First, they are beautiful boots! I wear an 8.5 or 9 and ordered a 9. They were snug in the calf and snug at the baby toe and I wasn't sure they'd loosen up at the toe. I am sad to return them.

I am petite (5'0" with size 5.5-6 feet) with relatively thin calves so i was hopeful given the reviews that the shaft is on the narrower side. However, I usually have a cobbler take in boots- so these had a seam/zipper which woudl allow for that and the ankle was not too bunchy. The leather is beautiful but stiff and came right up to just under my knee. These are nice boots and i would have kept and had fitted by a cobbler, however the color just wasn't what i wanted. I was looking for more of a cordovan and the redwood was more of a rich brown with no red.

These are beautiful boots. The leather is of great quality and the styling is classic and simple. As others have said, however, they are very stiff and they are very tight at the top of the calf. I am hoping that this means that they will keep their shape and not slouch at the ankle. I think that I am going to keep them and just hope that they soften up at little once they are broken in.

The shaft was super tight and I do not have wide calves. The toe area is also more pointy than round so you probably don't want to use very thick socks. Had to return because the shaft was narrow and uncomfortable.

These boots are beautiful but they do run small. Order half size up.

The sole is so slippery that I'm afraid I'm going to fall to my death. The leather is also very stiff. I agree with one of the other reviewers that it makes your knees look not very straight. returning.

Beautiful boots but very stiff. I cant imagine wearing them for couple of hours.

I wanted to like these boots. Tried black and mahogany. The mahogany color is beautiful. I normally wear a 8.5. In this shoe, I could not get it over my heel. (I have very average heels and thin ankles.) Anyway. in my quest to obtain the perfect boot- I ordered the next 2 sizes up, 9 and 9.5. 9 was ok- just very stiff and rubbed my ankles as I walked- enough to have caused blisters with prolonged wear. I tried the 9.5 with a heavy duty wool sock and was happy to find that I could get the shoe on and off with out much struggle. However, sizing up a full size did not relieve the pressure spots around my ankles as I walked. As some other reviews mentioned (and why I was surprised they continued to rub in a larger size) the ankles look kinda loose and sloppy from the outside. Plus my heels sloshed around in the larger size. So, as much as the color was beautiful and the style looked so promising....The fit was just not right. Thanks Zappos for letting me try all three pairs!

Love the look of these boots but when zipping them up, it was too tight on my calves. I have skinny legs and was shocked that they wouldn't fit. I've never had this problem before so I would be worried they don't fit for most.

These are beautiful boots, but they just did not work out for me. They weren't as tall as I'd hoped, and the shafts were very stiff and a bit wide. I also didn't think they would be comfortable for very long. Back they went.

I wanted to love these but unfortunately, the sides of both boots dug into my lateral malleolus and was too uncomfortable. I have to return these.

I wore these for two hours to attend a Christmas concert. The leather scratched all over and the ankles were buckling right into my anklebone for no reason. Sadly I am going to have to return even though they are beautiful boots. The amount of wear that the boot showed after just two hours of sitting in them did not seem normal.

I couldn't even get these on my feet in my regular size, so I have no idea how they feel. I felt like Cinderella's stepsister.

The thrill of opening a box of Frye boots with the smell and the beauty is ... AMAZING. Only to have these boots make my calf feel like it's being strangled!!! Not sure if this is a defect of this particular style/pair....??? But Frye really missed the mark on making these only fit about 2% of women with stick legs! I've never had any issues fitting my calves into regular boots....never needed wide calf....ever. had to return and go back to the drawing board. Thanks zappos for your awesome customer service and ease to return.

Continue to be disappointed by Frye! I keep wanting to love their boots because they look great in pictures. These pair look good in person too with nice leather and classic minimalist styling. But they don't fit! I ordered half size bigger than dress shoe size but barely can wear socks with these boots. The calf part is so tight and cannot zip up all the way with leggings. Imagine skinny jeans? Frye has been very inconsistent in their sizing. I ordered a similar Frye style in the same size which is mush looser than these pair. But neither has zippers would zip smoothly. Bottoms have no traction and are super slick. Both have to go back. I am giving up on Frye now...

I have purchased Frye’s before. These boots are super narrow in the foot and very uncomfortable. There’s a reason why they are less expensive then your typical tall Frye boots. I would not recommend these boots at all. I put them on for just a few minutes, and they hurt!

Hard to get your foot into the boot because the leather is so stiff. Beautifully made, but large at top of calf. The circumstances of this boot in the description is not accurate.

Hell No. Do not buy these boots--you'll just have to send them back. (I don't know why people are giving good reviews to boots that so many have to send back!) The boots that were sent to me had been damaged by someone trying to (obviously unsuccessfully) shove a too large hoof into the boots. The back was all broken down on the right boot, and somewhat on the left one. Decided to try them on (plan was to order another pair if they fit), and I could not even get my foot into the boot (note: I own 3 other pairs of Frye boots--no similar problems with them). The vamp is so shallow that (unless you have collapsed arches and flat feet) you likely won't be able to wear them. Save yourself the hassle and order something else.

This feels like putting wood on your feet. Extremely tight and uncomfortable and hard to slide your foot in. Very stiff. This is going back.

Boot looked great but was unable to get it on. I don't have high arches but I just couldn't pull them on & didn't want to risk damaging them. Returned unfortunately.

I love the boots. The style and knee length is great. The only thing is that the leather is very tuff so they will need some breaking in. For the first wear there very uncomfortable. I would advise that you wear them at home or bring extra shoes when wearing them for the first time.

These boots are great! As with any leather boot you do need to wear them in a bit. They are absolutely stunning. The color detail, the quality, all of It. Will definitely continue to buy with this brand.

Great boots in exactly the style I was looking for. I had to size up one full size for them to fit comfortably.
