This is quite a long review I've put these boots through a lot (some days I've hiked 30-50km, terrain: rocky terrain, dry trails, and wet fields, even some quick scrambling). Weight: These are light boots, they pretty much have a similar weight to approach shoes, they don't slow you down I've been able to run up hills, and do some light scrambling to cover terrain quickly without having my legs feel fatigued as I have with other boots. Break in: Wore these boots the first day and hiked 30km in them no blisters some slight hot spots. The liner breaks in very quickly within an hour or two, the boot however takes much longer. But I've noticed that the more I wear them the more comfortable they feel. I've been using them for two months and I still am surprised at how they feel better the more I use them. Breatheability: I've worn these in hot summer climates when it's been 30+ degrees . The socks you wear make a very big difference and like someone else has mentioned how much everyone sweats is different. Personally I've never had really sweaty feet in these boots I usually wear a single hiking sock thats not too thick my feet do feel slightly warm but never soaked. This is something that will vary from person to person, but I can say that compared to lowa renegades and the saloman quest boots I've owned my feet have felt much more comfortable and airy in the boras. Grip: They won't let go in any environment rain or shine, your feet feel stuck. I've walked some dusty/dry trails where my friends were just slipping I've managed to slip a few times but when the ground just gives no boot will keep you stuck. I've never experienced heel slip and have even been able to walk up slippery rock faces here in Vancouver. Even in the pouring rain these shoes have kept me stuck to the ground. Liner: Love having a liner after a long hike instead of slipping my shoes on I usually just use the liner, much better than having to carry a 2nd pair of shoes driving up to hikes etc. Washing is also very easy, and I've submerged my feet in water many times and my feet have remained dry. Overtime I do see the goretex in the liner breaking down but that's expected. I do wish that arcteryx would release a non goretex liner but I suspect that isn't possible as the boots have a goretex logo on them. Knowing goretex they're probably the ones stopping arcteryx from making a liner without the membrane. Durability: This is kind of where I'm worried within the first week of wearing the boot I noticed that the meshing on the side of the boots is starting to lose some of that PU coating. I contacted arcteryx and asked if this was normal (as I had only owned the boots for a week, they said that it was just wear and tear and that they wouldn't be able to warranty them if the problem got worse, in the boots defense there were times where I had to wedge my feet between two rocks to get up, so it is somewhat reasonable). So far they still look fine but I do wonder how much more they'll take before tearing). But overall I'd say they are very durable. Laces/lacing system: The included laces aren't the best you'll always have to double knot them to stop them from coming undone. The lacing system however is really nice, I'm a long time snowboarder and love the ability to control the tension on these. I usually tie the lower portion a bit looser (the liner allows you to have a snug fit so tightening the laces down isn't necessary. But the upper can really be cranked down to prevent heel slippage and keep your ankles supported. The first few days i did feel the laces getting into my foot/ankle but as the boots have broken in this has stopped. Would I recommend these: Yes I think they're very versatile and can pretty much be that piece of gear you can use for any adventure, backpacking across countries, hiking, snowshoeing, or doing any activity that requires really good footwear. Plus being arcteryx you know your gear isn't going to fail when you need it the most.

I ADORE these boots. I got them as a replacement to a pair of Keen Targhees that I have had for years. First, I was looking for something vegan (thanks Arc'teryx for giving me a compassionate option) - Second, I was looking for something that could handle desert hiking endemic to southern California as well as something that would keep me dry and warm on the top of San Jacinto. These TOTALLY deliver. I was one of the only participants in a recent "snow" camp that had dry feet; I was also one of the only participants in a recent "desert" backpack that managed NOT to donate blood to the cholla, yucca and ocatillo gods. These are tough and protected my feet accordingly. The removable liners are incredible for keeping your feet dry and warm - and then easy to dry out over night. I LOVE these boots - HIGHLY recommended for all levels of hikers who are serious about keeping them for a while and using them to adventure in a variety of ways!

My wife and I had a few days of climbing planned, in the Adirondacks. Within 5 hours of hiking, her hiking boots caused serious bilateral heel blisters, despite the fact she took a few weeks attempting to break them in and stopping to use Moleskin. We turned around and went back to Lake Placid feeling pretty dejected. We gave her heels a few days for the inflammation to reduce and went back into the bush with new Arc'teryx Boras on her feet. She found them comfortable right out of the box. No break in necessary. Her blisters did not get any worse and her pain was negligible. They kept her feet dry and protected in some very tough conditions. We were totally impressed and I now plan to be shopping for a pair of my own.

These boots quickly won me over out on a hike, climbed up to subalpine and encountered deep wet snow, while carrying my 1 1/2 year old in my backpack. Approached a creek where in summer you can walk upstream on logs to keep out of the water, but these logs were snow covered and too risky to walk on so I picked up my 5 year old and carried both kids up the stream for about 30m. With a minimum depth of 150mm and a max of 300mm, my feet remained completely dry and the new vibram soles gave me excellent grip on the slipperey rocks! Later on walking through a snow covered sub alpine marshy area I sunk in and my legs went in to water up to my knees...feet bone dry. Another mention is that I felt excellent ankle support from these boots. The next day I hiked to a remote alpine cabin without the kids and had to strap on snowshoes and gaiters. No issues feet were warm and dry. No blisters or hot spots. Material is tough and should last.

I bought these boots to go to Iceland with. They feel great (once you get your lacing right) right out of the box. The first thing I noticed after having them on was the high degree of ankle support they offered. I wore them in Iceland after not really breaking them in at all. They still felt great, but after 8 days in Iceland they developed some tight spots on the side of my foot below my ankles. At first I thought it was the metal lacing buckle, but on closer inspection realized it was just the boot material so I imagine when I break them in further that won't be a concern. Those tight spots, and the finicky nature of the lacing are my only remote complaints about these boots. Aside from them, these boots are fantastic. They're not too heavy, provide loads of traction, waterproofness and support. I would absolutely recommend these boots to anyone looking to get some hiking/trekking in. Especially in wet ,uneven, rocky terrain like I encountered in Iceland. These boots were rockstars. I have the low cut shoe model of these (Bora 2 I think) also. I loved those approach shoes so I bought these boots on the strength of that experience.

From the hooks on the heel for pulling the boot on to hanging them at the hut to dry out, the detail on these boots is out of this world. The laces aren't brittle in the cold, they are thin and don't soak up tons of dirty. The shoes didn't really need a break in period as they were super comfortable from the start. Love the removable liners! They work awesome for hut booties and makes the whole keeping your boots clean process so much easier to manage. What I absolutely love is all the support they offer me! I am a notorious ankle roller and it's changed that big time since constantly wearing these, even though I previously wore mid highs of another brand I'm fully converted to the Bora Boot! They handle snow, slick rock and muddy trails with ease. They also help when I'm hauling a big heavy pack! Two thumbs up from this girl.

I bought these without trying on and trusted Arcteryx would come through, and did they ever. First off, I wore them on a short hike to test them, and after tweaking the socks compatibility, they are perfection. I use a light cushion sock now as a thin sock created hot spots. Now they are perfectly tuned in and after a 30 lb backpacking trip, the boots were almost the highlight of the trip. Added bonus feature is liners are great for trekking around campsite after long day......just ordered the insulated liners for this winter.

Bought these boots for their dual purpose and they work great! I use them with the liner while hiking and with my Patagonia Rio Gallegos II (M) Waders while fishing. Being an Acrux size 46 means carrying separate wading boots for fishing takes up too much space in my backpack. The perfect fit for my intentions with these boots are size 47 1/3. Hope this helps. Fantastic quality yet again!

Love these boots. Super light weight for a hiker. The removable liner is a fantastic idea. So comfortable straight away. The liner doesn't move in the boot and doesn't crinkle with lacing. Can be a bit of a pain to get boot on, but worth it. Walked dark peak for two days and no blisters or any other niggles. Love how the boots look and very durable. Noticed some comments on the boot being too warm when worn on a summer hike? If you can find a full waterproof hiking boot that isn't warm on a summer hike I will eat my new boots! If you're hiking up a climb in summer in water proof mid hikers your feet will get warm, unless you're some sort of lizard. Anyway rant over. These boots are great, a bit pricey but worth it.

Really like this boot, although I was skeptical initially and afraid the bootie would rub the boot and gve me a hot spot they don't at all and there was no break in period and the boots fit like a glove! The sizing was true to me and while I have a narrow foot that can at times be a challenge to get boots that fit the bootie moulded perfectly to my foot and the outer boot fits great. I like the outer mould of a boot, clean in design and very funtional. I like that you ca just rinse of the shell without worrying about getting your boot soaked. Overall great boot and recommend to all!

After a couple months of break they are great. Best boots I have owned. I purchased the insulated liner for snowshoeing and I am very happy, warm but not too warm. Took a while to work in and after a few blisters I can now say they are perfect. Totally waterproof and the removable liner allows the gortex to be properly cleaned.

Great things can happen to those who take risks and try new things. This certainly seems to be one of those times! Most cons I read about in reviews are regarding Waterproofness, breathability, and buckling. Here is why none of these things should not matter that much: - There is no waterproof boot I realize this runs in conflict with what manufacturers say, but in reality, from my seven seasons in forestry, and having tried many different products, at some point water gets in NO MATTER WHAT. The beauty of this boot is if several days are being spent in the bush, wet liners can be switched out for dry ones. - Breathability or water resistance? It is a delicate balance to achieve both. You want a waterproof boot but you'd also like it to breathe? Gore-Tex can only take us so close. I have Viberg boots I use for my summer work in BC. They are black and made of thick rough-out leather, quite heavy. I wear wool socks in them that are excellent at wicking. My feet stay relatively cool while trudging around cut-blocks in the Okanagan region. Often it is not the boot that will help your feet breathe, it is the sock that can make all the difference. - Buckling and sore feet while breaking in the boot. I am quite sorry but there is no gain in no pain, and if you really want to garner my sympathies regarding breaking in a boot, try breaking in a pair of Vibergs, I am an adult who spent several weeks in tears breaking those guys in. Now they are the most comfortable boot I have (second to the Arcteryx Bora2 Mid GTXs). Considering the low weight, the versatility and the toughness of these boots, I cannot recommend them enough. The only qualm I have in recommending them is that I want to be the only one at work with this boot :)

Erstaunlich rutschfest. Herzlichen Dank!

So I headed out for a 40-mile hike through the Wind River Range and decided my trail runners were not beefy enough and my old hiking boots were just to heavy. So an upgrade was in order and I pulled the trigger on some Bora2 Mid GTXs and never looked back. Long story short is these boots are the best I've ever owned. I purchased an 11.5 and they fit true to size with the weight being 730grams per a single boot+liner or 186grams for a single liner only. We started off the first two days of the hike and the weather was in the mid 70's boots were comfortable throughout the day with only a touch of dampness after a 10 mile hike. This slight dampness was easily fixed by putting the liners in front of a campfire for 10 minutes or putting them in my sleeping bag for the night - both approaches worked well. On days three and four of the hike is where the boots really excelled. Those beautiful 70 degree days turned into 20 degree days with a full day of rain and sleet as the temps dropped. After two full days hiking in two inches of slush at ~11K feet my feet were completely dry. Not a drop of water. As for the outer boot a real bonus was the Bora2's never got waterlogged on the outside as other boots I own do - water just sheds off them, which was a real positive. As for water in between the boot and the waterproof bootie this was not an issue - as you walk you actually push the water out of the boot through the holes in the outside shell (it actually bubbles as it squeezes out of the boot through the holes see image). So if water gets in, as you walk you actually push the water out. Finally, the outer boot seemed to be bombproof. The entire boot is made out of a material that is sorta like a toecap on most boots. Think of it as a cool looking light weight tire for your foot. As for using the liner as a camp shoe this was also a very nice surprise. I took an extra liner and my buddy and I ended up using these the entire trip as camp shoes. They are really grippy on both granite and wet/icy granite and were perfect for crawling around in our UltaMid without tracking mud and ice throughout. The tread on the bottom was also thick enough to make them comfortable as you walk around on gravely surfaces. For those fishermen out there you could also probably swap out the liners for some neoprene liners and you would be good to go with some light weight pseudo-waders. This was a topic of discussion as a few of us were fishing and will be tried out in the near future. As for breaking the shoes in there really was no break-in. It's a sock with a boot shell and as long as you lace the shoes up properly (not to tight) they just fit. I made the mistake of lacing them to tight on one day prior to the trip and I immediately noticed it was gong to be an issue as once you lock these shoestrings down they do not move or slip. My only minor complaint is there is a little tab on the back of the inner liner you use to pull the shoes on (see image). This tab seemed to irritate the back of my heel without a sock. My buddy who has skinnier ankles did not have this issue but it was an issue for me without some Smartwool between my heel and the shoe. So in conclusion, pickup a pair of these if you are in the market and you won't be disappointed. They really are a step forward in functionality and flexibility for hiking boots.

OK I admit it - I love new tech - whether its iPhones or outdoor gear - so when I saw the Bora 2 I couldn't resist. I had been looking for a mid weight hiking boot that would be good for year round hiking in New Zealand so it needed the following features Good support on rough trails - enough to help with a pack - but not too heavy that you just wouldn't use it Waterproof Dries quickly (as all boots come with a big hole in the top - and streams often get above ankle or gaiter level) solid enough to take a flexible crampon - not for ice climbing - but a steep snow slope or trail with ice on it So when I saw the Bora 2 I thought - hmmmmmm - and couldn't resist it Well I have had the boot for a month now - enough to feel I can review it Initially I felt all the problems that had been mentioned in other reviews - some hot spots on my heels (I have awful feet with heel bumps) some discomfort with kinks in the upper where my foot flexes, concerns about shipping gravel between the boot and the liner etc Now a month on and I really do think I have got the perfect 4 season boot for New Zealand. A 15Km walk with 42 river crossings (many knee deep) and yes of course the boots got wet - but my feet stayed warm and comfortable - and by the way that was basically snow melt we were walking in - with air temperature around 5 degrees C. No hot spots, no blisters - just snug and comfy 18km walk with 1300m of ascent - snow up to 60cm, below freezing and a slippy ice covered steep trail that necessitated crampons. Well I wouldn't do full on climbing with these boots but for ice covered trails that need crampons (I used a semi rigid Grivel G10 the crampon stayed solid on the boots and I had enough ankle support not to feel I was going to do a whoops! At the end of the 7 hour walk my feet felt dry but my socks were damp - but I have never experienced anything less after a long walk A lot of NZ walks include overnights in huts - and at least on the great walks they don't like you stomping around in a hut with your boots on - so one is expected to carry hut shoes. Well what better way to dry out your boots than to just keep your liners on which conveniently come with a nice sole that is more than enough to potter around the hut and surrounds - while drying out your boot! - perfect - no extra weight to carry around - the only downside being your feet might get a little niffy after a few days. With a bit of luck a good southerly should blow all that away

I purchases this boot to use on a dig this summer. The liner insert was a great feature for walking on fragile floors and for final sweeping. I was around dirt, rocks and debris constantly and never had a problem with anything bothersome getting inside of the shoes. The upper part of the liner would get dusty, but it was easy to clean them at end of the dig. I wore the insert often, but there is barely any sign of wear. They are more durible than I expected. The outer shell held up well too. They got a lot of abuse on site and on the weekends they were comfortable for all of the 8-10 mile hikes I went on. I think the tread of the boot is well designed too. It provided an excellent grip, and I never had a problem with pebbles getting stuck. They were always comfortable. I meansure between a 9.5 and 10 (between d and E width) on a Brannock device. I went with the 10 and the felt great. It feels like they may have stretched out a tiny but. Most of my shoes do unless I get an E with. While they are a bit bulkier than boots I have had in the past, they were much lighter than I expected. They were easy to get on in one piece. However, they were tricky to get off in one piece. The liner likes to stay on the foot when you pull the outer shell off. If I pinched the boot above the heel (calcaneus) at the achilles tendon I could the shell and liner off in together. I cannot comment on the laces, because I used elastic cord. Overall the boots exceeded my expectations. I usually do not buy expensive shoes unless I can resole them. I was also hesitant because this was the introduction of Arc'teryx footwear, and I had no reviews to go on, but these boots were solid and should hold up for several more dig seasons. On top of that, Arc'teryx is a fantastic company who takes pride in and stands behind their products. They will treat you right! I hope this helps!
