort. In case anyone is also trying to decide between sizes, there was a much bigger difference between the 6.5 and the 7, than between the 6 and 6.5. Finally I have to say Zappos customer service was great, they were very patient and helpful while I was trying to decide on the correct size!

I stared at these boots for a year before finally taking the plunge and buying them. I'm normally not one to buy expensive clothes or shoes for myself, but these boots are 100% worth it! I'm so pleased with these boots, and on top of the great product Zappos, as everyone knows, provides top notch customer service. Saving my pennies until I can buy a second pair of Fryes!

I had been lusting after these boots for months before finally getting them for my birthday two weeks ago. I would have had my husband order them in advance, but both of my other pairs of Fryes are different sizes (one is 9.5 and one is 9) and I wasn't sure if my calves would fit in these, as they're pretty muscular and I've had problems with boots before. Some of the reviews said that these fit larger calves fine, but they also come in the extended calf sizes so I wasn't quite sure which to choose. I decided to go to the actual Frye store in SoHo, as we live in NYC, and I tried them on. I first tried the regular style, where the 9 was a little bit tight and the 9.5 fit perfectly, but they were both pretty tight around my calf. I then tried on the extended calf style and the 9 fit absolutely perfect! My only complaint is that the colors in the extended calf are way more limited than the regular style. I had been hoping to get them in brown but ended up getting them in cognac instead, which luckily isn't as red in person as in some of the pictures I've seen. Anyway, I ADORE these boots. I have only gotten to wear them 4 times because I don't want to wear them in the rain, but the first three times they were perfectly comfortable and I only got a blister the fourth time I wore them, which was just because I was walking A LOT. They're already starting to get broken in, they fit perfectly over my skinny jeans but will look great with a skirt in the spring, and I've gotten so many compliments on them already! I love them so so much and highly recommend them! Also, I didn't know this until I went into their store, but Frye has a 2 year warranty on all of their boots. I need to get my Veronica Slouch boots resoled (and of course they're now 3 years old, and I haven't worn them in over a year because the soles are so worn out) but they said that they will resole them, and it will still be less expensive than taking them to a random cobbler. I would much rather trust the boots to them anyway! Love Frye! :)

Love these boots. They fit true to size (I wear an 8.5 or 9 and ordered a 9). The distressed leather is an excellent quality. The boot looks fabulous with jeans or leggings. They are super comfortable - I walked all over NYC in them and my feet didn't hurt at all. Frye quality can't be beat. Zappos has the best return policy too. I ordered another pair of Frye's that didn't fit and they refunded my money right away. I love Zappos!

I have had these boots for about five months now and they are only getting better. When I first got them, they felt a little stiff and I wasn't sure how they would break in but they are amazing! It took a lot for me to summon the courage to purchase these boots because of the price point, but they are definitely worth it. The leather is gorgeous and so well made. Zappos customer service is amazing. I originally ordered the antique brown full grain leather but decided that I wanted to see how the dark brown brush off leather looked and they sent me another pair without charging me so that I could test them both out. I ended up keeping the antique brown because I really like the richness of the brown. Overall, a great purchase! Thanks zappos!

I love this boot! The only thing I will say is I had to buy a half size larger than I normally would've in a boot.

Frye boots are amazing and these do not disappoint. The style is super relaxed and casual, but enhances everything you where them with. The chocolate vintage leather has a distressed look and feel and goes well with boot jeans, skinny jeans and skirts. Very comfortable with plenty of toe and calf room.

I have been wanting these boots for years! I received them as a surprise from my husband for my birthday this year. The boots, while gorgeous, are made for a tall and thin calved lady. Not someone with a 5'5' soccer player build. The boots wouldn't fit with skinny jeans. The sole also hurt my high arches. However, they look gorgeous in the box and the leather is to die for! So back they go.

These are my second pair of Frye boots from Zappos. My first pair, Shirley Riding, continues to get compliments from everytime I wear them, even the clerk at Nordstrom commented on them when I was there last week. I wanted a black pair this year, again in a flat. I put these on the day they arrived and like the Shirly Riding, these stayed on for a full week. With the button tab they are easy to take off and on. Very comfortable for all day wear. Looks great with skinny jeans or under a nice boot leg jean too. Invest in a great pair of boots, it is well worth it.

LOVE these boots. They even look better in person. They fit really well and never give me blisters even with sporadic wear. I got a 1/2 size smaller than I normally wear at a friend's suggestion who buys Frye boots often and they fit perfect.

Love my Frye boots! Was nervous due to the cost but after a month of wear, they seem to be worth it! I have muscular calves, have had difficulties with other brands. Loved that even though I purchased them on a Saturday night, they had arrived by Monday.

These boots are beautiful! I love the grey color, and they fit perfectly! I want them in every color.

Loved this distressed boot! However, I have to return it. Wearing this boot with a skinny jean would be tight for my leg. No problem when wearing leggings.

Great look but with my high instep I will have to order a 1/2 size larger and wear heavier sock on one foot. Hope that works.

I have been lusting after Frye for quite some time - more than 30 years since my campus boots. After seeing the Melissa Button in a european airport, I finally took the plunge. I ordered my size. The fit is perfect: I am wearing them around barefoot now, with my traditional style jeans OUTSIDE and they are comfortable, flexible and sexy in a flat heel sort of way. I could DANCE in these! They go to work with skinny jeans tomorrow. I wish I could afford two more colors. I bought the smoke color for wardrobe flexibility. It's taupe-ish, which can be easily worn with black, blue, brown. I won't mind if the conditioner and water treatment makes them darker.

Love these boots! Originally purchased in a size 7, I returned them and went down to a 6.5. They fit like a dress shoe, thus the smaller size. Takes a while to break these in, but I just wore a bandaid every time I wore them. Great quality - I hope to have these boots a long time! Those with larger than average calves will want to purchase the wide-calf version!
