I much prefer the old 813 design (circa 2013) with the breathable upper and different lace-up design. It was lighter, and much cooler.

Not what I expected. Size too long and not made in America. I've always bought the same size with no problem with made in America styles...

2nd pair ive ordered online. First pair had side blowout and tear away from sole. Just tried on 2nd pair and they do not fit properly. Sending them back. Will try one more time then going to a different shoe. Come on NB get it right! My podiatrist highly recommended this brand and frankly im disappointed!

Normally wear a 7.5 but needed an 8 in these. On the feet and then off in a short time, found them uncomfortable from the first step to the last. Too much of a drop (rock), too stiff.

Overall I was disappointed as compared to the MW577 and would have returned them if I had not worn them to truly determine if they would work. My last several pairs have been the MW577 Hook and Loop. I bought these because they have a better sole and heel design with a more aggressive tread pattern for road walking. As has been reported in other reviews, the width is sloppy and larger than expected. I'd suggest trying one width narrower than your last pair even if they were a little tight. As designed with elastic suspended straps, it is not a true "walker" and is more of a house shoe - like a pair of loafers. The main problems I found were the sloppy heel pocket (too wide allowing later movement) fat middles that can't be pulled tight, allowing the foot to slide forward, and the straps that include an elastic section that prevents proper tightening for exercise walking or even general walking at work. Pluses? The excess strap can be trimmed. The wider toe box allows for freedom of the toes. Overall constriction is great and the lasts were stitched well. Required no break-in for me and the heel has more shock absorption and rebound than the MW577. Sole tread design is aggressive enough for wet roads or thin slush, where the MW577s would slip. And, because the sides of the siping (the smaller grooves) is slanted, they do not tend to pick up stones like the MW577.

I have worn your MW577/4 E size 16 BLACK walking shoe with hook and strap for many years and wanted a shoe in brown and ordered mw813/4E brown shoe. I find the width of this shoe is much wider and uncomfortably so. What do you suggest i do?

I don't know why but these hurt my feet really bad. I should have ordered the ones I usually order that are a bit more expensive.

disappointed. i have been buying these particular shoes for years, but this time they started falling apart before the shoe even looks slightly worn. bought a year ago but kept them in the closet until needed so don't think we can send them back.
I'd also recommend:

I wear NB 8xx velcro walking shoes with my ankle-foot orthotics (AFOs). No problem with 811s; have had these for over 3 years and they are finally deteriorating. The replacement 813 is a completely different shoe. While it looks like it is roomy, with a large toe box, they hurt my feet in several places and are unsatisfactory. I had to go up 1 size and 1 width just to make them semi-work and they still hurt. I wish NB would go back to the 811 last.

I'm on my feet 8+ hours and my heels hurt so bad that i had to purchase a pair of doctor Scholl gel foot insole. I spent a lot of money for these shoes to not give the comfort they promised.

Overall is OK. But the weakest thing is the sole (grey on white boots). Wearing every day from June till December 2016 and having 3 miles per day removes sole along the edges at rear part. Manner of walking and asphalt kills the sole. I had to glued additional new sole by shoemaker.

I have many NB shoes. I like them a lot. But NB is constantly deleting #'s. So 1 cant just buy the same shoe again. Oldie but goodys. I was trying to get the "ride" of my 621's ( which I bought, hoping to get the ride , of my old 608's) . Nope the ride of the 813's which cost more is harder than my great 621's. Sorry. I even put in additional padding inserts , it helped a little.

The shoe does not fit very well since the Varco trips are way too long and almost hit the ground. In addition, the tong is too narrow so that when you get you foot in it the tong is above the body of the sneaker. The result of these issues the shoe does not fit well and is uncomfortable when I walk on my walker. I will probably throw them away and try another brand.

Very hard to walk in. No padding. Most uncomfortable shoe I've ever had. A total waste of my money.

Are you shoes are beautiful they are very comfortable. The only issue I had was that there was a crease from one end of the shoe to the other on the top left foot. The other one was making an indent, so I returned them.

I own a pair of 624s and 577s . I have had both pair for over 2 years and wear one pair every day . Love them . the 813 has an interior seam half way to the toe running vertically. It rubs badly.

If you need a very stable walking shoe to deal with an old injury, this is not the shoe for you. I've been buying the 928v3 for years owing to a broken foot and ankle instability. Sadly, the supply chain for 928s has been broken for 2 years. The 813 is not a good substitute, but the 608 is. update - just today I was told my Brown 928v3 order, 4 months old now, is finally coming thru.

Very uncomfortable shoes. I bought these for my dad but he cannot wear them even for one hour. The base is very hard and the shoes are unnecessarily heavy.

I had a ton of pain and discomfort in the arch area in particular. I bought both a black and white pair. There must be something in the construction that doesn’t agree with my feet. I usually get the 577 model, but it was marked as OUT OF STICK.
