I have been a loyal Born shoes customer since the early 1990’s, I have owned upwards of thirty pairs of Born shoes. I have always liked the rugged quality and style, However, about 8 weeks ago I purchased the Born Sawyer (ASIN: BO79RL77M9) Brown Siena Distressed, Size 13D, and my views have changed… After walking in a rainy parking lot, I noticed my foot was wet from the inside underneath. I looked and the sole of the right shoe, and the rubber is completely cracked!(I have pictures for reference, if you need?) I literally just wear the shoes for casual leisure, I did nothing strenuous, or out of the ordinary in the 8 weeks. Needless to say, my foot was wet all night at an event I was attending, and really irked me. Let’s say I am VERY disappointed in the quality only after 8 weeks! There is no excuse for a pair of shoes costing upwards of a hundred dollars, and your history of quality, to crack like this! I realize I’ve had the shoes too long to return, as I’ve worn them 10-12 times, but this has tarnished my future view of buying more Born shoes. I realize this email will probably never be read by a real human, and it’ll just be swept under the internet rug.

I bought these shoes in November of 2016 because I had previously had two pairs of Born shoes that I liked and they held up reasonably good. I like these shoes style and they were comfortable, but they are not durable. It is mid January 2017 and both shoes have major cracks in the soles below the ball of foot. Upon further inspection the rubber of the sole appears to be soft (probably for comfort), but this sacrifices durability. As a point of reference, while wearing these shoes I have walked my dogs about a mile almost every day since purchasing them.

These shows looked great just like they did on the website and were quite comfortable. Why only 2 stars? The soles basically disintegrated after wearing them for only a few months as my normal office shoe. It's not like I'm walking a weekly marathon either. Since I liked the shoes I took them in to get repaired but alas the cobbler told me it was a lost cause. While they lasted, I loved them. I once got a compliment on these shoes from a homeless guy laying down on the sidewalk. If you're only going to wear these shoes a few times and leave them in the closet, I guess go for it(?)

Disappointed. Soft leather uppers, and liked the way they looked, but could not get them on. I triple-checked the size on the label to make sure it was correct, The opening is very small. They do look like they'd be very comfortable. Returning them.

So I loved these right out of the box. One of my favorite shoes ever, but the soles break down VERY fast. The tread starts wearing away within the first few days of wearing and after a few months both soles were cracked, worn down in the heels and a hole had actually formed in the right heal area. I continued to wear them just because i cant be buying new shoes every 2 months but they are not nearly as comfortable once the soles have worn and cracked and I needed to avoid puddles due tot he hole in the heel. Such a shame because I really liked these shoes but they are definitely not built to last!

The sole cracked on both left and right shoes after 10ish months of wearing. I typically have shoes last 2yrs(+) but these haven’t even made it a year yet and they are falling apart. The soles just seem cheap and flimsy. They are comfortable but would not buy again due to their lack of quality.

Love these shoes!! Have to say they are very comfortable and easy to slip on. I will say I had to order a 1/2 size up as they were a little small. Thinking about getting them in black too.

Great show until both soles broke in half. Won't be purchasing again.

After a few months of maybe wearing every other day the soles cracked in the middle, straight across. Now wet streets mean wet feets. These cheap shoes are cheap, go figure.

The sole split @ ball of foot after 3 months. Second time this has happened!!! I am done with Born.

We love this show. We got it in the canvas and it is a great shoe for summer at the office. Great style, fit, and comfort!

I like the color and the style, but the opening seems smaller than the last pair I bought. Between the elastic and the leather, I expect that to get easier.

Bought these shoes based on a recommendation from blogs about clothing for teachers. At first, they seemed great. Born shoes are stylish and extremely comfortable. Unfortunately, after about six months of wearing them 3-5 times a week, the sole on one shoe has developed a hole to a hollow space inside, and both soles have developed cracks near the front. Sadly, due to the quality issues, I can't recommend these shoes for teachers or other ambulatory professionals.

Style and comfort are fine, but I have a major complaint about durability. The soles wore flat after 4 months of workday/office wear - so flat you can slip on a tile floor. The soles also split at multiple flex points. The interior of the upper shows wear as if they are years old as opposed to months. Very disappointed in the shoe. If you plan to wear these once every two weeks you will probably be happy, but do not purchase for everyday wear.

Fit was fine, soft and comfortable shoe - mostly. My concerns though were this: No replaceable insole, the stitching on finer socks could be felt on my foot, which was weird. The rubber sole however, is my biggest gripe. in 5 months I've completely bottomed out the sole and put holes through it. I don't wear them daily so they aren't taking huge abuse. Just the rubber sole is so soft everything tears it apart. Tops still look good, but I had to throw them away with this really cheap bottom. If born would remake the shoe with a decent sole it would be worth 89. As it is it's not remotely close.

Loved the shoes and the style of them is great... however, like most of the other reviews, after 10 months the soles of the shoes cracked and cant wear them any longer.. Stay away from these, unfortunately you'll be replacing them with in a year.

From a comfort standpoint these shoes were great, loved the style.. but like most of the other complaints, after 10 months the soles of the shoes cracked.. dont waste your money unless you are only looking for shoes that will be good for less than a year...

Good Look. Very comfortable - like slippers. Leather is a little rough. But the soles split up the ball of the foot just like the other reviewers pictures. They split all the way into the footbed and insole. In 3 months. And last year I had another pair of Borns that did the same. Disappointing

These shoes hurt my feet, when worn spread too wide and the sole cracked after 3 months. I will not be buying these again.

Soles broke in half after3 months of wearing shoes.

I purchased these in April and had to return them for a larger size. Seven months later the soles had worn through.

Nice kicks

I bought two pairs of these a couple of years ago. I'm disabled, so they haven't seen a lot of wear. Still, I wear them around the house when I tire of slippers, and out to doctors and such. They are SO comfortable. I wear a 9M and their 9 feels like a custom shoes. To my eye, they're quite attractive and casually comfortable. I'm back to get a pair in black. I enthusiastically endorse them.

I have a prior pair of Bjorn slip on leather shoes and they are quite comfortable. Time for a new pair and these feel smaller than the original ones. The width is not there but it may be that the leather is still stiff as I have just received these shoes. The style is nice and I feel that they will eventually come round right.
