These are everything I wanted them to be! The perfect staple leather riding boot, and worth the splurge. I really recommend waterproofing despite the slight change in color, it's not too noticeable. I've worn them in the rain and there are 0 spots, and don't scratch as easily. It's safe to say I am a Frye lover for life now. Will definitely be buying other styles.

Gorgeous boots, have already gotten a ton of compliments on them! They are well made and the style is classic, I will have them for years. That said, it's worth mentioning that the leather on these is VERY stiff out of the box. (I got the dark brown brush-off, size 7 which is my usual size.) The first time I wore them I thought my toes would fall off they hurt so much from the pressure on top of them (they are wide enough-I don't think a size bigger would help)! They do seem to be softening up/stretching a bit with wear, but especially around the toe box the leather just feels very inflexible. Hoping this will resolve with more wear, because otherwise I do love these boots!

I LOVE these boots. After about an hour wearing, they feel as they mold to your foot since the leather is top quality. I'm looking to get another pair, different style but haven't decided yet. Oh and don't buy the cheap leather cleaner/conditioner - spend money or so and get the Frye stuff - it's worth it, makes your boots clean, shiny, and gorgeous.

These are my first pair of Frye boots, although I have been coveting a pair for a long time. The scent of leather wafts out of the box upon opening. The leather is buttery soft. I wear an 8 1/2 and these fit with a little wiggle room for thick socks later on. The calf is roomy enough to stuff my boot-cut jeans in them (couldn't be bothered to run upstairs and change jeans). I am a runner and an equestrian; my legs are not thin. Would now like a pair in brown!

Extremely comfortable and a beautiful color! Obviously too hot for DC summers, but I cannot for Fall to come so I can start wearing them again. I wear a 7.5 and it was true to size!

Love these boots! I usually don't spend so much money on shoes. But these have been worth every penny! They are stylish and comfortable. Will save up for another pair of Fryes!

After wearing $70 boots for the last several years, I finally broke down and decided to buy myself my first pair of real leather boots. I've only had my boots for one day and I can already tell what a big difference they are going to make! As I said before, I usually buy boots for under $100, thinking that they are going to hold up, but they never do. I was tired of replacing them every 4-5 months. From fall until spring, my go to shoes are boots, all day, everyday. I wear boots more than any other pair of shoes I own. I decided to go with the Melissa Button in Cognac because I love the easy, pull-on style and since I have runner's calves, anything with zippers is an automatic no for me. I chose the cognac because I've always gotten dark boots and wanted to try a lighter color this time around. When I first put the boots on, I almost couldn't get my left foot and leg into it, but, from reading the reviews, I new if I wore them around the house, they would stretch. I also wore them to work to help stretch them out more. The only thing I would say needs some work is the arch support. I'm finding that these boots don't really have any, but I've always had to go out and by insoles so it's not a huge issue for me. I also bought the Frye's weatherproof cream that I'll be testing out shortly. In all, I'm very happy with these boots and can say this won't be my last pair! I plan to get a pair in dark brown and in black...when I have the funds! Now if only I had a horse!

These boots are my favorite that I've ever had! Beautiful, classic style. The leather, that the cognac comes in, is unbelievably soft and supple which makes them extremely comfortable and gorgeous. They seem to melt onto your feet and legs. I absolutely love them! My favorite boots I've ever owned and I'm 60, so I've owned a few! I conditioned the leather to protect it with Frye's Weatherproof dressing (not the Waterproof dressing with mink oil). It did not darken the leather. Since I've learned that Frye will recondition the boots if they ever need it, hopefully these are the last boots I'll need to buy! Superior quality definitely makes them worth the price!

I am a true blue Frye girl. This is my 5th pair. They're definitely a luxury, but well worth the money! I live in Colorado where it could be sunny, raining or snowing any day and I need shoes that can hold up. Also it's worth it to me because boots are all I wear! I'm 5'3, so I'm not a huge fan of boots without heels, but this style boot is an essential for any wardrobe. They're classic and can be casual or dressed up! The leather and craftsmanship is unbeatable. I'm looking forward to wearing these with jeans, shorts, skirts or dresses - I know my feet will enjoy the break from my every day heel that I typically wear! For girls that are looking for a heeled look, I HIGHLY recommend the Frye Jackie - for something more wide legged, I would recommend the Frye Jane. I have the Jackie in black and cognac and they're perfect for any type of occasion. The Frye Jane I have in brush off brown and I love them for when I'm wearing jeans that are flared or not skinny. Zappos is always the best and I don't think I'll ever order from anywhere else. My order took a few days to go through but once it did it came the very next day!

Love my Melissa button boots in cognac, a beautiful brown with golden tones. I've been waiting for over a year to buy them, and once I put them on, they fit perfectly from day 1. Frye is a great product, all leather, and so comfortable! Surprised they were made in Mexico, not USA.

The perfect boot. I ordered a size 9.5 B & the fit was true to size. Comfortable to wear all day and the leather is beautiful. I would recommend.

Love these boots. I was put off by the price at first but with friends raving about them I took the plunge and I couldn't be happier. They are so comfortable, well made, and beautiful. I got cognac and the color is exactly what I hoped for. I love them so much I bought a second pair of Fryes a few weeks after I bought the Melissa Buttons. I have small calves so I had no trouble getting them on and off. I usually wear an 8.5 or 9 and ended up needing an 8 so I feel they run a bit large which made me very thankful for Zappos free return policy so I could get the correct size without losing money. You want them to be a tad bit snug because they definitely stretch out some with wear when the leather starts to soften up and break in. I feel like these boots are a nice investment that will last me years. I can't wait for my second pair to arrive.

I absolutely love these boots! I was dying for a pair of Fryes - this pair, in fact, and was so excited to see the very color that I wanted on sale. I ordered a size 9, my usual size, and the fit was great. However, there is no zipper (which I knew, and preferred) and getting them on was somewhat of a challenge. I tried the plastic bag trick and they slid right on. The footbed is a great fit, the calf is perfect, and they are gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Sole is a bit slippery when new (no problem, stomped around outside a bit and gained some traction). Since they are a wonderful leather, they have already molded to a perfect fit around my feet. This will not be my last pair of Fryes!

This is my third pair of Frye boots and I was not disappointed! I have these in Fawn (Size 8 1/2) and another riding boot (sixe 8). I normally wear a size 9 in shoes. The 8 1/2 in this style was a little loose so I tried these in an 8. They fit well but are hard to get on. my next pair will be an 8 1/2.

These boots are great! comfortable from the minute I put them on Christmas Day. True to size, and so pretty! Love!

Ordered my 1st pair of Frye boots, picked this style in Bordeaux. I am in love! Beautiful, right out of the box! Perfect fit! I am an 8 1/2 & that's what I ordered. Love the color, quality of leather & the style. I will definitely be back for more!

This is my second pair of Melissa Button. My first pair was black. I wanted a brown pair but thought the cognac had too much orange and the other browns just not right either. I read on a review that the gray is actually a brown. This is the one that I kept. To me, it is a true brown. It is lighter than the dark brown, which to me looked too close to black. The Melissa Button is really comfortable. I do not like a zipper in a boot, so I look at those styles. The Melissa is easy to get on without the zipper and the heel height and shaft length is just right.

BEST BOOTS EVER. I've owned a ton of boots in my life and these are one of my favorites. Beautiful color, timeless style and just plain fabulous. I am officially addicted to Frye.

I am 5'2" and had been in search of the perfect casual but versatile boot for a couple years and I kept coming back to the Melissa button and the Paige tall riding boots. I finally decided on the Paige boots but, much to my dismay, they were way too tall for me; they hit right under my knee cap and would get caught under my knee cap. So, I decided on the Melissa Button. Of course, with Zappos wonderful customer service, I had my new boots the next morning and they are wonderful!! The leather is beautiful and the boots are not too hard to pull on; the tabs on the side are wonderful for pulling that last bit to get your heel in the boot. I am a runner so I have thicker calves and I can get my skinny jeans in the boots with not trouble. They also are not too tall, hitting about 2 inches below my knee, so they still look really good with a dress. They are a little snug at the toe but I think in time they will stretch out. Overall I am very pleased with these boots and would recommend them to you if you are looking for a casual versatile boot.

These are great boots. They are worth the money. They will be in style forever. They look great with everything.

I purchased these boots as a Christmas gift for my wife. Although she had indicated a desire for tall boots, she never would have spent what these cost. So and perfect gift. She loves them. I purchased the size indicated on her other comfortable shoes, and she says they fit perfectly. She loves the simple lines and obvious terrific craftsmanship that goes into these boots. Unfortunately, two days after receiving them, she broke bones in her foot and hasn't been able to wear them yet. The delay is killing her (which says a lot about how much she likes the boots!)

Love them but make sure you measure around your calf before ordered. They were a little too tight for my legs because I did not measure right.
