I love these boots! I tend to have trouble getting my feet into boots without zips but didn't have a problem with this pair for some reason. These are the best boots I've ever had. Now I want the short version too.:) I hope they last a long time.

These are just gorgeous! I've been trying to find the perfect riding boot for 2 years now and after trying on tons of others, these were it. The reviews helped. I'm an 8 in every other shoe, but ordered 7.5 and they fit great. A little snug at first, but the leather will take the shape of your foot. The quality is great and it speaks volumes! It's a beautiful classic style boot that will never go out of style. It's understated luxury. Well worth the price. You will not be disappointed. I can't wait to wear them!

I absolutely love these boots. In fact, I liked my first pair in Bordeaux so much I ordered a second pair in soft vintage black. I will concur that they are quite difficult to get on and off, and I often have my husband help in yanking them off. However, they are of great quality and quite comfortable. I found the size to be true, as I ordered my normal size, and they are a perfect fit. As always Zappos shipping and customer service is beyond amazing. I ordered my first pair during the afternoon one day and they were at my door the next morning: for FREE! How can anyone beat that? The Melissa is well worth the price tag, and I recommend Frye as a durable, well made, and stylish boot.

My new boots just arrived today and I am wearing them as I write this review. I have narrow feet and these fit perfectly. My foot slipped right in with no problem. I can't wait for cooler weather so I can wear them!! Beautiful, well-made boot! I usually wear a 9 1/2 but ordered the 9 and they are perfect!

I needed a new fall riding boot to last me a few years, and I was not disappointed with the Frye Melissa Button. I got them in Cognac, and loved the reddish tint of the leather. They were a little more than I was initially looking to spend, but so many other boots I'd looked at seemed flimsy, while these are clearly built to last, and just look gorgeous. They also fit perfectly in the calf, whereas many boots I've tried on leave a gap for me between my calf. They also leave just enough room for a thick pair of socks and skinny jeans though for when fall gets cold! They're comfortable, gorgeously made, and I can't wait to keep wearing them!

Love these boots - this is my second pair. Black first, now cognac. They are a bit stiff and tough to put on at the beginning, but they get softer and softer every time. I've had my black ones for over a year now, wear them 2 days/week and they are not too soft and slouchy yet. I highly recommend getting the soles reinforced by a cobbler. Costs $20-30 and will majorly increase the life of your sole!

Love! Comfortable even in San Francisco climbing hills and sightseeing. Very happy with fit and color.

Love these boots! For me they were comfortable right out of the box. I typically wear a 7 1/2 or an 8 because I have a slightly wide foot. I went with the size 8. They fit well and if they stretch just a little I'll have room for a thicker sock when the weather gets warmer. I didn't have any problem getting them on or off. I got the light brown brush off and have found that this color is very versatile.

Love these boots. Like the previous reviewers said, I went with a half size smaller, and I'm so glad I did. I am generally a 7.5 but sometimes a 7 so I went with the 7. They fit perfectly! A little bit of effort to get them on, but the pull tabs along the side make it much easier. I went with the grey color, I was originally thinking a black but then when I saw the grey in a store I knew that was the right call. In some lighting they look more brownish, but I think that just makes them more versatile. Worth every penny! Now I just wish fall would come so I could start rocking them.

Beautifully made and a wonderful fit on my 5'3", skinny calved self. I have a very high arch, so not much support there. But I still give five stars since the average person would have plenty of support.

I love these boots. Every time I wear them, I get tons of compliments. The leather is durable and I know I will have these boots for a very long time.

These are the ultimate riding boots! I have wanted these for a couple years, but couldn't justify the price tag. I finally took the plunge this year and ordered a pair. They fit better than any other boot I've bought-these are definitely made for people with narrow feet and thin calves. As a petite girl (5'2") and very slim, it's hard to find a pair of boots that aren't huge on me. These suit my narrow feet and don't gap a ton on my legs. I ordered my regular size 6 and they fit perfectly. The vintage black is gorgeous - they look perfectly worn-in instead of pure black. I'm very satisfied with Zappos - got overnight shipping and could enjoy the boots quickly!

Love. Got in light brown, they go great with black or brown. Very comfortable and warm. I am going to wear them all winter. Excellent quality. They are worth every penny. I love Frye boots (and Zappos' quick shipping)!

After reading so many positive reviews for the Mel Button Frye's. I decided to go to a local store to try them on. Many reviewers had said they were 1/2 size too large, but I could not get my foot in the boot when I sized down. I ended up purchasing the boot from the store in the size I always wear. I can get them on fairly easy. I am really glad that I tried them on before ordering small and then having to return them. I wanted to say, stick with your size with these ladies, and you will love them! Also, be careful with these boots, they are slippery new...but beautiful all round!

After much debating I finally broke down and bought these. I am so glad I did! The issue for me is that I am only 5'2 so most tall boots don't hit my calf at the right spot. But because the boot shaft is so slim on these, they look great. It wouldn't hurt if it was either an inch shorter or if I was an inch taller, but I've never had a "tall boot" look this good on me before. For short people I think it's all about where your knee cap happens to be...I know someone who is only 5'3 but her shins are so long that she can wear 16" boot shafts and they look the same as they do on someone who is 5'10. So for shorter people looking for a good tall boot, don't be afraid to check these out! I will say that the top flares a little bit, but if you have slim calves they'll look fine. I'm a true 7 but went for the 6.5, as I think the pair of 7's I tried on had been worn before. The leather was softer and everything was so huge, but the 6.5 fits perfectly. The leather is great quality, as always. A little stiff, but I've worn mine a few times now and they're already starting to give. The soles are a little slippery so I bought non-slip pads for them and they're perfect. I can't wait to wear these every day!

Just got my boots! I love Zappos! I can look today and where tomorrow! These boots are beautiful! I order true to my size 6/12 and they are perfect. Like other reviews said, they are hard to get on at first. I started with a pair of panty hose, then thin socks and am breaking them in but the fit, is perfect! I can't wait to wear them out tonight. So worth the Frye price. They will last forever and look like they are hand made! I love them!

The Bordeaux is a really beautiful boot. I wear a 9 and the only reason I returned these was because the shaft was too wide for my thinner calves. So far, the best Frye for my shoe size has been the Taylor.

I bought these boots last year in the color fawn. Best boots I've ever bought. Yes, they are pricey but worth the investment. They are so comfortable. I have pretty skinny calves so it's hard to find boots. But, these are perfect. I wear them outside of my jeans.

These boots are sweet and really well made! My sister has the dark brown and I got the black. The more you wear them the better they look. Really comfy too.

My boots just arrived! I have been coveting these for months now. I already own so many black boots that I decided to take a chance and get these in grey. They are every bit as gorgeous as I had hoped they would be, with a beautiful soft antique dark grey color. I was worried that they would have too much brown, but the color is a perfect dark grey. I just received my bordeaux boots today and I love them! Unfortunately with this shade of boot you have to arrange your outfit around the boot. My boyfriend first insisted that I send them back for the cognac pair. I've grown to attached to these though. The style is beautiful and the new leather smell is amazing. The arch support feels a little odd for me at the moment (size 10). I feel as if the arch begins to dip down too soon for my foot and I feel as if part of my foot is suspending in air. I'm hoping this will go away somehow with breaking in the shoe. I certainly love them though and hope they last as long as everyone says they can. It really is a half size too big. I love that though. I hate having my toes feel cramped and I also like to be able to wear thick socks in the fall and winter time. The size feels perfect with my thick leggings and socks.

The boots flare slightly at the top, absolutely the wrong look for someone who is 5'1. The flare isn't evident in the front and back views: if I had detected it I wouldn't have ordered them. But great boots for a taller person!

These just came and already am I in love with them. I was a little skeptical because the "Jane" Frye boots literally swallowed my legs (I have small calves), but these are perfect! Definitely order a size down...even if you don't think you need to. I'm a size 8 in every pair of shoes on the planet but took a leap of faith and ordered a 7.5 in these and they fit perfectly. Plus, leather stretches. That said, they are almost impossible to get on at first. But worth it once you cram your foot in. Don't give up! They are so cute and the high quality is apparent. Buy these -- they will last you a lifetime!

The boots are great and so is Zappos! I want to start by saying that this is the best customer service I have encountered, ever! I ordered these in dark brown vintage first and when they came (the next day even though I had not requested expedited shipping, thanks Zappos!) they had a weird, white film on them. I called customer service and explained. They immediately shipped a new pair (this time I ordered Cognac vintage) which arrived the next day and are beautiful! Love the size, color and style.
