I purchased the large size command messenger bag. However, the product details are not entirely correct. The bag I received did not come with any bag silencers of any sort. Additionally, the website does not make clear the large size bag only has two of the napoleon pockets NOT three.
Other than that, the bag is high quality, seems durable, and meets my needs. Would purchase again.

This bag is stiff and hard compared to the others I have had that were soft to the touch. I bought this for a Xmas gift and thought even though it was a final sale it didn't matter but when I got the bag the material was so hard and tough that I wouldn't use it never mind give it to anyone as a gift. After contacting customer service and telling them the other messenger bag I got was great but this one wasn't and I would like to exchange it they said no it is a final sale. Not what I would expect from a company like this. On their website it should list the material each bag is made out of...I ordered them based on the reputation not knowing how different the materials are.

Love this bag -- it is perfect for our events and we use it to great delight with everyone we give it to. Why are you discontinuing it? And what's your next closest alternative?

So far I like the bag and appreciate the functionality. I'll see how it works for me long term as I am used to my Timbuk backpack and looking forward to the switch.

I had my first bag for about 7 years. I ordered a new one only because I wanted something fresh, not because it was falling apart or there was anything wrong with it; these bags are built to last. The Command Bag adds new pockets and clasps, plus a great updated design.

This is my 3rd Timbuk2 bag. I used my last one for 8 years!!! Being an NYC commuter, my standards on bags are super high. This bag is beautifully constructed! They Napoleon pockets provide quick access to those items you need most. I always recommend Timbuk2 whenever the topic of laptop bags comes up!

I love this bag. It obviously was designed by someone who read my mind. It has multiple zippered pockets for cell phones , cord ,keys etc.... The laptop and tablet are accessible without opening the bag. The Velcro strips have silencers, which is a godsend to my fellow sleepy commuters. All in all a amazing bag. This is my 3rd bag from Timbuk2. Very, very, pleased.

Really like the bag and all of its features- some where a surprise as they had not been mentioned in the description. One of the best features to me was color of interior of bag(red) which I only found from reading other reviews.Quality is impressive and I expect to get many years of use from it.

I've been using a free Dreamforce conference backpack for 5 years. It is looking pretty ragged, but still very functional. After enough comments, I decided to buy this bag, seeing it a discount. I wish I wouldn't have. Even at nearly half price, it is still too expensive for what you get. My Dreamforce bag is more functional with the storage organization. I used it the first time to go into the office. No convenient place to put my glasses without getting scratched. No place to put a few paperclips, eyedrops, etc. These things go into larger pockets with everything else.
Not well thought out at all. This is my first Timbuk2 purchase. I can't see me buying another product from this company.

I was looking for a versatile bag that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg to buy. I found that that in the Command Messenger Bag. I love the look, the feel, and it has more than enough pockets to carry all the things I need.

This is such a smart-looking and smartly-designed bag! All of the gadgets work as advertised. The Napoleon pocket on the "rear" edge could be a bit roomier (and with a larger opening), but perhaps I just need to rearrange my bits. IMHO, this strikes the perfect balance between relevant and professional for a doctorate-level professor (in her mid-50s) in So Cal. I'm a fan! I'd be a SUPER-fan if Timbuk2 would sell me some of those aluminum clip thingies so I can modify my fishing vest... :)

I travel for work, and this bag is definitely a step up from my classic messenger that I used for years. First, I love the exterior laptop access and silencers it makes entering meetings much less distracting. I also love the look of the Midway bag, and hope they bring it back in future designs. It has plenty of space and pickets for just about everything. The only downsides are that the flip out laptop pocket is outdated and useless if you have precheck. I had to cover the zippers because they were distractingly jangley. And I miss the zippered key pocket that my classic messenger has. In the next iteration, it would be great to see an integrated cord organizer.

So I'm a bag guy, and having something that fits my needs and looks nice is important. I've been looking for the right bag for a long time and finally landed on this one. Good compartments, we'll made, big enough without being too big. It's a solid bag with all the accessories needed for a working human who also travels.

I purchased my first command messenger bag in 2013 and loved it. I have used this bag every day and it has served me well carrying my laptop and work to my office and on dozens of trips each year across the country. Finally after seven years of faithful service, my bag started breaking down. Seams came apart and buckles broke so I decided it was time to purchase a new one.
The new commander bag I purchased is considerably less impressive than my first one. My biggest concern is the decrease in the number of pockets. As something I use as a mobile office, I learned to depend on the organizational capacity of my messenger bag. As I started transferring the contents from the old bag to the new, I quickly discovered all the front pockets were gone as well as the bottom pocket I used to store my phone and computer cords. Now I have had to jam all of my cords, adapters, sticky notes, note pads, etc into two big pockets on the inside of the bag. Not only does this make me less organized, it makes it more of a hassle to access them. I especially liked the outside pocket of my old bag with the velcro bottom that could be opened to slide over a carry-on. Furthermore, the laptop compartment was more breathable and lined with a soft felt and a grippy material that I felt protected my laptop better.
If I had known there were so many changes to cut costs I never would have spent the money on this bag.

I am 53 years old and have been through all the phases of brief cases, backpacks, high-end Tumi leather bags - You name it! I previously had tried a Tumi messenger bag. The lack of accessible outside pockets and difficult buckles made it a pain to use, but I liked the form factor.
I did a good deal of research and came across the Command Messenger. I commute and walk a good deal in the city and also travel quite a bit. This bag is deceptively big, holding lots of stuff (as much as my big Tumi Safe Case). Yet, it is super light (even carrying my Lenovo X1 Extreme with a big power block).
I really like the styling. I got the black bag with red strap and accents, which helps me not forget it... I especially like the red interior liner, that helps me more clearly see my things.
This is a great messenger and I am extremely pleased with the purchase!

The bag is really well designed -- the makers have thought of everything to make it easy to use, and convenient in all respects. My only one somewhat negative comment is that the buckle on the shoulder strap -- I'm referring to the clasp that you use when you want to extend or shorten the length of the strap -- will not stay "down" (i.e. flush with the strap). It always bounces back up to a 45 degree position for some reason. This, however, is a very minor point -- I'm extremely pleased with all other aspects of the bag itself, most importantly with the fact that there are so many well-considered features that make it convenient and easy to use.

I purchased this for my new laptop that is 15 inches wide. Snug fit but will work. Plenty of room for cables and second laptop or tablet. The front hooks takes some time to get used to, but the fabric and construction seem solid. Look forward to many years of service.

This is my work bag. It is with me where ever I go. Durability and plenty of space are its main points. This is the second messenger bag from TIMBUK2 I've owned. I will not purchase any other bag.

I LOVE this bag. I got it for the purpose of taking my laptop and other things back and forth to work. My only "dislike" at this point is I wish I could have gotten it in a bigger size. I love all of the pockets and areas to put things, but if you put too much into the bag it is difficult to access everything. It is very easy to carry and the durability is a sure plus. I would highly recommend this bag.

I had a messenger bag with the plastic buckles that was very hard for me to unclasp because my thumbs are very arthritic. I loved that bag, but had to stop using it.
When I found this bag.....I was so excited!! When I got it, it was perfect, no pain and looks great!

Absolutely perfect for flying warrior like myself. It's light, holds lot of stuff, and great for travel. Would love if there's a little more padding on the computer compartment, but it's really awesome.

This is my first Timbuk2 bag and is all I ever thought it would be. Perfect size, material, confort, weight. It holds my MacBook Pro and iPad Pro perfectly and there is so much room left. I definitely will get other products from this company.

Just received my bag. It appears to be of solid construction and has excellent, easy to use pockets and compartments. It's a little bigger bag than I originally anticipated for a "medium" sized bag, but other than that I think it will be great!
