I use this bag every day for my commute -- it's light weight and easy to get into. It has enough pockets and space to keep emergency items like an umbrella, multiple currency adapters, and extra supplies without taking critical space away from the daily purpose. Great bag! Best computer bag I've ever had.

I love the easy access to my computer and iPad. The interior compartment has plenty of room to keep your things organized. The zipper pockets are great for the small things.

I use this for my Laptop, Ipad, kindle, sunglasses pencil case, note books and knicknacks. Roomy and well padded for my laptop. Sufficient pockets for my travel stuff too. I can't seem to think of anything that isn't great about it at this time. I love the straps and the closures for the front of the bag.

I debated a long time on whether to upgrade from my previous Timbuk2 bag which was almost 10 years old. Finally I took a gamble bought this new bag and I couldn't be more pleased. This bag has a compartment for everything I need, it holds all my stuff without getting bulky. I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Timbuk2! - Thomas

I use this bag for commuting to work and holding things I need to get my job done. On occasion I use it for personal trips if needed. So far it's held up well. TSA is fine with not taking the laptop out with this bag's clam shell design. It fits the bill nicely, the compartments are large but could probably have a few more organizational bits in them. Pen holders are large loops but will hold two pens side by side. Should strap is comfortable with ample padding and can be switched up if you are a righty or leftie. The Velcro "silence" straps that can be used to hold the top closed even more securely have no real home when they aren't attached to the Velcro which make it a little odd when pulling things in and out. But I find leaving them as they are and using the loops and metal hooks works just fine. Straps are anti-twist, they can rotate to accommodate movement so you're not constantly adjusting the strap when putting the bag on. I've had other messenger bags but this one was definitely worth the extra cost.

Sounds simple but the video showed the bag really as it is. I was therefore not a bit disappointed when I received it.

I used this bag as a carry on to Istanbul and for a quick side trip to Beirut. Enough room for a change of clothes, ipad, a book, a camera with 2 lenses, and the small stuff. I especially like the zippered side pockets (for a passport, wallet, and phone) and that the velco can be "turned off" which keeps it quiet on a plane.

Until this purchase, I had used the previous model of the nylon Commander Series Messenger bag and decided to go for a more refined look and had no doubt that this new version of the Command bag would meet my needs. My previous bag was the large size and by all accounts, it is cavernous; but I decided that it allowed me to stuff far too many things into the bag and was actually a drawback. The bag lasted for several years and is still in fantastic condition, has no torn seems, problems with zippers, or any other areas of concern. A very well made bag, that has lasted as expected, but it was time for an upgrade! The new, medium size version off this bag allows me to comfortable carry my leather folio in the main compartment while also carrying my 13" MacBook Pro, protected in a Herschel Sleeve, my iPad Mini (Also in a Herschel Sleeve), full size headphones, my iPhone, and along with its various slots, zippered pockets and organizer, accommodates a small notebook, usb flash drives, pens, pencils and a few other items as necessary. More than enough room for whatever I usually carry, plus a little extra. A great start! The new version of the bag is really quite an advancement over the previous version. I particularly like the straps that allow you to seal the velcro allowing you to open the bag silently without the "tearing" sound. A big plus in quiet environments. I am especially pleased with the new pocket placement on the Command Messenger bag. You can access your laptop without opening the bag, and I like to keep my iPad in the front horizontal, zippered compartment, which again, allows for easy access without the need to open the flap. The problem with the previous version of the bag was the zippered compartment on the bottom of the bag where most might carry peripheral chargers. Not a huge drawback in and of itself, however, I do believe that it did increase the wear and tear on the charger or any items you might keep in that compartment. When you stored items in this bottom pocket, it would also not allow the bag to sit upright. Not something you might associate with a messenger bag, but with the new design, the pocket has been moved to a vertical, zippered compartment on the left side of the bag, which is easily accessible without opening the flap. By eliminating the bottom compartment, the new version of the bag can actually be set in an upright position much more like a traditional briefcase, which is convenient when you need to set the bag down for a moment. Combine this with the newly improved version of the grab handle, the bag remains in easy reach without having to bend all the way over to the floor. A plus when you are 6'3". The flap is now secured with two attractive hoop and loop enclosures that securely close the messenger bag. With a little practice, they are easily opened and closed with one hand, allowing you to access the main compartment while wearing the bag and on the go. Because it has several loops (4 on each side), it will allow you to securely adjust the flap of your bag, allowing for more or less items to be securely stored. The strap is the perfect length and along with the ability to adjust it on two sides makes it supremely easy to adjust. The messenger bag is comfortable to wear, and because of it's medium size, I have found that I more carefully consider what to place inside, tending not to overload it. I have not doubt however, that with the quality construction, this bag can handle anything I throw its way. The addition of the chest strap adds to a much more secure fit, allowing for the bag to remain in place no matter the activity. Since I tend not to carry this bag while riding a bike or climbing mountains, I have chosen to leave the additional chest strap off and just store it in the bag. I purchased the "Turf" Polyester bag which has a very nice texture and works well in any environment. Trimmed in an attractive brown, the bag will pair well with any outfit, from casual to a more refined look. The bag retains many of the convenient "Commander" elements which allow you to unzip the computer compartment from the main compartment of the bag allowing the bag to be laid flat for security screenings at the airport. Combine that feature with the ability to place my iPad Mini in the front zippered compartment, it's a breeze to get through any screening without having to remove any of my electronics. All of the usual intuitive features combine to make this bag extremely convenient and efficient which helps me wrangle my kids through any airport scene! Let's face it, a bag is a bag and is usually individual specific. Some folks like to carry fancy briefcases, others only wear backpacks, and still more may carry a combination of bags. I love the look, convenience, and features of the Timbuk 2 Command Messenger Bag making it an excellent choice for those looking for an all-in-one, get the job done solution! It is a well made, high quality bag that will offer years of faithful service!

Command TSA-Friendly Messenger Bag 2015 (Small, Dusk Blue/Black_4090, Nylon)_ I spent about 3 months looking for a replacement for a well-worn and well-loved Lands' End Classic Briefcase. Based upon online reviews, the Lands' End briefcase had been changed, and not for the better. Additonally, I needed something that could also provide protection for an laptop and tablet. After searching the web I came across the Timbuk2 Command TSA-Friendly Messenger Bag. I wanted a bag that was about the same size as the Classic Brief I had been using; could be used exclusively used as a briefcase, but could also accomodate an iPad Air 2 and MacBook Air if necessary. The Command Messenger does all this and more. To begin, the Command Messenger is a great looking briefcase/messenger bag. Because it is more rectangular rather than rhomboid, it doesn't have a bike messenger look. There is nothing wrong with that look, but I wanted something that looked a bit more professional. I also wanted a bag that didn't look like a laptop bag, since I would be always be using it for that purpose. Here again the this Timbuk2 bag fit the bill. I primarily use the Command Messenger to carry my lecture materials to and from class. Since I rely on my iPad Air 2 for my lectures notes and textbooks, I didn't need a large amount of room in the main bag. Still, the side laptop and iPad pocket provides more than enough protected space for my devices, so when I do want to carry more in the main section, I can. The main compartment is large enough for me to carry a couple of landscape notepads, a few file folders, and one or two small books. There is also pockets for charger cables, pens/pencils, cell phone back-up batteries etc. The build quality of the Command Messenger is exceptional. After almost six months of constant use (including conference travel) the bag looks brand new. I know that is not a long period of time, but I am also pretty rough on bags. In conclusion, this is the best briefcase I have ever owned. If you have been searching for a replacement for a Lands' End type bag you needn't look any further. I cannot recommend Command Messenger highly enough.

I am a research scientist who travels commutes everywhere by either biking or walking and travels often for work and (sometimes) pleasure. I needed a bag I could take to conferences, class, lab and on airplanes. This bag fulfills all those qualities. I choose the medium-sized gray with brown trim; it is manages to look professional and trendy at the same time. I can fit my 5-year old MacBook Pro, power strip, large folders full of papers, a cardigan for my highly air conditioned lab and still have room to store some extra life goodies. It won't fit as much as a large backpack, so if you are planning on taking your whole life with you, get one of those. Or a larger-size version of this bag. It sits comfortably on my shoulder when walking long distances or biking. It sits up almost upright when placing it on the ground. I took it on a flight and used the zipper to lay it flat while it went through the x-ray and loved that I did not have to remove my laptop for the first time in my life. All in all, I love this bag and will get another when this finally wears out.

TSA Compliant, never had to take it out of the pouch, just uzip and lay the laptop compartment flat. Lots of compliments on the look, and functionality at the airport and during travel. Would have preferred either a longer pocket on the front flap, or a zip pocket on the other side. Fits your phone perfectly, but not much else. Additional zip pocket on the other end would have worked great for quick access battery bank.

I bought this bag for my husband. He works in IT and cycles to work everyday. He also travels quite a bit for work. His old messenger bag was beat up and quite frankly not very attractive. He just started his own business and meets with clients and partners, so I thought he could do with an upgrade. He hadn't mentioned he wanted or needed a new bag but when he opened the gift he was very happy. I showed him the video of all the great features and he was excited to use it as soon as possible. He particularly likes that it has a structured body (his old bag was floppy) and the TSA feature (we have yet to test it, hopefully the TSA staff are ok with him not taking the computer out of the bag). He loves all the pockets and compartments and can fit everything he needs. I have found myself looking at the website to see what I can get for myself! One other thing, we live in London and the bag arrived in great time. Plus it was on sale, so I couldn't go wrong. Great bag!!

I commute from Colorado to California every week - Monday to Thursday - so it is really important to keep track of both sets of car keys, badges, phone, chargers, etc. All of the compartments are great...it makes it SO much easier to know where everything is - and I especially love the compartments that you can reach on the sides - perfect for holding my phone, ID without having to open up the flap or dig through one of the bigger pockets! The quality seems great, so far (I've had it about one month) and I certainly use it to it's capacity! Thanks Timbuk2!

Bought this bag as a Christmas gift for my husband, and he LOVES it. He's used it now for about 2 months, and is very impressed with the durability and organization it provides. He is a professional who likes to look nice but not fancy, and almost always carries his computer along with at least one book. We have been very satisfied with Timbuk2 products and will certainly purchase from them again in the future.
