These boots are true to their size. Arch is fabulous. I have never ever had a pair of boots feel so good. This is my first Birkenstock and will continue to buy.

This is an incredible boot. First, I would like to commend Zappos for their customer service approach that makes it possible to take the time to really make sure all are a great fit. I appreciate being able to have several styles and sizes to try with different socks and insolses. Shoes that feel like heaven in the store can irritate after time, and as I always pay more than a lot for shoes, I want to be sure. These boots have simple yet classy styling. The calf is not too wide for my narrow calf, there is a bit of a gap, but not a big one, and the elastic panel allows for a larger calf. What I like the most about this boot is there is no heel slip for me, whether I wear a thicker hicking sock or a thinner work sock. Love this boot!

I get tons of compliments on these boots. They are amazingly comfortable. We were late to a concert and I was even able to run a few blocks in them with zero problems. Birkenstocks are the only shoes I can wear all day and not have sore feet or back by the end of the day. This is true of these Birky boots.

I just received these boots -- I have not worn them yet because it's so warm in NY but just trying them on I can tell they are super comfortable and I have problem feet -- hallux rigidus on the left and hallus limitus on the right. These boots are very pretty and so comfortable - I really didn't know what I was going to do for boots this winter till I found these here at Zappos!

I ordered 3 different brands of boots to try and should have known these would be my favorite: comfort and quality like always from this old favorite company.

I love this boot. The leather is absolutely beautiful, the boot is obviously well made, and it has good arch support. I wear a 8.5, and the size 39 fit perfectly. I have a hard to fit foot, with high arch and high instep and wide C-D foot, and 14.5 inch calves. After trying several other boots that didn't quite fit, thank goodness I found this one by Birkenstock.

I wear a 39 in sandals, so I ordered a 39. Too small! Going to try a 40 since these are cute in person. They are very Camper-esque, but with a lot more support.

Love, love, love these boots! Birkenstocks are the only shoes my finicky feet can wear. Definitely worth the price.

After a stress fracture a few years ago the only shoe I can comfortably wear all day is a Birkenstock. So imagine my joy when I discovered this boot! I teach school in the Pacific NW and so this is a dream come true. They fit like a glove with the same comfort of my Birk sandals! I love how they look with skirts and jeans.

Love them. I wear Birkenstocks a lot and these are everything I would want in a Birk boot. They look really nice. I want brown too, wish they would go on sale.

I expected to love these, but didn't. The fit is great, super comfortable inside as Birkenstocks always are. The proportions seem off to me though - too narrow at the bottom and too wide at the top. Hard to explain, just didn't work for me. They might work better for you, though!

It is a beautiful well made boot but the Birkenstock support was just not there as I'm used to. Also, as someone else mentioned, it looks like a rain boot. I could deal with the look if it had the comfort of the Gizeh sandals.

The insole of this boot is odd -- it puts arch support anywhere but my arch. The calf circumference is also huge -- I don't have the narrowest of calves, and these are huge around the top on me. Had to return, but thankfully Zappos makes that easy!

I have easily 30 pairs of Birkenstock sandals. This is the first time I tried a shoe/boot. I wear a size 39 R universally in all of my others. I tried a 39 and it is just shy of fitting. The calf is also about 2 inches to narrow for my "athletic" calves. Sorry Zappos sending them back, but I still love you!

I really wish I could have made these work! I have metatarsalgia and Birkenstock sandals are the only shoes that are comfortable out of the box. Unfortunately, the footbed isn't quite the same on these (no toe bar, and there was a bit too much arch support for me). There's also a lot of room in the ankle, which makes them look like rain boots. I wear a 37 narrow in Birkenstock sandals (even though my US shoe size is between 7-7.5) and the 37 in these boots seemed to fit the same, with thin wool socks.

These boots are made with high quality materials and leather. I really loved them, however I am 5'4" and they are a bit too long, when I sat down the back of the tops hits my thighs. Also I have 8" ankles and 13.5" calves, causing a inch or more of gap between my legs and the boots. Really loved them and wish they could have worked out. I wear a size 9 in most boots, so ordered size 40, they were a bit big. Overall they felt like I was wearing big galoshes, blah. Sadly I am returning and still searching. Takes forever to search for "skinny" calf boots, zappos can you please help the search process by offering a skinny calf boot search on your site? I know you have the circumference thingy, but it's not necessarily an indicator. Sure would save loads of time in research and returns! As always, thank you for your excellent customer service!

Great Birkenstock comfort, but calf circumfrence was a little to big. I had measured and thought it would be okay, and it was at the top, but about an inch below top poofed out, unacceptably for me. Sorry had to send them back.

These feel mostly true to Birkendstock sizing, except a bit narrower in the forefront than their regular width sandals and clogs. However for me Birkenstocks run a full size larger than their size chart says (compared to the average American shoe). I normally wear a 10 in any other brand, but I wear a 40 in Birkenstock clogs and am between a 39 & 40 in their sandals (I have both). I got the boots in the 40 and the length is fine. I usually wear medium to thick socks. Because I have a very wide forefront and narrow heel, these slip in the heel a bit for me and I wish they were even wider in the forefront. That being said, they're better than most any other boot I've tried. Since Birkendstock came out in the 70's I've lived in their sandals and clogs, the only really comfortable shoes for me, so I was happy to find these boots. I tried a different sytle last year (don't see now)and thye were way too narrow, so these are much better. I wish Birkenstock woudl make the exact same shape as theirr regular-width sandals, and also more options with warm linings–please! I think the forefront will stretch but I'm undecided aobut the heel slippage (but that's often a problem for me unless things tie). I'm going to wear these around the house this evening and see how they feel. The leather seems very good quality but came with a few scuffs and marks so I suspect it's the type that does that easily. That doesn't bother me at all though. I love that they are totally flat. I'm average weight/height but don't have thin legs at all, but these fit fine around my leg over pants, with an inch or so to spare. They come 2" or so below my knees (I'm 5'5") The removable cork insole has moderate arch support (not quite as much as the sandals) and also metatarsal suport (which is great) but no toe bar. But again, way better than insoles on most shoes. Many thanks to Zappos for the best customer service on the planet!

I loved these boots. The leather was beautiful. They were incredibly comfortable. Sadly, the calf was way too tight. If Birkenstock ever makes a wide calf version, I'll definitely buy a pair.

This is my first Birkstenstock anything. I was looking for comfortable, flat leather boots and came across these. I am normally a size 7 and ordered a size 37 and 38. The size 37 fit snug and the 38 was on the loose side. I kept the 37 because the leather will stretch. I am able to zip these up over my jeans as well. I am a little concerned about the arch support, as it feels like a high bump, but overall the boots are comfortable, simple and very well made.

Loved the boots. Footbed is super comfortable....BUT...I couldn't get the top zipped over my calf! So sad!

The leather seems quality, and I like the simple look - smooth, no buckles or buttons, etc and a full side zip. Would prefer waterproof, but not a dealbreaker. Love that they are almost completely flat. Just about any other "flat" tall boot on the market seems to have a 1 inch heel, which doesn't sound like a lot, but for my problem feet, it is. I like how wide the foot is, but it also causes my foot to slide around a bit and the ankles are loose, which results in not enough support as I would like. The biggest problem I have with these boots is the sole of the shoe. It seems so flimsy and unsupportive for a $200+ boot, plus one bearing the name of Birkenstock. I'm guessing most of that cost is the leather itself, since the boot is not made in a cheaper country like China (it's made in Portugal while the footbed is made in Germany). The footbed itself is kind of awful for me. Really hard and not supportive in the right places. Usually Birkenstocks are the only shoes I can wear, but this footbed is not like the footbed of Birkenstock shoes and sandals. The footbed is removable so I can replace the footbed with my own orthotics at least, but the sole is still so flimsy it's like walking barefoot and not in a good way. I would pay $100+ more if this boot could be designed with a thicker sole to provide more support. But most people probably would not. :) I may keep them just because it seems nearly impossible for me to find a plain black tall leather boot that is completely flat and still looks even remotely stylish, but will have to return them if they continue to cause me foot pain just walking short distances around my house even with my own orthotics, which is what's currently happening. I see what other people mean about them looking a bit like a rain boot, but from the front, they look quite stylish on me. From the side they do look a bit big but still shaped more nicely than other similar boots . I'm relatively thin and petite so have not so big calves, but I wear a 39 boot which could be why the calf is loose on me.

A little lacking in support for foot. Liked the roomy toe box, though.

I live in Birkenstock sandals during the warm months. It's the only shoe that provides the arch support my plantar fasciitis desires. I wanted the same foot bed as the sandals but was disappointed. The foot bed isn't near as supportive. There is plenty of room however for orthotics which is why I kept them. The leather is very sturdy and construction good quality.

I really wanted to keep these boots. The foot part felt great, but the calves were too tight. I had trouble zipping with just tights on. No way I could wear with leggings or jeans.
