I ordered this New Balance WT610v4 in hopes of replacing my Salomon Speedcross shoes, which I've been buying year after year for many years. The New Balance WT610v4 is billed as a trail shoe, for running and hiking. And that's exactly what I wanted. It's also what my old favorites, the Salomon's (Speedcross), are built for. I LOVE the Salomon's! The problem is, they're a fairly expensive shoe, and their soles seem to wear out in no time if I veer off the dirt trails and onto concrete or pavement! The rubbery knobs on the bottom wear down flat before I know it. The sole is one of the main contributors to that shoe's extraordinary comfort, so I thought it might be time to look for something new. By ordering the New Balance WT610v4, I was branching out with hopes of finding another dream shoe that offers the same level of comfort as the Salomon, but better wear. This shoe looked perfect for me! Unfortunately, it ran a little small, and it didn't provide as much support, cushioning, and comfort as my favorite Salomon's. That meant I hadn't quite yet found my dream shoe, and so these New Balance's went back. I actually ordered 2 pair of these shoes! I ordered the Grey/Pink in a size 11, and I ordered the Purple/Yellow in a size 12. Both colors were adorable. I intended to pick the best fit. The size 11's were too narrow and too short. My toes touched the end of the shoe, and the upper was too snug, particularly against the top of my arch. I had them on for just a minute or two before I knew they wouldn't work. The size 12's were much more comfortable, but it seemed there was something wrong with the left shoe in that the upper cut in against the outside of the widest part of my foot, and it hurt. Also, the hot pink was gorgeous and cute on the website, in the box, and in my hand. But put them on my big size 11/12 feet, and all I could see was neon pink BIG FEET! No thank you! I had high hopes for this shoe, seeing as it was billed as a trail shoe and so many other people raved about their comfort. It's too bad that neither shoe met my high expectations for a perfect fit. (I am a pretty solid size 11, but I have been known to take a 12 in a running shoe and a 10 in a sandal.)

I ordered my usual size but my toes were bumping into the edge. When I called to say I needed to order up but had already thrown away the insoles because I had put my orthotics in, the customer service rep was very nice and said she would send me the larger pair but that I didn't need to send the old pair back and could instead donate them or do whatever I wanted. This was excellent customer service and the right way to keep customers returning.

Love this shoe! I walk between 3 and 5 miles at least four times a week and these shoes are nice and light and comfortable. I have acute osteoarthritis in my left foot and problems with my left ankle from an old injury (I've had two reconstructive foot surgeries and three surgeries on the ankle) so I need a shoe that minimizes stress on the arthritic joint as well as good arch and ankle support. This fits the bill. Toe box is comfortable and gives toes room. I got these to alternate with a pair of hiking shoes; I find these to be great for walking on pavement especially, haven't tried them on the trail yet.

The Wide is wide enough for the bunion and narrow enough for the heel. Comfortable right out of the box. The colors are a little flashy for my tastes. Would prefer something a bit more subtle so my feet don't look so wide.

I am a heavier girl with wide feet so I need great support in any athletic shoe. I usually have to order a 10 when I purchase shoes at a dept. store because nobody has "W" shoes in house. However, my true size is a 9/9.5W. I ordered these amazing sneakers in a 9.5W and they are absolutely perfect! I love the traction, the overall support, the style...no complaints!

These are wonderful shoes, I bought them in both colors. I have worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years, mostly in hospital settings. Trail running shoes are the most comfortable and New Balance, for me, are the best. I have a wide foot, narrow heel and high arch but my feet are not thick horizontally, hard to explain but New Balance are the best and never fail. Usually, I wear 7½ but in this shoe, that was too small, I had to go to an 8. I cannot speak to the arch because I wear orthotics but it seems medium to me. I absolutely love them and love the colors.

These NBs are my new dream shoes - roomy without any slippage in the heel, cushioned and buoyant, kind to my feet. I regularly do miles of hiking/walking/crawling on upcountry trails in addition to the routine city jaunts - I'm happy. Getting a second pair.

I generally need a W width to accommodate orthotics, but this shoe is so boxy the M would probably have fit better.

I have another pair of New Balance women's trail shoes in size 8.5. This pair is exactly 1/2" shorter than my older ones. Guess that's why they don't fit!

Very comfortable right out of the box. Nice dark color so when walking thru the woods, they don't show the dirt. Great purchase.

These shoes fit really well. I wear a 9.5 and ordered a 9.5 W because I have had multiple foot surgeries. I do a lot of walking with our dogs and the soles have held up really well. I hope NB continues to make this shoe without changing anything. It's perfect. Zappos rocks! They are the only and best company I will buy from.

I wore these shoes only a couple of times and then went hiking in the mountains for 2 days. They were great! I did use my orthotics as the insoles were not quite as supportive as the customized ones, but they fit well and never hurt at all. The tread was really good for hiking - I did a strenuous trail up and down rocks and the shoes gripped well and were very supportive. I am very happy with them.

I was skeptical because NB did not publish the type of last, but these are so very comfortable on pavement and dirt. I walk both and needed lots of cushion, and these deliver. I do not really understand the tiny holes after the regular laces, but I use them. There is ample room in the box, and the heels do not slip. Good for neutral stride.

Great cushioning which you expect in NB 610 but this v.4 is not sized the same -- it's a good half size smaller than my v.3. You can clearly see this difference if you match these new ones up with the soles of your old ones. I ordered my usual size 9 1/2 W, unfortunately wore them twice because I couldn't believe the first time I wore them that it was the shoe that was too small, not some personal foot idiosyncrasy. Runs small!

This is an update to my previous review (at that time, I wasn't sure about the fit of the shoe). Happy to report that after miles of walking/hiking, the fit is perfect!

Tried on shoes as soon as I received them. I ordered a half size larger and they fit just right. Wore them all day and they were very comfortable. Plan to go hiking in them.

I have another pair in the gray with lavender. I really like the support I get for walking, jogging or a light hike. Plus they do well here in Hawaii.

For those like me, who are blessed with surfboards for feet, this shoe is a gift from the shoe gods. I've tried many different trail shoes, and limped many miles in pain with my feet covered in blisters from trying to muscle my feet into shoes that were simply not wide enough. These have a lot of room in the toe box, and have great support for my high arches. I appreciate the low cut around the back for more ankle movement and flexibility, and the tread offers great traction on muddy and slippery trails. I would highly recommend these to other women with wide feet who need a moderate amount of support in their running shoes.

These are fabulous. Extremely comfortable for hiking in. My feet felt like I was walking on clouds. Can't wait to wear them on my mountain hiking trip next month!

I bought these for a recent trip to Alaska that involved a lot of walking and hiking, and they were fantastic! It's difficult to find wide width sneakers that are comfortable and trendy, so I'm very pleased with this purchase.

These shoes are the most comfortable walking/hiking shoes I have ever had. Love the color. I usually wear a wide shoe and probably didn't need to with these but they feel great.

This is the 3rd pair of New Balance shoes that I've added to my closet and they are the most comfortable athletic shoe I've ever worn. Have neuropathy and this shoe keeps the pressure off of the toes. Also love the jazzy color combinations.

Yes, comfy right out of the box! Thanks to New Balance for offering the wide width, and thanks to Zappos for carrying them at a more reasonable price. I hate to pay a lot for shoes that often never feel great. Having wide feet makes wearing cool shoes harder to achieve, but these are just right. Would like more sneakers that offer darker colors in the soles, as white gets dirty. I got the gray with pink, and will order the gray/purple next.

Exactly what I needed. They fit great, are not too heavy to actually move well, but still have the grip I wanted. Very happy with this pair of shoes.
