I want to preface this review by declaring my undying decade long love for Zappos. After returning from maternity leave, my new boss announced that our office would be moving to NYC from NJ in November and I immediately knew I had to get a pair of boots if I wanted my feet to survive snowy NYC streets in the winter. Being a person that has really only worn Chucks (Converse) or the same pair of black flats for the last year, I had no idea what I was doing. I ordered at least 10 different pairs of boots to try (that's shooting low) and was disappointed every time (bless you Zappos and your wonderful return policy - you will have my heart forever). But then I came across these boots by Birkenstock and once again I had hope. I am not a fancy shoes girl and hate anything with a heel, so these looked promising. I cautiously opened the box, zipped them on and took a step. They were perfect. I stood in my mirror ogling them from every angle to make sure I wasn't seeing a mirage. Could it be? A pair of black boots that fit right and actually looked like me? Yep. Thanks to Birkenstock and Zappos, the quest for a simple black boot was over and I could not be happier. Size was right, calf was a little tight at the top (but I have bigger calves), good arch support and not loose at the ankles. I highly recommend these boots (if they ever go on sale, I might get the brown ones too) and obviously, I recommend Zappos (but if you're reading this, you already know how awesome they are). 5 stars.

I was in search of a boot that has a wide toe box... I battle mortons neuroma and most boots and shoes are tight around the toe area.. When the toe box gets widened, shoes/boots can look a bit wonky and clown-like... Being that Birkenstocks in the summer are perfect for me, I went on a search in the brand and found these boots... not only are they wide in the toe box but they are a really good looking boot!

As a Birkenstock lover, winter is always a hard transition. Add in an auto-immune disease that makes every step painful in the wrong shoes and I was seriously dreading the next 4 months. A little research soon led me to these remarkable boots. Out of the box the felt a little big, but they took absolutely zero time to break in. I wear them as a teacher and am up on my feet for ten hours. These boots are a life saver. Thank you Birkenstocks! Although I about choked at the price, they are worth the investment! They do fit true to the sandal size, just a little roomy in the ankle, but will take it for the advantages of the comfort.

Love these boots! I got them yesterday via post and loved how they fit so had to wear them today. They are true to size, yet still easily fit my orthopedic insoles. I've walked about two miles in them today and they don't need any breaking in. They feel great, and will work well for casual wear as well as work attire. At the moment I am trying to refrain from purchasing a second pair in black... but will likely fail!

These are fantastic basic black boots, and they're leather lined! I have fuller calf and they were just too tight, otherwise would have kept, for sure! This is often a problem for me so I don't judge the boot.

I wanted to love these. All I want in life is to wear birkenstocks 24/7. I tried so many different clothing combinations to see if i could love these. But I can't. While the comfort is pretty good, the look is just terrible on me. They look like rainboots, not like something you might wear while dressed to go to dinner or something... and I wear birkenstocks (and haflingers) all the time, so its not like I'm THAT hard to please when it comes to looks. but I couldn't do it... These will, sadly, have to go back. The hunt for the elusive comfortable boot will go on... FWIW, my legs are probably pretty average size - Frye's are fairly tight on my calf, but I can get them on - but these had lots of extra room (and way too much extra room in the ankle, hence the rainboot look...)

I love these boots! They are lovely and comfortable, even with my bunions. I can remove the footbed and put in my orthotic inserts. They are suitable for spring & fall (30º+) in the sub zero winter wonderland I inhabit, but I am pleased to have something that looks so nice and works with my problem feet. Order your true size--I usually order up because of bunions & inserts but the wide Birki toe box fits true in my normal size. It is nice to have a comfortable shoe that makes my feet look small, not giant, even with an accomodating fit. Thank you Birkenstock and Zappos! I can tell that I will need to treat the leather around the toes regularly to keep it looking nice because I walk a lot but I think the work will be well worth it.

I LOVE these boots! When I first got them they were hard to get my heel into, but I persisted, and once inside, my feet were immediately comfortable. After breaking in they are even MORE comfortable! I have a wide foot with a high arch and they support my foot very well. The toe box is roomy and doesn't even bother my one hammer toe. They are stylish and I get compliments every time I wear them. They look as well made as my other Birks and I expect to wear them for a long time! I wish they came in more colors!

I absolutely love these boots! I am so glad that I spent the money and got them. I first tried Birk sandals in the spring and they saved my feet - no more foot pain! As the weather got colder I was wondering what I was going to wear especially to work where as a teacher I am on my feet all day. I find their clogs too ugly to wear (sorry Birks - maybe around the house) These boots are awesome - stylish and comfortable. The only comments I have are about fit. I have thin legs but these fit fine - not too snug or loose - but I could see this would be an issue for women with wide calves or ankles. Also I am petite and the boots come about 2" below my knee caps - tall women may find this an issue as well. There was no break in time and I am thinking of ordering the short boots as well!

Birkenstock sandals, shoes and now boots are the best! I was so excited to see them come out with boots! The first time I wore the boots (walking along the strip in Vegas) I was so pleased to see that they never bothered my feet at all! I've had trouble with plantar fasciitis and wear almost exclusively Birkenstocks. I've also ordered a pair of snow boots and the short brown boots!

I'm a pretty die-hard berks sandals fan, and always wear a size 39. So of course I just ordered a 39 without thinking. It's a boot guys! Order up at least a size or two! I ended up returning for a 42, and they're a little big, but not much. It should also be noted that if you have any kind of calves whatsoever, they might be kind of tight. Good quality boot, just really make sure you order the right size.

This boot is great for people with bunions! Birkenstock makes a wider toe which really helps with bunions or morton's neuroma. However, I found that the heel was rather loose on me which meant my toe slid forward and hit the end. One other slight disappointment was that the zipper seems pretty cheap for a $230 boot. It would likely be the first thing to break. Sadly, these boots are not for me even though the foot bed is super comfortable.

I've recently become a fan of Birkenstocks because I have flat feet and entering my 40's, I was beginning to get a bunion. I decided to start taking care of my feet, and my research led me to Birks. After wearing Birkenstocks through the summer, I was wishing for a boot this Fall that gave the same orthopedic support, and was excited to find these! In non-Birkenstock shoes, I wear an 8w or an 8.5m. In Birkenstock sandals, I order the 38, so that's what I ordered for these boots. The Birkenstock size chart says that a 38 is for people who wear a 7.5 size shoe. So, in my experience, Birkenstock sandals run a little big. After only one day of wearing, I can report that the foot part of the boot fits as expected, like a glove and plenty of room in the toe box with nice arch support, though perhaps less arch support than what I feel in my Arizonas. The calf is likewise snug fitting and has elastic to help to allow some "give". The ankle is super snug, and this gives me a little concern. I decided to keep this size and see if the leather, which seems like really great quality stuff, breaks in a little. I'll update my review after I've had the boots long enough to tell. In the meantime, if you are used to ordering a size lower than the Birkenstock size chart for the sandals, you might want to go a bit bigger than you normally do for the boots. I'm wearing regular socks with these and they are fine, but if you want some wiggle room, go one size bigger than you usually do in Birks unless you have narrow feet and tiny ankles. I may order the brown pair in a 39 to see if they work also. The nice thing about them fitting like a glove is that they look much sleeker than I expected. I wasn't sure I'd like the shape of them, but if you're a Birkenstock devotee, I think you'll love how they look and feel, provided you get the right size. The leather is very nice. Fingers crossed that the ankles will loosen up as I break them in. The arch supports are removable in these.

I love Birkenstocks, but I was very disappointed in this boot. I'm always a size 40 in Birks, and they are usually a little big in the sandals. But a 40 in these boots was too short. My toe hit the end of the boot, and the arch support was not in the right place. The leather was also wrinkled in places on the outside and lining of the boot, and the flange behind the zipper was crumpled and full of sticky glue. The leather was stiff and not soft. I don't know what boots the rest of the reviewers got, but I did not get the same quality. These were cheaply made and uncomfortable.

I have loved these boots and wear them almost every day in the winter. They have a nice, roomy toe box and good arch support and I can wear them all day (I work in a medical center and walk a LOT) and never feel a thing. I like their simple style because they go with everything. I can see what other reviewers are saying about them being roomy in the ankle or seeming rain boot esc, but not to a degree that keeps them from being cute and stylish. I dress business casual for work and wear these with everything (pants, dresses, skirts).

These are the first new boots I have been able to comfortably wear in two years of searching! I have problem feet with bunions and a Mortons neuroma on one foot, so I have been wearing orthotics in all my winter shoes for years and usually have to size up 1 full size to get enough width. I don't even need my orthotics in these--pain free even on the first day! I previously wore a pair Merrell Captiva boots but I think they're not making them any more. These fit better than the Captiva. Thank you, Birkenstock, for making a toe box that is wide enough for problem feet! I have tried on and sent back countless pairs of boots in my search for pain-free footwear. One downside: these boots have a very plain style and seem to scuff easily. But, on the other hand, they aren't super clunky and look just fine with leggings and casual dresses or skirts. I'm a teacher and am on my feet all day. I plan to wear these all winter long!

I first want to thank Zappos for such a wonderful service. I don't live near shoe stores where I would be able to try brands like Birkenstock. I ordered several brown boots, but after reading the reviews on this one, I couldn't agree more. These are so very comfortable! I have bunions on both feet, making them wider than average. These boots have plenty of room for my feet even with thicker socks, which is what I want to wear in the winter with boots. I wear a size 11, so I purchased 42 in these. The arch support is not Dansko-worthy, but I'm fine with that. Not everyone needs that level of support. I walked around shopping with friends for hours, and I have no comfort complaints. My calves are very large, so the boots are snug there, but not distractingly so. The style is very simple, but I have received compliments on them. I am considering buying black, as well.

Bought these for a wedding in Michigan the week before Christmas. Can't wear heels and needed something to wear with a nice black dress. Wore them through the airport. Other than a blister on my ankle they are great. Wore them in the snow and to the wedding and danced in them. Wore them to work. Great boots and good arch support.

These boots are well made and I was excited to get them. I wanted them to work for me so badly. But they just didn't. I have very narrow feet and even though the length was right, my foot was swimming in them.

I wear Birkenstocks all summer and love the arch support they provide. I was looking for a good boot with arch support for cold weather. The Farmingtons are perfect for that - cute, comfortable, good for walking.

Oh my goodness, I love this boot. Have worn it all day for several days and no aching feet. I want to order the boots in black.

I LOVE these boots! They are very comfortable and I wear them as often as possible. I bought my first Birkenstock flip flops this past summer and loved them, so when I found the boots I was happy and they did not disappoint. I have them in black and will more than likely purchase the brown. I've even dressed them up with the boot cuffs.

These boots aren't exactly slick and high style, but they are really comfortable, which is what I was going for. I need boots that I can move around in, go up and down stairs, and into which my orthotics can comfortably fit. I need room for my toes to move around. These boots can do all of those things, and look decent as well--just plain, black boots, without buckles or other embellishment, and nice leather. Bingo!

I find these boots to be perfectly comfortable. My cranky old feet require truly flat soles, good support, and plenty of toe room. The Farmington boot has all that. Maybe they look a little funky, but that suits me. The leather is thick but pliable, and there's no synthetic lining or insulation (which I didn't want). Please, Birkenstock, make more delicious flat uninsulated tallish boots! And if you wanted to make a wide-calf version, that would be cool, too. These are a little too narrow to wear with my jeans tucked in.
