These boots are gorgeous. Styling is perfect and the leather is lovely and soft. Unfortunately the quality of the heel is very, very cheap. This is not a stacked wooden heel, just a plastic one with a faux covering. After the FIRST wear the inside corners on both feet were torn and peeling from sitting on a bistro chair and hooking my feet on the rung. I am so disappointed and will have to take these to a cobbler to see if they can be re-heeled with better quality stuff. Not what I would expect for a expensive boot.

Just like the other reviewer said, I had worn these booties once, maybe twice before the inside corners of the stacked heel started to bust. I was so pleased with every other aspect of these booties, and always expect a high quality from the Cole Haan brand. So it was a huge disappointment to have this happen. I will also be seeking out a cobbler to try and fix this problem.

These would be the perfect bootie, they come so close. But that heel! Good god, it's embarrassing. After one wear the plastic was showing. Yes, you read that correctly, plastic. This is not stacked wood. The uppers are great. Beautiful even. The heel makes them unwearable though. This was my first and will be my last Cole Haan purchase. I knew I should have gone with the Madewell booties. Never again Cole Haan, never!

I love these boots. I have been looking for the perfect black leather ankle booties for about three years, constantly buying and returning things, or ogling items online for days/weeks only to find them sold out of my size. The latter scenario is exactly what happened with these holy grail of booties, until Zappos emailed me exactly 36 hours after I added my email and size request to their out of stock update list. 24 hours after that these little beauties showed up, and I have been a happy, dapper lady ever since. Practically: I have not experienced the same heel disintegration issue a previous user review. They seem to be about the same sturdiness and fine make of previously purchased Cole Haan boots (though I do doubt they are wood, like older Cole Haan boots that I have owned). In fit: one of my feet is slightly wider than the other, and I have felt a slight pinch around the top of that foot after wearing the boots for a full day, which would make me think those with wide feet should avoid these.

This bootie surprised me with the softness of the leather -- especially because I also ordered a pair of low wedges from Cole Haan and the leather was not at all soft on those. I have a slightly wide foot and sometimes I prefer a wide in Cole Haan (sometimes not), but these were amply wide for comfort.

This is an amazing bootie! I ordered the size so it would be a little big on me so I could wear socks. It's surprisingly comfy shoe and was able to walk through a couple of airports at ease. A great grab and go bootie to dress up any occasion. Winner all around!

Very cute and versatile bootie. Only boots I could find to fit under barely boot jeans. Love the lighter sole/heel and black leather combo. Agree with the other reviews that the heel construction is surprisingly cheap for the brand, but haven't had problems with peeling as others have noted. From a normal viewing distance, I think the heel still looks nice. Zappos price made it worth it.

Love the british tan color. They looked boring & basic on, much nicer off. The heel wasn't very attractive & look best in the british tan color. All of the other colors made the heel look cheap. As with most Cole Haan shoes, the toe box is narrow.

These shoes didn't have the typical Cole Haan quality that I was hoping for. The leather is a bit too plastic-like.

Very chic and understated. However, after a month of light wear (I live in a city, so it's all on flat, even pavement), the soles began to peel right off the toes. They appear to be sewn on, but are actually just cheaply glued with cosmetic stitching on the edges that doesn't actually hold on the leather. Fast forward six months, after wearing them about a dozen times, the soles are almost completely separated from the boot and they are unwearable. Incredibly disappointed in the quality of these shoes. Cole Haan used to be a high quality brand, but apparently have kept the high prices and ditched the quality. I'd recommend biting the bullet and spending the extra $100 to get Frye boots, which will last you more than a few wears.

Fit is perfect for my medium width size 11 foot. I get a compliment every time I wear these booties. I can step into them without bending or using my hands because the leather around the ankle does not collapse. The heel is beautiful and does not have the unfortunate wear or construction problem mentioned by another shopper. I love these shoes. They were comfortable right out of the box. I have been searching for the same bootie in British tan....no luck. I have one other pair of Cole Haan boots. I love them, too. See photo the photo makes them look squattie, but these are elegant, narrow calf knee high boots that are super soft and comfortable

Fantastic bootie - great style, perfect heel height, wonderful leather and very comfortable overall. As with most Cole Haan's I've tried they run just a tad small. While the leather will likely adjust I've just ordered an 8 to compare before I settle on the 7.5s.

This is the second pair of these boots I’ve purchased - they’re so versatile and comfortable.

Really stylish shoes. The first time I wore them they did not ruin my feet! They may need a little breaking in to be as comfortable as most Cole haan’s are but first time wearing them was not bad. Overall I love them and can’t wait to wear them more. I think they’ll only get better! Heel height is perfect.

When I put the boots on after removing all the paper "stuffing" filling the toes and heels of the boots, I was so so disappointed! They were way too narrow and, as I walked, they pinched the base of my toes. They were so unlike other Cole Haan shoes that I own. As I was removing them, I noticed something black up against the leather....It was a large plastic packing insert which needed to be removed! What a difference! The boots fit perfectly. I do hope others haven't had this same experience which might cause them to return the boots if they didn't notice the additional extra piece inside. The boots are beautiful. Such a classic look!

I normally wear a 7 1/2 but I went up a half size b/c they are a little narrow. They are comfortable

These boots are gorgeous and they are extremely comfortable I would recommend buying them if your debating trust that you will not regret it. I did but it a half size up cause I’m always concerned about sizing with boots.

These boots fit me like a glove. I took them out of the box and wore them 3 days straight in NYC. I have terrible feet and these were amazing. Highly recommend for fit, quality and style. The heel is comfortable and the style looked great with skinny jeans.

Two years ago I purchased this same shoe in gray suede. I love them, I do not know what others where referring to about the heal issue, but after 2 years I have no issue. Therefore I was thrilled to find these in black. I can wear these shoes all day, example shopping, and no discomfort.
