I bought two pair of these Conard Cap shoes, the Black Calfskin and the Navy Blue Suede. The website showed the Navy Blue suede as a much lighter shade than in reality. The Navy Blue is closer to black. I provided a picture to show you just how close to black they are. Other than the color, they are very comfortable and I love how they look. Great for work or with a suit.

I have owned two pairs of these, one in suede and one in calf skin. Both were a half size larger than normal in terms of length. The suede pair was very comfortable out of the box with no break-in needed. Unfortunately the flipside of this is the suede stretched out quite fast and after a few months there was no lateral support and I could not longer tie them tight enough to be comfortable. The calfskin pair was very stiff out of the box and took some breaking-in. The upside is they will likely not stretch out as quickly as the suede pair did. Overall a great pair of shoes - very nice looks and a decent price. As others have mentioned the 'leather lining' is only in the heel which is unfortunate but somewhat expected at this price point.

Great looking shoe, as the other reviewer mentioned, it feels a half size larger than I expected (I have other Johnston & Murphy shoes in a 10 but in this shoe a 10 feels long). the external appearance is great, the only shortcoming in my mind is that only the heel area is lined with leather. The rest of the shoe is lined with fabric. I suppose this is somewhat expected at this price point but it is still a bit disappointing.

The shoes were as expected. A little less quality than the JM shoes they replaced.

This is a terrific shoe! At least, I imagine it to be. It ran a half size bigger than I was expecting, (I even purchased a size smaller because I heard that it ran big). It felt great, but I had to return it.

Heel end needs more cushion on inside to prevent uncomfortable feeling from rubbing on back of foot.

For me, 10-1/2 D (medium) is generally OK but a bit snug and 10-1/2 EE (wide) is too wide. These fit me well and were comfortable out of the box. Unfortunately, the synthetic sole makes them look a little unrefined for slacks (how I'll wear them), and the toe box is longer than I want (I am concerned they will crease weirdly and look sloppy with wear).

I purchased the same shoe size 11.5 and it was too big. Decided to buy it a full size smaller 10.5 and it looks exactly the same size. Looks great, haven;t been able to try it really but the size i a big issue

This shoe is very nice and well built. Mine arrived with a slight scratch in one toe, and the color is not at all what is advertised. I bought these because of a stop I made at an airport. Thought this shoe was awesome. Now that I have what I think is the same shoe (same to and perfe'd edges) I'm kinda disappointed. Color is way more red/orange than the nice light brown, woody, tan you see pictured. I wonder what light they were using. The recommended belt doesn't match either! Any comments Johnston! Or Murphy?

I really liked the looks of this shoe. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why shoe manufacturers make the toe box so pointy. I have yet to see evidence of a persons foot where the toes come to a point. I ordered a 14 wide as I have a pretty wide and somewhat high foot. Pleasantly surprised that I was able to get them on without a lot of scrunching around. Wore them for my wedding....the point of the shoe left about a two inch empty space.....and the next morning, my toes were sore from being so pushed together up in the toe box. (Not blisters, just overall soreness)

This may seem petty but the quality of the shoe is great but the shoe laces wear out in a month. One would think the lace quality could be upgraded to match the quality of the shoe.

The Conrad sells because it's stylish. But they do not wear well. The tan color fades and even comes off in areas of the shoe. The sides of the sole and sides of the heal mar and scratch too easily. I have to buy them more often to keep them looking good.

I love the look of these shoes, but I am about to return my 2nd pair in a year! Both of them rubbed the material inside the heal. For that much money it shouldn't do that. Looks are incredible though.

Because the throat is closed at the bottom of this shoe (in English, the leather parts where the eyelets are, and are stitched together at the bottom), I was unable to get my foot into the shoe. I emailed J&M and got an immediate reply to try a Wide (vs. the Medium I had ordered, since all my shoes are Mediums). I printed the return/exchange form from the website, and sent them back. My FedEx tracking says they were received by J&M on July 26. Receipt acknowledged by J&M on the 30th. It's August 6, and I am still waiting for the Wides, and haven't even received a shipment confirmation. I'm surprised, because J&M has always been impressive in their promptness. I guess new orders have priority over return/replacements!

Normally I wear size 10 wide. First order a 10 was too big. Second try with 9.5 was fine but shoe narrows in the toe box. Great style but not for a comfortable fit on my feet.

I finally decided to make the plunge and spend more than $100 on a pair of shoes and I was not disappointed. These shoes really look great and feel sturdy, but after a few weeks I noticed that the toe (sole) had started to split and the top heel on the right shoe (internally) began to deteriorate despite religious use of shoe trees. I really do like these shoes and am going to try out another pair because I may have gotten a "lemon," but I would still recommend these shoes to anyone. They look and feel great.

I can use this product daily. This style is perfect with dress pants or jeans and the changing of the laces makes a difference.

Shoes were not comfortable. Leather is stiff and the shoes felt heavy. On closer inspection I did not care for the two-tone brown heels with the black leather. The construction was good overall and perhaps I could wear them for awhile and the fit would be better, but I need shoes to feel good from the first time.
