I am a true 8--sometimes even a 7.5, and these hiking shoes were too short. I could feel from just a few minutes in them that a hike would be agonizing: my big toe was hitting the front like it might with shoes that were too small. Might (sorta) be tolerated with another kind of shoe, but not a hiking shoe. I might give the 8.5 a chance but otherwise these are definitely going back. These definitely run small in length.

I ordered a 7.5 W, and it was just a bit too small overall. The 8 would've been too big, I think, so I'm looking at other brands. Otherwise, very lightweight, nice looking, seemed like a promising boot for someone else.

Bought these for a trip to Iceland. They seem like a nice shoe but run small, so will be returning for a larger size.

My toes rubbed against the front of the boot while there was room in the heel. I never have this problem - my feet always fit into shoes in the normal way. I was not able to get my feet into position. Seemed nice enough aside from this issue. I'm keeping the Merrell Moab Mid Waterproof instead.

These were just uncomfortable for me. Very stiff. Looks nice but just not for me

Normally a size 6.5 and it was too small. As soon as I took it out the box , I thought I ordered a children’s shoe. I like the style and the hi cut profile for hike so I’m less prone to roll my ankle. Sent it back and reordered half a size up and it worked.

Not a bad boot for the price- but definitely not one I would use for hiking.

this is a super stiff boot for child, hard to flex...like walking in a ski boot.

These were okay. I just decided to spend more money and get more. They feel more like sneakers than I want.

Love the but but it’s too small. I ordered a 10 after reading the reviews and it’s too small. I wanted to reorder in a larger size but they are out of stock

The wide isn't wide enough. I ordered wide width and a full size larger than usual, and my toes were still slightly cramped. My feet are not super extra wide, either, just normally wide. Otherwise, this shoe appears well-made. It feels firm and supportive in the footbed. I have high arches and don't need arch support, but the footbed felt natural and unobtrusive--which means it's probably lacking in arch support. Also, the ankles rubbed painfully. I wore them for about five minutes around the house and already my ankles felt rubbed and soon to be bruised. So overall, not a great boot for me, but the firm-but-cushioned footbed is enough to leave me willing to try another style in this brand.

Really snug!!! I have a very thin foot and could only wear a light-weight sock. Also, very heavy. Sorry Zappos, but love your ease of returning

These were way too big and too roomy. Even if I went down a size they would be too clunky and heavy for me tolerate.

Length felt true to size but the overall body of the boot was too big. Didn’t snug up, so felt like my foot was sloshing around.

I liked the look of the shoe, but this has got to be the stiffest sole I've ever had on my feet. There is absolutely no give to the sole. Your foot stays totally flat, with no bend. I could barely walk up and down the few stairs in my home. Perhaps there is a break in period, but I am returning, as I 've never had this experience with shoes. I know hiking shoes/boots should be somewhat stiff, to give support, but this is over the top!

super cute but way too stiff for my taste walked aound the house with them on for 2 hours and it wont work for me

The shoe looks great and they are light on the foot. However, the toe box felt really odd and was not comfortable.

After reading reviews I decided to take a chance and order these boots in two sizes (9 and 9.5) since I typically wear an 8.5. Both sizes were too small and felt very narrow by my toes (I have average width feet). I really liked the style so I decided to return the 9 and 9.5 and order a 10 thinking maybe the bigger size would have a little more wiggle room in the toe area. I was wrong. The only difference was the length (expected). I ultimately returned the 10 as well and ordered a different brand (not received yet). Thank you Zappos for being so great with returns!

There is no evident arch in the insole - while I could purchase better insoles, I just didn't want to bother. I wear a 5.5 in a regular shoe, ordered a 6.5 seems to be a good fit.

So cute! But definitely narrower and small for what I expected. I ordered 8 1/2 wide, but these felt more like 7 1/2 regular. Also, no arch support and a bit of a slant toward over pronation.

I liked this boot at first but then it started to leak and my orthotics got wet and I was not happy. The waterproofing that they are using isn't like years ago. I tried another pair of HiTec boots and they leaked right away so I won't buy any more of that brand. Years ago I could walk along the ocean in the sand an on rocks and they never leaked. Now I was just in the wet grass and my foot was totally wet! Waterproof NOT AT ALL! Change the description!

I'm so disappointed. I've been buying HiTec for years now without issues. I purchased two pair May 5th, it is now May 19th and the sole of the right shoe came off this morning while I'm working. I have to try and finish my hikes without a sole on one foot!
