These are by far the best pair of hiking boots I've ever owned. Great support for my joints, highly breathable and very sturdy.
I was a bit sad about the stiffness when I got them, but they are a perfect fit.
I usually get blisters, but not in these.

I have two scrambles into these boots so far. Mt. Baldy and Mt Charles Stuart. I find the fit of the boot amazing. Heel retention is exceptional. The soles have some of the best grip of any footwear I have ever worn. The toe has a proper climbing zone. Durability after two trips (13 hours tested) appears good. Mt Charles Stuart is a scree bash the whole way up and down. Lots of talus. I don't have any obvious abrasion. The boots have the appropriate level of support and foot feel through the sole. I read a review that said you can feel every rock. I would challenge that. I would say these aren't a heavy double welted boot that will support a 60 lb pack. But they aren't designed for that. Their name suggests that they are a hiking boot. With my 22L scrambling pack I had no issues. I'm 6 foot 2, 200 lbs and have a size 13 foot. I think the fit is true to size. I have my orange superfeet in the boots with no issues. Another great product from Arcteryx.

I don't normally bother writing reviews, but these boots are so amazing, I felt compelled to write one. I'll start with how comfortable they are. When I first put them on, they did not seem very comfortable, but after a couple of hours wearing them, I guess the "Adaptive Fit Technology" allowed them to mold to my feet. I now consider them to be the most comfortable boots I've ever worn, and I don't usually like the hi-top style boots.
I just returned from a trip down Coyote Gulch in Southern Utah, which consists of continually walking through 3"-4" of running water. My feet stayed perfectly dry. When I reached the Escalante River and its waist deep waters, I simply removed the liners from the boots, put on some neoprene socks, and wore the boot shell over them. That way, when I was finished wading in the river, I could put on my normal socks, return the liners to the boots, and have dry feet once again. The idea of the liners is simply brilliant! I wore the liners by themselves around camp, like comfy slippers. The boots are extremely durable as they show no signs of wear after a rather grueling trip, and the tread grips the sandstone better than any other boot I've tried.
There is simply no other boot like this... yet. As usual, Arc'teryx is leading the way; watch for inferior imitations to start showing up soon.

Well, this is one of the products that I have to take time to write about.
I have to say that the concept caught my attention right away and after trying them on I decided to retire my conventional leather gore-tex hiking boots at least for now. The idea of having a removable liner is just GENIUS ! I have put them through 60kms of hiking in the Canadian Rockies and so far nothing but positives to report. The soles offer superior traction and gaiters work very well.
This is a no nonsense boot ,
Thanks Arc'Teryx !

Still breaking it in, but great ankle support and very comfortable. Feels like you’re walking in basketball shoes. Waterproof and warm. In warmer weather wear thinner socks. I felt the liners should be more size appropriate. Maybe take the mesh higher and use a zip.

I've had them about 2 1/2 years and worn them for a lot of hiking and snowshoeing. Very comfortable right out of the box - no break in period.
The most water-resistant boots I've owned. Even if the inner liners get wet my feet stay dry. On a spring snowshoe I forgot my gaiters and wore the boots all day in deep, wet snow and my feet stayed dry. My friend wore gaiters and had to ring water out of his socks at the end of the hike. The liners act as gaiters, keeping out all rocks, etc. If the liners get wet remove them from the boots and they dry in a day. Only downside of the liners is they stink more than most boots, but they can be hand washed.
I would give these five stars but the durability of the soles is not good. Apparently they cannot be re-soled, which makes them disposable boots. I took them to reputable boot repair place in Seattle when the soles started to separate in three places on each boot and they said they could not re-sole them. For now I have shoe goo holding the soles on and maybe I can get a few more months out of them. Very sad.
*I recommend them, but only to people who have money to spend on boots that don't last long.

Preliminary Thoughts, will update:
So I just got the boots two weeks ago at the time of this review. I ordered directly from Arcteryx, hoping for snappy delivery, and I wasn't disappointed. Good job. I have conducted a series of tests that tested breathability, comfort, waterproofness, and ease of use. My tests have intentionally worn the boot down as little as possible via walking exclusively in grass.
1. Breathability: Before buying I heard a lot about the breathability. Some said it was good, others said otherwise. I say...it depends. What I mean is the socks you are wearing, if the outside of the boot is wet or not, and how much you individually are sweating (a factor which can change). Thicker socks = less breathability. Some synthetic and cotton socks breathe less than thin wool. When wet, they will not breathe as well. The moisture outside will just prevent that. So for sweating, if you are a heavy sweater, a higher percent of your sweat will get out, but your feet might remain wetter. Also, your feet sweat different amounts throughout the day.
2. Comfort: I was pleasantly surprised by how good these felt. As a person with abnormally wide feet, I expected cramped toes and blisters, all of which came true. But these symptoms lasted for not very long. About three miles killed the cramped toes, but that walk gave me blisters. Next outing, no blisters. I attribute this very quick break in to the liner and its playability. As soon as the inside fabric loosened up a bit, they felt great. The next feature is the (in my opinion) well designed insole. Or lack of. The bottom of the inside of the boot is perfectly shaped to the foot and at least for me eliminated the need for aftermarket insoles, something I do for all of my boots. So that's comfort done.
3. Waterproofness: Here's a quick one. They are not 100% submersible. The stitching down the middle of the liner will, after about 5 minutes up to the cuff in the bathtub, let in a few drops of water. Not a big deal as it's probably less than you will sweat.
4. Ease of Use: This is a strange section for a boot review, but it is pertinent to my experimentation. There are a few quirks that I noticed in my time testing these. Firstly, It is much easier to put your foot into the bootie, then slide it into the outer boot. Second, you can tie the laces looser down the top of your foot than on normal boots. This is because the liner already does a good bit to keep your foot secure, and the laces will only become uncomfortable. Thanks to the little lace lock thing, you can have two different tensions in your laces. A great feature. This brings me to my last quirk. There is a tongue, but it's not a tongue, and the bootie is not a tongue. What I mean is there is a small bit of red fabric down at the end of the boot for keeping rocks and things out. Neither this nor the bootie are sufficiently thick to be called a tongue. Hence looser laces.
Thoughts: If you take the time to really look around the boot you will notice some incredible attention to detail and features that just work and are necessary to the function of the boot.

I've been using these boots on backpacking trips all summer. I've worn them on a variety of multi-day hikes, carrying a heavy backpack (60lbs). They have been worn in all weather and trail conditions, including snow, mud, hot dry trail, and rocky alpine. These boots are incredibly durable, showing little wear and tear after a full summer of adventure. They fit snuggly and comfortably, it didn't feel like I had to "break them in". Also I am really pleased they are still completely waterproof. One really nice feature is if the removable booties do start to leak, these are replaceable. One thing I have noticed is an odour that is difficult to get rid of. I have not had any foot odour issues with any other footwear. This seems to be specific to the material in these boots. Also sometimes rocks or snow work their in between the boot and the liner, this is a bit annoying. You also need to be mindful to pull the liner out to allow the boot and liner to air dry properly. For many people switching from a traditional hiking boot this might not be so intuitive at first. Perhaps some care and maintenance instructions could be included with these. Overall I love these boots and certainly recommend giving them a try.

Great boots! My feet are size 14B and these boots felt amazing right out of the box. However, after a weekend of scrambling over Selkirk granite I am a little dissappointed with the durability of the outsole. There are 2 lugs that are currently hanging on by a thread. Obviously, the rubber compound used makes for exceptional traction, but at a high cost. These boots may need to be resoled much sooner than later.

I have owned these boots for just under a year. My very first trip with them was a 22 miles multi-day backpacking trip last Fall. This was a huge leap of faith for me with new boots. The terrain was rocky and rough with a 45 pound pack. These boots preformed beautifully and I never had issues with blisters.
I have since then put in hundreds of miles in these boots including a 23 trek through the Himalayas this Spring. They never had an issue until this back-to-back adventure. Some issues with breathability revealed themselves with the back-to-back usage. I took out the liners and insoles every night to dry. A smell issue developed after about day 7 and an off color line appeared, in the outline of my foot, on the liner. The smell was quite noticeable after day 14 even with sub-zero conditions every night. Thank goodness that these liners can be washed. I've never had this issue with other boots.
I would highly recommend these boots for shorter adventures and/or arid conditions. The gore-tex liner breathability does present a challenge otherwise. The liners are rock solid waterproof but potentially a little too good.

I've just spent the summer in these boots and done many different activities. This is includes a five day hike, SAR missions through swamps, pouring rain days, and quick day scrambles. I am very impressed with these right out of the box. No blisters, no hot spots, no breaking them in. It takes a while for water to penetrate into the boots, and when it does you hardly feel the moisture. There isn't any sloshing, it just feels sweaty almost. Once they hit that point they do dry out super quick even while you're walking in them. On top of that its an excellent feature that you can take the liner out and wear the boot shell barefoot for river crossings.
The downside of these boots is they get stinky. Its super hard to get the smell out by their hand washing recommendations and it stinks up the basement when I put them on my boot drier. I wish they had machine wash instructions. Unfortunately I'll have to purchase a second set of liners or different boots for hunting season. Another downside is that they do not fit gaitors very well to block out extra rainy days. That being said, these boots will repel water nearly as well.

I bought these boots in January 2016. The key selling points for me at the store were that the Bora are:
Lightweight
Waterproof
The inner lining replaced the need for a 'camp shoe'
The sales rep also promised me that these boots would keep your feet warm, but not sweaty, and dry. He was wearing his own pair and praised them so much that I felt a bit like I was being taken for a ride. For 'breaking them in' the only advice I was given was not to lace the boots too tightly.
Since then, I've put over 250 kilometers on these boots, 150+ of which were over an 11-day period in New Zealand hiking the Milford, Routeburn and Kepler tracks. These boots have been through alpine, rivers, beaches, wet caves, torrential downpours and more. Most of the time, I wear these boots with the Sea to Summit Quagmire gaiters and have so far only used the mid-weight liner that comes standard.
For me, there was no noticeable break-in period. I wore them out on a few day hikes and they were immediately comfortable. I did try to keep the initial hikes down to 2-3 hours.
The boots really do keep your feet warm, yet not sweaty or too hot. By the end of a hot summer day's hiking, my upper body will be soaked with sweat but when I pull my boots off the socks are dry and feel as if they just came out of the dryer. I was extremely skeptical about this part when getting the sales pitch, but true to form they have not disappointed.
The inner lining really functions well as a camp shoe. You will look a little ridiculous, but that is a small price to pay to get those valuable ounces off your back by not needing any other footwear. The sole of the liner is more durable than I expected, which helps when you need to wander over rocks to get to a toilet at night.
One worry I had was that between your sock, the liner, and the outer body of the boot, there may be an increased risk for blisters. I have not a single blister in all the distance I've put on the shoe, and the only time I had a mild hot spot was after putting on a damp sock. The sock was damp from the previous day where it rained all day, and after 25+ kilometers rain had run down my legs. Which brings me to my next point. The waterproofing on the liner is great, but if you have to put on damp socks they are unlikely to dry out while wearing the boot. It's really important to start with a dry sock. I switched to a dry pair mid-day and the hot spot didn't get any worse. All that said, I may just be lucky because I've noticed other reviewers have had blisters and hot spots.
I've only had one incident where it felt like the liner may have leaked. I was crossing a river and both boots flooded. The right arch of my foot felt a bit damp, but that was it. When caving, I was walking through a river nearly the whole time. My feet were a bit cold but dry. I later realized the boot was essentially flooded the whole time, but the liner remained waterproof and my feet were dry. I'm completely happy with the performance so far in this regard, but I am curious how much more distance they have in them before the waterproofing wears off.
In terms of durability, I don't have any concerns about the boot or the liner, but unfortunately one of the shoelaces is starting to noticeably fray. This surprised me because in more than a decade of hiking, I've never had any issues with shoelaces. It's annoying, but not a deal-breaker for me.
Another issue is with lacing the boot. So far I've not yet figured out a way to lace the boot where it stays tight for a whole hike. Even with pulling the knot as tightly as possible, the laces will work themselves a bit loose (even though the knot stays) during the day. That said, even with the laces not extremely tight, I haven't had any problems during steep descents.
All in all, I'm really happy with these boots and they have raised the bar from what I will expect in a boot going forward. In a few months they will be put further to the test when I hike the 223-kilometer Larapinta Trail in Central Australia. This trail is known for being a boot killer, and I'll post another review after completing it. The reason I didn't give this five stars is solely because of the shoelace fraying. I am a bit concerned that if it continues at the same rate, it may be a problem on the Larapinta.
In summary, the good:
No noticeable break-in period
Liner waterproofing is excellent
Boot keeps feet warm but not sweaty
No blisters (so far!)
Liner replaces need to purchase/carry a camp shoe
The bad:
Shoelaces fray too easily
Boot does not remain tightly laced

Til det er slen noe for myk. Til vanlig terreng med vekslende bunn og med middels tung sekk, er denne stvelen meget behagelig.
