I use this backpack to carry my laptop and office supplies from and to work, and between multiple work locations in Seattle. Love that my back doesn't get sweaty. Straps are extremely comfortable- I feel like I carry less weight than my old backpack, even though I just transferred my stuff over (didn't get rid of anything).

The product is a lot smaller than expected, but everything fit! In fact it's compact style was not a hinderance to include all my stuff, and I have a lot of stuff. I am missing a place to connect keys, or a thumb drive on the backpack. I had my wife sew a clip on the side of the bag for this purpose. I also had to add a box at the bottom of the big compartment because all my books fell to the bottom. The computer compartment is easily accessible when the bag is on its side. I find myself turning it on its side to access much of my 'stuff'. In some ways this makes it easier and in some ways more difficult. Every backpack I've owned takes time to get used to. This one is no different. It is the best backpack I have owned. There is not a one perfect for all my needs. But this one is close. I would highly recommend it.

I use this bag to carry my laptop and books (I'm a professor), and it's amazing. My shoulder and neck problems instantly disappeared. The first time I tried it on, I worried that the straps were close together, as some reviews had mentioned that. However, once I got it loaded up with books, I no longer noticed them. I'm not sure if they sat differently when the backpack was weighed down, but it's really comfortable, and the straps don't bother me at all. I'm incredibly happy with this bag.

Timbuk2 won me over with their classic messenger bag years ago. It was my main commuting bag for over seven years, because of it's thoughtful design, and it held up amazingly well. This Uptown backpack has the same build quality and intelligent design but is much more versatile than the messenger bag for traveling, especially with an expensive laptop. This has plenty of pockets of external batteries and cords/accessories. I also love the plain design, it draws much less attention while traveling abroad. This backpack simply couldn't be better.

I am a Stay-At-Home-Dad, that doesn't actually get to spend much time at home. I also do the bookkeeping for several clients and need to be able to carry my office around with me so that I can sit down to work when I have time between dropping off and picking up the kids at their various activities. This backpack is extremely well organized so that I can quickly find everything I need, from my bluetooth 10-key keypad, to my laptop, to my file folders. My very bulky noise-isolation headphones (so that I can concentrate at Starbucks) fit nicely in the large front pocket without affecting the main compartment so that I can keep my papers and files from getting mangled.

This bag can carry my laptop, my iPad Pro, phone, chargers, Bose headphones, camera and other little stuff with room to spare. With very solid construction this is a bag that will out live me!

I bought this to replace a Timbuk2 briefcase that I loved. I wanted a backpack style for travel. The inside is huge and I can fit everything I need - all without the backpack seeming huge. Tons of organization, easy access to my laptop, durable quality - definitely recommend. Love this! Only downsides I see - the straps aren't overly padded (although they are still pretty comfortable).

Backpack is professional looking in appearance (Midway color) and can be easily presented in board meetings, the casual work environment and/or meetings and conferences. The storage areas are more than sufficient and the soft lined top pocket is a great concept to keep your fragile items such as glasses or cell phone. The smaller side pocket works great for your wallet, money clip, small hand sanitizer and a spare cell phone battery. The TSA Friendly laptop/tablet section is perhaps the biggest advantage while traveling. The shoulder straps are comfortable and the weight distribution of the backpack itself fits well and evenly on your back and shoulders. Upon receiving my backpack, I initially had an issue with this zippered section as it was binding and hard to open/close without grasping the edge of the backpack to assist in the process. In order to remedy this, I used an old candle and applied wax to the zippers. This resulted in a smoother travel and the binding has been mitigated. I believe that running cabling inside the bag (with an owner provided battery pack) to an outside USB outlet would even compliment this bag and make it a complete and efficient set-up.

I work in multiple buildings, so need to carry my mobile office with me, and this backpack is wonderful for keeping everything I haul organized! I don't use the TSA pocket for my laptop every day, a bit awkward to access, but very useful at the airport. The zippers are good solid strong zippers, but they don't always flow the way I'd like them to, so sometimes it takes two hands to close a pocket. That said, I'd recommend to anyone who wants the benefit of multiple pockets that are well thought out in size and shape, for how they make organizing lot of stuff easy, and for how they make maintaining that organization possible.

Recently I had a short weekend trip and decided to try this bad as my main luggage bag. I was not dissapointed: 4 changes of clothes and plenty of space left in the main bag. all my toiletries were stored comfortably on the organizer pocket and the front pocket was perfect for holding my wallet and passport.

I have multiple Timbuk2 messenger bags, and use all of them frequently, but sometimes I need to carry other items in another Timbuk2 bag so I ordered a back pack to do the job and it works really great!

Overall an outstanding bag. Perfect for daily commute to office and recently used as carry-on bag for 5 day business trip. The divisions between pockets and storage areas is excellent. My 17" macbook pro was kept very safe and easily accessible. Very comfortable to wear for long time periods. Only reservation: the zippers on the main compartments are a little sticky. I've only had the bag a week, so they might smooth out with use.

I've been using Timbuk2 Messengers since highschool (about 20 years now), and I started using the backpacks as well a few years ago. My wife needed a traveling backpack, so the choice was obvious for me of what to get. She loves the bag so far, and is impressed with the comfort, light weight, and storage compartment options.

What an incredible product. I don't usually write reviews, no less glowing ones. But this backpack deserves praise. I've had it just three weeks but have already taken it to New York City, Warsaw, Prague and London. With a laptop, sweatshirt, passport, wallet, keys, business cards, sunglasses, extra glasses, pens, and a bunch of other stuff. I intuitively remembered where everything was because the organization in this backpack makes sense. So happy to have it. So functional. I'm now a huge fan.

It was a surprise gift to my dad for Fathers' day and he was so happy to have received it. Firstly, it was a gift from his son and secondly a Timbuk2 bag perfected the gift idea! He have changed many bags before and he immediately replaced this with the current one. He loved it and bragged to his co-worker the comfort, style (maroon is a nice manly colour!), spacious and many pockets which the bagpack offers! Good job timbuk2 - you never fail to disappoint me!

After back pain from the satchel, I decided to try a backpack for my computer. I am thoroughly pleased with this product. I was surprised at how much it actually holds -- it is sufficient for a weekend trip, with a cpap machine.

Just used on a 10 day trip across N. Italy and it was so comfortable and roomy enough that I only needed a small carry on suitcase. Very tough and durable. My son has had the same style for 9months, traveling Europe with it, and very happy with it.

Really like this backpack. When I bought it I was torn between this and a Northface. I am very happy with my decision. There is tons of room for gadgets and their accessories. I carry a 15" MacBook Pr, iPad, and 3 mobile phones all with accessories. Everything fits well.

I was looking for a bag that I can use to carry my laptop, papers, small pouches and at the same time, place them at different compartments. This bag is exactly what I needed. There were enough compartments to store all the different items separately. The flexible straps are fantastic, just like any other Timbuk2 backpacks that I've had. I like the fact that the laptop compartment is separate but unfortunately the straps are kind of obstructing the access to the laptop. However, overall, I am still loving this bag and would definitely recommend it to others.
