I bought this boot for my shooting class in texas because heavy rain forecast during four day training. I had approx 50lb of gear on me including rifle and magazines. Ground was muddy and some areas were ankle deep water. After four day, I can say this boot did everything it supposed to well. Kept my feet comfortable without any area digging in. Gave great ankle support despite poor ground conditions. Kept my feet bone dry. I highly recommend this boot who needs long term comfort, great ankle support and waterproof.

Well I just received these about a couple of hours ago and I wanted to give my first impressions. I have a narrow, high arch foot and these fit great! Nice and snug fit without forefoot slop. Overall the boots fit my narrow foot really well, the boots seem very well constructed. Now on to my concerns. The boots are not very rigid like I am used to with backpacking boots. I have always worn the Lowa Tibet pro and Asolo PowerMatic 200 boots for backpacking and these Arc'teryx feel like sneakers compared to those boots. I can easily pick them up and bend them in half. But The main reason I got these boots was to try a lighter boot for backpacking, I just was not expecting such a difference. I will find out about stability in a few days on my first trip with them. My main concern comes down to the use of EVA as the cushioning in the midsole. Historically EVA cushioning is used in less expensive boots and the cushioning breaks down much faster than PU. Asolo, Lowa, Scarpa, etc... all use PU in the midsole of their nicer boots and EVA in their cheaper boots. EVA cushioned boots I have had in the past the cushioning was great in the sole but it blew out before I wore the sole out(less than a year of almost daily use). For this price the EVA better last at least two years or until I wear the sole out.

These have served as a fantastic all-round one-stop option for when conditions are variable or unknown. To my surprise, these have performed excellently, and with much better than expected breathability, during summer trips. The inner sock fits like a glove, and I now can't contemplate returning to other options.

I'm not the typical hiking boots guy as I actually wear theses for daily wear to the office. One of the reasons why boots are my choice is because I wear orthopedics to correct for my flat feet and boots work great with inserts. I travel a fair bit all around and these pair of boots work fantastically in both wet and humid tropics and also snowy ski resorts. In most situations, I just use a pair of merino wool socks and I never felt my feet to be wet, hot or cold in any circumstances Overall, this has been a fantastic purchase. Thus far I only found 3 issues with this pair of shoes; The first issue is you really have to try them out and make sure they fit well with some space. If you feet swell (e.g. like when you are on a long flight), these shoes do not have much give and will be painfully tight. Hence do not expect these shoes to expand. Second, to take care as they can be quite slippery on smooth wet rocks. In most circumstances, the traction of the sole is excellent except smooth wet, irregular rock surfaces. Lastly, the sole covering of the inner liners are not very durable. I have not even walked around them much but they already show some signs of wear. Fortunately you can replace them.

I live and work in Yosemite national park and these are my go to winter boot! They are comfy and the vibram rubber grips fantastically on virtually all surfaces. The removable liner is waterproof I can walk through streams and rivers as long as the water doesn't pass the top of the liner and my feet are as dry as when I put them in. The removable liner also allows the boot to dry faster so that they can be ready to use agai the next day. I also get tons of compliments on how they look, but even if they didn't look cool I would purchase them based strictly on their outstanding performance! Makes me really want to try the approach shoes! Great job archery's once again!!

I've had these boots for a few months now and put quite a few miles on them. First of all the removable liner is a nice touch as it allows the boot to be used in all seasons with he right liner. The fit is fantastic and the boots provide all day comfort. The vibram sole takes a lot of the shock out of walking on rocky terrain and the grip is unbelievable. I spent a few days hiking in Killarney on white quartzite that was wet and had no problems tackling tricky terrain. My only complaint is the lace lock system works perfectly but i find it could be easier to get the laces into when putting the boots on. Definitely not a deal breaker by any means. Highly recommend

I putchased these not knowing how useful they would be but purely on how they look! Once warring them I was blown away by their design and comfort. I then put them to full use and tested them on a 10 mile hike starting with a wade across a local then a 600m climb. I was dry, warm and completely comfortable throughout. I will be buying more, if they ever ware out!

Been to hell and back in these, they are great. They keep my feet comfortable, and most importantly, dry. Plus they hold up better than most other boots ive owned, others do well in the field but usually give out after a couple weeks of use.

These boots are simply incredible and I can't imagine wearing another pair of hiking boots for the rest of my life. They really feel like you're wearing a pair of running shoes but they can handle the toughest trails you can throw at them. I've taken them on a number of long hikes on Vancouver's north shore (think gnarly trails) and there's been zero discomfort and not even the hint of a blister. I would say that the synthetic outer takes a bit to break in so there was some pressure on the top of my big toe when I first started hiking in them, but after about 30 miles they were totally formed to my feet. Truly amazing boots and I would highly recommend. On a side note once you wear these and feel the difference compared with a traditional hiking boot you can't help but look at other boots as antiquated relics of a less advanced hiking past.

I've never written a product review before but felt I had to for these boots. I just returned from the O circuit trek in Torres Del Paine, Chile. On day one we were met with heavy rain, then snow, then rain again. Everyone heading out that day or the two days ahead of us was drenched and nearly all turned back and failed to complete the route due to soaked feet, tents, and sleeping bags. I was THE ONLY ONE who still had dry feet, and what a difference that made! the inner bootie was a great feature as well for a camp shoe to avoid messing up socks walking around the camp and refugios.

These are the boots I can wear when I don't know what to expect. Most of the action these boots have seen is in Hawaii - I tend to hit the trails when there is a lot of mud, and therefore use crampons. I haven't seen any significant wear to the exterior of my boot - I have seen a lot of reviews about poor durability.. I can't speak to that, they've held up very well. But my boots aren't getting scraped up against a lot of rocks or anything, and I have less than 200mi on them. I wouldn't get away with fully submerging my foot, but even in some fairly heavy rain, I'm laughing with dry feet while my buddies are complaining about squishy socks. And those times when the wet is just unavoidable, the liner does a good job keeping my socks from getting too squishy. My only complaint about these has been their weight - it isn't horrible, but I have bad knees and the extra ounces really add up - it is the only reason I even own another pair of boots. For some walks the extra bit of weight is worth it to know I'll have boots I can count on - but not every trek requires so robust a boot.

I recently used these on three back to back days on a film set where we were trudging through a muddy field, in heavy rain, with additional rain towers to make the rain look thicker!. So that's like 200% rain on and off for 13 hours each day. These things took it all on. I was extremely impressed by how comfortable they left my feet feeling. Bone dry. I think the real magic is how your feet are able to breathe while being protected like they were in a full rubber boot, no sweaty soup to deal with after a few hours of wear. I'm not a hiker so I can't say how they fare in that aspect. But for my needs they surpass everything I've tried, and I've tried everything from rubber boots to neos to Salomon hikers. I think I'll buy a second liner for the extra heavy rain days so I can alternate at lunch. I may even try to replace my snow boots with the winter liner and some nice wool socks. Oh the Arc'teryx GAS never ends.

These boots are amazing. I wish they were 100% black, but as far as use, comfort, function these are a 10 out of 10. Best hiking boots I have ever owned. I would buy again and would definitely recommend to others. My GF has them as well. She loves them just as much as I do. I wonder if they will ever make a BOA lace system? That is the only thing I can possibly think that would make these better!

I upgraded to these from my beloved Salomon Quest II 4D GTX boots because somehow they didn't fit the same as the other two previous pairs I had did. First trip out was a very comfortable 17.4 miles and 4000' of elevation gain and climbed a snow field. The chassis and lacing work well. I have runners knee and went the whole distance without any issues. Only issue I had was some hot spots on my heals that I attribute to them being new boots. Once these boots are completely broke in I don't expect to have and my issues.

The most sturdy piece of equipment I've ever owned. I feel like a warrior in my Arc'teryx boots, ready for any adventure that comes my way! During the summer, they can get somewhat unpleasantly warm when paired with wool socks. I'm not sure if this is a product of this boot, the socks or the season but the stability and confidence I get with every footstep makes this a small con. I'll never use another boot.

This is quite a long review I've put these boots through a lot (some days I've hiked 30-50km, terrain: rocky terrain, dry trails, and wet fields, even some quick scrambling). Weight: These are light boots, they pretty much have a similar weight to approach shoes, they don't slow you down I've been able to run up hills, and do some light scrambling to cover terrain quickly without having my legs feel fatigued as I have with other boots. Break in: Wore these boots the first day and hiked 30km in them no blisters some slight hot spots. The liner breaks in very quickly within an hour or two, the boot however takes much longer. But I've noticed that the more I wear them the more comfortable they feel. I've been using them for two months and I still am surprised at how they feel better the more I use them. Breatheability: I've worn these in hot summer climates when it's been 30+ degrees . The socks you wear make a very big difference and like someone else has mentioned how much everyone sweats is different. Personally I've never had really sweaty feet in these boots I usually wear a single hiking sock thats not too thick my feet do feel slightly warm but never soaked. This is something that will vary from person to person, but I can say that compared to lowa renegades and the saloman quest boots I've owned my feet have felt much more comfortable and airy in the boras. Grip: They won't let go in any environment rain or shine, your feet feel stuck. I've walked some dusty/dry trails where my friends were just slipping I've managed to slip a few times but when the ground just gives no boot will keep you stuck. I've never experienced heel slip and have even been able to walk up slippery rock faces here in Vancouver. Even in the pouring rain these shoes have kept me stuck to the ground. Liner: Love having a liner after a long hike instead of slipping my shoes on I usually just use the liner, much better than having to carry a 2nd pair of shoes driving up to hikes etc. Washing is also very easy, and I've submerged my feet in water many times and my feet have remained dry. Overtime I do see the goretex in the liner breaking down but that's expected. I do wish that arcteryx would release a non goretex liner but I suspect that isn't possible as the boots have a goretex logo on them. Knowing goretex they're probably the ones stopping arcteryx from making a liner without the membrane. Durability: This is kind of where I'm worried within the first week of wearing the boot I noticed that the meshing on the side of the boots is starting to lose some of that PU coating. I contacted arcteryx and asked if this was normal (as I had only owned the boots for a week, they said that it was just wear and tear and that they wouldn't be able to warranty them if the problem got worse, in the boots defense there were times where I had to wedge my feet between two rocks to get up, so it is somewhat reasonable). So far they still look fine but I do wonder how much more they'll take before tearing). But overall I'd say they are very durable. Laces/lacing system: The included laces aren't the best you'll always have to double knot them to stop them from coming undone. The lacing system however is really nice, I'm a long time snowboarder and love the ability to control the tension on these. I usually tie the lower portion a bit looser (the liner allows you to have a snug fit so tightening the laces down isn't necessary. But the upper can really be cranked down to prevent heel slippage and keep your ankles supported. The first few days i did feel the laces getting into my foot/ankle but as the boots have broken in this has stopped. Would I recommend these: Yes I think they're very versatile and can pretty much be that piece of gear you can use for any adventure, backpacking across countries, hiking, snowshoeing, or doing any activity that requires really good footwear. Plus being arcteryx you know your gear isn't going to fail when you need it the most.
