This shoe seems well build but it did not fit my foot as I would have expected, tried both a 1/2 size larger at D width and my shoe size at E width. The arch support was moderate but not sufficient for someone with a high arch. And the overall fit felt clunky compared to some other shoes I tried.

These look cool, so was excited. As some other reviewers commented, the are not comfortable to me. Like they were made for flat feet. Definitely get your own insoles, which is too bad. First pair of North Face shoes, I think I'll stick to shoe makers.

My husband liked these pretty well, but the pair is missing a shoelace. Hoping Zappos can send me one.

Nice enough, but felt a little small especially in the toe box, otherwise firm, maybe too firm, not comfortable walking shoes, may need to be broken in more, but not happy enough to keep them and try to fund out.

Definitely more of a 'boot' than it is a sneaker. Sole was very rigid. Heel felt very tall but stiff and uncushioned. The outsole/front portion of the shoe also felt very elevated. This creates kind of a bridge over the arch/shank area. I have fairly flat feet and after just trying them on and walking in my house for a minute, could tell that I would have serious foot pain if I actually wore them for any mileage. Ordered it in a "wide" and was surprised by how narrow it still was in the toe box area. Not a keeper for me.

Good solid hiking boots, ratings are only 3 stars because the inserts are garbage. You will need to get some decent inserts if you are hiking more than a few miles and don't want blisters.

Perfect comfortable fit. I wear a 7.5 wide and this fits as a 7.5 wide. What I didn't like is the cut heal; I find that style very uncomfortable, so I had to return it.

I bought these 2 months ago and was happy to try out a pair of North Face hikers. They keep my feet dry and somehow seem to repel dirt from sticking to them. I did notice that they seem to have less foot cushion than the other brand I used to wear had. I can get over that, though.
The bigger pitfalls that I have so far experienced, is the quite poor grip on icy surfaces. The most recent issue is that both laces seem to have self-destructed. As another comment indicated, likely due to sharper edges on the metal eyelets. After finding out that the laces are not covered within the shoe warranty (I would have at least thought a 6-month warranty on laces), I went looking for solutions. As I can't return these (nor do I really want to), I will be trying a pair of Ironlace laces. Hopefully those will help with the abrasion issue. The North Face should really include a decent pair of laces with their hikers and at minimum make sure their hardware does not have sharp edges.
I like how they look and they seem to work well for my day-to-day usage, so I will keep wearing them until it is time to replace.

I was drawn in by the shoe's looks and I know they're very popular in general. I was disappointed at how wide and even long they were and I ordered my normal size. They didn't feel solid enough for me, nor did they have enough cushioning. I purchased them for hiking, but I think they're a better casual shoe. Beautiful design, though.

These shoes have great support to start with but it is lost after 6-7 months. For the price I would like at least a year from these shoes.

Nice shoes, but for over $100 NO padding at all. Insoles thin as paper. Added my own insole, but I have other low hikers with much more overall padding. I have tennis shoes with more support then these.

Decent shoe I bought these and a pair of ultra fastpack-and the ultra is way more comfortable. These feel the same as the merrel moab I bought-they just need a softer more comfy insole to hard like walking on concrete in your shoes.

The deal breaker for me was that my big toe touches the top of the shoe at the tip, though there is plenty of room in front of it. It is due to the rubber front that for some reason is lower than the rest of the area of the shoe. Otherwise I would have probably held on to these because they have a very soft ride while being water proof.

Not comfortable and too narrow for wide shoes. In addition the color I got - Taupe Green is not attractive to put it nicely.

I've had these for less than a year now and already the soles are completely worn through in places. I'd expect more from such expensive shoes!

After less than a year of light use, the soles are completely work through in places... I'd expect more from a shoe in this price range.

Purchased these after having owned three pairs of the previous Hedgehog model. These do not have the same arch support, and although all of the same size (supposedly), this new model is shorter. I realized this at the time of purchase, but the next size up was just too large, and I figured the shoes would stretch some over time. I work on my feet and really appreciate shoes that are supportive, light-weight and comfortable. Within a month of having purchased this new model, I was again looking for new shoes. Unfortunately, I can't find any of the previous-model Hedgehogs anywhere.
