I love these sneakers as does my 6 year old son. However, as others have posted they DON'T hold up. Started wearing them in September, by December the straps started to tear away from the velcro, in January the velcro wasn't holding as well, and by February the strip of material over the velcro is literally just flapping around. They are always loose because the velcro doesn't hold as well anymore. $40 for shoes that are only functional for 3-5 months is quite disappointing. The shoe itself has more life, but I have to throw them out. Cute shoes, but they just don't last. I would expect better from Vans. He's had Walmart shoes hold up way longer.

I bought these for my 4yr old son. Vans fit his wide feet well and these were his second pair. I don’t recommend using these as everyday play shoes. He wore these to preschool and they have 3 recesses (weather permitting). These shoes did not hold up well. The Velcro got gross, the straps started fraying after a month and the soul started ripping away. Super comfy but won’t last long.

This is my son's favorite pair of sneakers, but we are on our 3rd pair due to velcro coming off the strap. Same issue both times. Luckily Zappos has great customer service!

Great style. Very stiff build making it difficult for my 5yr old to get into and to close Velcro. I’m hoping they will soften up.

My son begged me for a pair of Vans, so I gave in and purchased a pair. I should've followed my first mind. Although the shoes are stylish and comfortable, they are poor quality. My son got 3 good wears out of them, and they look like he's been wearing them for years. Money wasted!

Super cute shoes but they run wide. My son constantly had to re-fasten the velcro, pulling it over all the way to make the shoe snug. He doesn't have a narrow nor small foot. Wishing they weren't so odd fitting for him because they really are adorable and go w everything.

I love the way these look but our five year old isn't too excited to wear them they're stiff and need some serious breaking in. Not hard for an adult but try explaining that to an impatient five year old! They also seem to be a little narrow or maybe the Velcro closures are a little short. When he has them on, the Velcro closures stop right about the top of his foot when they're fastened. Hopefully once they do get broken in, he'll start to like wearing them. Right now asking him to wear them is like asking him to eat broccoli.

My five year old loves the style, but stopped wearing them after the first few days. The tongue of the shoe slides to one side badly during wear. That must have been uncomfortable, because he would not wear them. I sewed a single stitch with matching thread to attach the tongue to the side of the shoe near the lower Velcro strap. Now the tongue stays perfectly in place while he runs and plays and he is wearing them again.

My 7 year old son loves to scooter. He's had these Vans for about 3 weeks and they're falling apart. He loves them, but they're not very sturdy.

These shoes are so classic and cute...BUT, the quality is not what I would expect from Vans brand. The velcro closures seemed too long and started to come apart quite quickly. We were pretty disappointed and the shoes are practically unwearable now. I won't buy these again.
