These shoes are very cute and look great with both skirts or pants. The styling is moderately dressy meaning you could wear them to work with more casual dresses or skirts. Can be worn ok with or without socks. Unfortunately, I am returning them. The inside padding is great but there is almost no arch support. I want to use the shoes for walking while traveling and need more support. Too bad.... Ended up keeping the Earth Newton. Much more comfortable, but a bit more "clunky". Still ok for casual dress.

This show was only moderately comfortable. I ordered a 9.5 B but they are too short. I am returning them. I think a 10 will be too long.

The style of this shoe was quite cute, and it seems well made. Like most Merrells, it fits my slightly wider foot perfectly (even though it is marked as medium width). I wear a 5, and this shoe fit almost a whole size larger, so sadly I had to return it.

I love these shoes, and I get a lot of compliments on them. Expect a break in period; they are leather.

Great product, I wish I could keep them! They just didn't work for me - rubbed the tops and backs of my feet. Zappos customer service is AWESOME though,quick, easy return!

Slightly too small to size and toe box may be too short, but need to try a larger size first.

The style works for my damaged ankles, i.e. no pressure on the top/side of foot by the slanted band. I will use some moleskin inside the shoe to make it a better fit. This 'medium width' is a little too wide for my narrow foot. I will get others IF they are a narrow width. Design of shoe gets better when I wear them!

Overall, these are cute shoes, good for walking around town. I wish they had a bit more streamlined style, but they are nice and simple. I'm not a fan of buckles and overly detailed shoes. These also aren't too "sporty", (lookin at you, Keen shoes) so look a little better with skirts. If you have narrow feet, these probably won't work for you.

I bought this shoe to replace a much-loved and much-worn Keen Mary Jane that I would repurchase if it were still available. I was looking for a cute, durable, multipurpose MJ, and this shoe seemed to fit the bill. This review is probably only somewhat helpful because I have had to exchange it twice for a smaller size and haven't worn it. But I want folks to know that this shoe, for me, is at least one full size larger than usual. I wear an 11 (or 42) 99% of the time (and my foot is not narrow), but I had to size down to a 10 before this shoe felt right. I have not worn it much, so I can't comment on its durability or comfort during an average day or after lots of walking. It has decent (but not great) arch support, and I like the way it looks. Fingers crossed it will work like my Keens did for so long!

These are cute in theory... but looked too boxy on my feet. They also felt a bit less comfortable than I would have expected them to.

I really wish I could like these shoes! They look great, but the toe area is so stiff that they are uncomfortable.

Love the look and style but after trying 2 sizes, the fit was just not comfortable-toes cramped. So back they go. Will try another style.

Great customer service beyond expectations. I needed to return them as they rubbed my toe and I was not too keen on the look.

I ordered several pairs of shoes to wear on an upcoming trip where I will be doing a lot of walking and these were the winner. They fit true to size and the buckle strap across the front made them feel very secure. My heel did not pop out when I walk and there was plenty of toe space. These shoes also look very nice. They look like a dress shoe but feel like a sneaker. I have not worn them out of the house yet, so I cannot report on how well they wear.

If it had been available in a narrow width, I'd have purchased a 7.5, but it wasn't so I tried a 7M, and it is too wide for my feet. The rest of it was very comfortable.

I liked the style and this shoe was very comfortable when I first tried it on. Then after wearing it when my feet were tired from shopping, it did not offer enough support and made my feet ache. Love the roomy toe box which I need. The sole is well made, has great traction, and the heel height worked well. The 3 stars are for the support issue. I always appreciate the excellent customer service with free shipping both ways. Zappos is always my go to place for shoes and purses.

Love these shoes! Really cute on - they don't look like old lady shoes. They feel nice as they come, but there isn't any arch support and that's a must for me. However - the bottoms come out so I could easily slip in my own orthotics. Yay! My feet are also on the longer side of a size 10, and these fit perfectly. Not too big, not too small.

I've had Merrell shoes before, and love them. 8M has always fit me, but these shoes seemed to be so tight. Wish this shoe was made in W width for that reason.

I am a tried and true 10.5 but I am swimming in these. Ordering a 10 because otherwise they are what I am looking for, a work shoe I can wear around industrial environments and trade shows.

Stylish comfort in a lovely leather Mary Jane. Nice. I have small feet and the 5 is too big for me so back it goes. Will keep searching Zappos.

This is a very comfortable shoe. I wear an 8, and it fit well. I have a slightly wider foot, which works well with this shoe. I plan on using these shoes on my mission in Argentina.

This is a really comfortable shoe. I was attracted to it because I had a similar pair of summer vented ones. This one is just as comfortable. I haven't decided if I like the angled strap or not, but I can live with it for the comfort. It's huge plus is the wider toe area. Merrell is top drawer for sure as is Zappos.

Buying these shoes for work (I teach so I stand around a lot) was like buying a set of tires for my car: I put safety first (these are flats -- not high heels), then braking and handling, and resistance to hydroplaning (I'm 68 -- 'nuff said?). Tread and comfort and noise (no one's going to hear me clicketing-clacking down the hall in these) were also considered. They also don't look like "new shoes" if you wear a lot of black shoes as I do. If you wear a size 9, there's no need to draw additional attention to your feet.

Super comfortable alternative for athletic shoes. Bought for a trip where I was going to be walking all day but wanted something nicer than my tennis shoes but it was too early for boots. They are very comfortable to walk all day in. They did seem to run a little on the wide side - though adjusting the buckle mitigated most of that issue.

The Merrell Dassie maryjanes are very comfortable, right out of the box. They're better with socks but fine without. The first week they arrived, I wore them for travel, trudging through the world's busiest airport and a 200-acre botanical garden. As other reviewers have mentioned, the toe box is wide. My feet get wider at the ball of the foot, and they are still a bit loose on me there - so they are not 100% as cute as expected. However, the oak color is very pretty for fall. I've worn them with jeans and with long skirts, and they're appropriate either way. I have no regrets about keeping them, and I'm looking forward to wearing them with shorter dresses and tights when the weather gets a little cooler.
